Some trans science fiction and fantasy books. You can find my earlier recs for f/f science fiction and fantasy here and my new recs for bi and pan books here. 

Also I somehow totally blanked on this while making the powerpoint, but Charlie Jane Anders’ stuff should be in the last slide. Her two books are CITY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT and ALL THE BIRDS IN THE SKY. I’ll link to some of her short stories below the cut.

I included the author identities because I figured people would want to know if the book was own voices. Disclaimer that gender is a weird nebulous thing and life isn’t easy or straightforward, so depending on when you’re reading this post (I’m writing 8/2/19), some of the authors I listed as cis might have had gender realizations. I literally saw this on Twitter this morning with one of the “more trans SFF” books, so figured it was worth saying. 

Below the text cut you’ll find the titles and authors, links to my queer SFF database (which includes links to trans reviewers and content warnings), and some of my favorite SFF short stories by trans people.

Au with techno trying to cope with the isolation and then getting trailed by Tommy, who is incredibly relieved to see another living face but very very wary. Techno entirely thinks he’s a hallucination at first. Sees Tommy freeze up in panic in the middle of the road before running off and goes “huh. That was odd. Couldn’t have been a real person though they would’ve said something, probably. Probably? Well he’s gone now so”

He’s not very bothered about it though. he’ll talk to the kid sometimes, shouting out across the street, not expecting a response. He finds a comfort in seeing his face, even if it’s usually half hidden, half behind a wall. Techno supposes thats why his mind made up the kid in the first place. To have a little buddy.

I’m pleased to announce that Black Wolves Saga: Bloody Nightmare is fully translated in English! To play in English, you need to download Visual Novel Reader. You’ll have to register an account.

I was hoping to finish translating the untranslated bits sooner but at least it’s done. Send your thanks to @bakemeats for translating the vast majority of it! Also thanks to @blackicejester for part of Arles’s route, his good end, and a few other lines.

As you guys have known, Black Wolves Saga has a complete English translation by @orlandoblue. You can view the patch here.

But the problem is, the patch is for Visual Novel Reader, and a lot of people are having trouble with it and they’re unable to play the game in English.

I did make VNR work a couple of months ago, but now I can’t…

So I figured I’d make this guide on how to make an English patch of Black Wolves Saga. Please note that before using the existing translation, you MUST ask @orlandoblue first for their permission.

It’s not hard, it just takes a lot of efforts of… copy-pasting if you’ve got permission to use existing translation.

THIS METHOD ALSO WORKS WITH KEN GA KIMI!!

You can see that my font has some spacing issue, it varies from PC to PC, I tried with another PC and the font works fine.

Anyway, if someone completed making a patch, I’ll help with the changing font issue. For now, I’ll just show you the way to change the text and insert it back into the game.

Step 1:

A Kamisama Hajimemashita print in the year of our lord 2026? Yes. Yes it is. Can't believe this anime is 14 years old now!

It was one of the very first anime I watched and I recently had the delight of rewatching it. Something about it is just very calming and charming.

This print showcases the changes that Nanami brings in Tomoe's life once she becomes the Land god of the Mikage Shrine.

For Nanami I picked her gorgeous Wedding look as a nod to their future and for Tomoe I went with the long hair version that is a reminder of his past. And in the middle, you can see the shrine, where it all connects.

What I’d give for one of the Cinderella remakes to go into how when you’re in an isolated and abusive situation, sometimes you need to be saved and you’re not weak if you can’t escape by yourself
