What if Sanji isn’t the only ”failure”? We know that Reiju have feelings and we have seen small acts of if not kindness, at least polite/neutral acts by his brothers in WCI.

Not towards Sanji specifically but giving a fruit or something similar to a resident during the wedding by Yonji, and even Niji and Ichiji made similar actions.

And the tragedy with his brothers are they never had a chance to ever be full humans, agency or feelings, thus why Sanji never really blames them for who they are.

The true monster is Judge.

His children are just as much cogs in a machine as the clones, all to grant him HIS wishes. Because he is king. His birthright, his wants, his wars.

The brother closest to Judge in behaviour is Ichiji, the classic stoic elder brother trope partly.

Buuut I can’t help but think of scenarios where he is also a part failure in such that he also have emotions, at least later in life but chooses the life of cruelty, letting the environment shape him and agreeing in the ideology of bloodlines and strength ruling over the weaker.

Like truly believing in it, that’s why he laughed with his brothers when they where about to get killed (and judge showed his “weakness” by crying) Where Reiju is trapped by her own father (but do have his favour ) he is truly free by wanting the same as Judge.

I think it would be so interesting to see a product of cruelty who benefit of that cruelty and don’t seem to find flaws in the system. It would make for some poetic justice to have Judge be overthrown by his own product who is what Judge truly wants, but not stoped by their own humanity by their own free will. And how some actually let their environment define them as they benefit from it. Also the sibling dynamics it would create if he rose to power. Also Reiju❤️‍🩹

Oookkey, this one gets pretty dark as I apparently want Sanji to suffer more than is acceptable?

An au where Sanji was never let out of the cell, but instead of trying to fix him Judge see an other opportunity. Sanji is something more valuable than a failed experiment. He can be used for his children, his REAL children’s gain. As they are getting equipped and modified to further Germas glory not all improvements are without risk. The work are taxing and dangerous as there is nobody quite like his modified children. Well, almost nobody. Sanji who had developed some more resistance than normal is the perfectly guinea pig to make safer improvements on his proper children. Cut open, experienced on and left to suffer in the dungeons and labs Sanji wishes for death. The iron mask is changed into an iron bridle to prevent him from biting his own tongue off and end his life as well as keeping him from pleading with the scientists to help him. Sanji learns words don’t belong to him.

They venture into the Grand Line. Judges real kids are spread thin on missions. He makes sure Reiju always is far away from Sanji. Knows she may feel pity for him. The only weakness in his otherwise perfect daughter, but no matter, even this will be perfected in time.

One harsh storm almost destroys the kingdoms castle ship and it beaches up on a small tropical island with one other ship that fell victim to the storm. The thousand sunny.

Luffy tries to befriend the weird huge snail but end up causing a fight with the weird white and grey clad men and women with funny masks and googles, as well as with a huge yellow dude with a funny looking helmet.

After punching the helmet guy thru some walls he and a winded franky and robin makes a gruesome discovery. In the farthest corner of the room is an emancipated man with perfectly made medical scars all over his body. He misses a hand, a too perfect made stump to have been an accident or born with it. Shaved off eyebrows and partly missing tufts of blond greasy, dirty hair. A metal mask is lying broken on the floor and his head is bloody. Naked sans a flimsy undergarment. His terror is visible and the misery is etched in the very walls around him. A bed and blanket, wet and broken after the storm is in splinters around the room. Luffy sees red and saves the man even if he desperately tries to break free and go back into his corner again.

He punches the helmet guy again for good measure and he howls that the entire fleet yada yada revenge, yada yada give it back, yada real children on missions are going to hunt them down. They coup de burst it away and the man are taken to Chopper for evaluation. He doesn’t speak, but seems to be able to understand them just fine. His mental and educational capabilities are several hampered as it seems he hasn’t been treated as more than an animal for years.

The sunnys chef, Zeff makes him broth and his grumpy and stern attitude with clear directions of “sit” “eat”, “shower” etc makes it easier for their new visitor who seems to be only able to follow simple commands. As the weeks go by the person behind the torture and neglect slowly shows as he slowly heals from the physical issues he’s faced, slowly curled eyebrows are growing back on his face and he makes sure to most of his face behind his hair.

He learns to read again, training to speak, but Chopper states it selective mutism and he can go at his own pace, he doesn’t need to speak if he doesn’t want to or can’t yet.

He is obviously most comfortable around Nami and Robin, shy yet goofy as he hoovers around them to make sure they are comfortable, have all they need and for some weird reason Zeff, even if he is a skittish thing around men overall. Zoro is wary as the man obviously is going to endanger the crew if the ugly helmet guy was honest. But whatever, they are yonko level dangerous themselves now.

The man seems to thrive in the kitchen with Zeff that has turned oddly parental with the weird, curly browed quiet guy. Teaching him some self defence and letting him HELP in the kitchen. One day Zoro catches a wobbly smile sent Zeffs way and kind of gets it, he feels a weird feeling in his stomach and a tug at his heart at the other who is obviously trying so hard.

One day they eat around the table in the galley, homely and a feast prepared by both of sunnys now two chefs. Zoro hums a thank you to Zeff and the “cook” as they have started to call the blond man who hasn’t given them their name or chosen any since his arrival.

The blond smiles the wobbly smile towards them and whispers;

“Sanji. My name is Sanji. “
