I really loved reading @sircantus’s Son of the Sea fic (it’s a dsmp pirate au that I’d really recommend) and for some reason my brain focused in the idea of Wilbur keeping a journal, so I decided to make as close of a replica to the journal IRL bc I wanted a fun, creative project to do. I think a lot of writers might benefit from giving themselves permission to get weird with format.
Use second person, drop classic rising action and climax format, write backwards, just sit in a moment, tell all you want and refuse to show, make an entire book that’s just one run on sentence, reject tropes, use all tropes, cliche yourself to death, produce something that’s completely gibberish. Break all the rules of marketability. Become ungovernable.
Write a story that just takes place inside one pathetic little person’s head. Do it. It’s enrichment in your enclosure.
Do the writer’s equivalent of playing with finger paints. Do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it
It’s the middle of the night and I should be sleeping but listen. Listen. Just get weird with it. Open your soul up a little bit. Like actually don’t worry about it being palatable. I’m serious. Get weirder. Get weirder right now. I’m demanding that you get weirder right now. It’s not your responsibility to make your reader feel good. It’s your job to make art, goddamnit. Make art. Make weird art. Open up your third eye and eat an entire cheesecake.

I need more color in my life. I need to paint sunflowers on the edges of my pantlegs and wear more shiny jewelry and put more stickers around my nametag for work. I need to paint my nails every color i need to have a vast collection of little keychains i rotate through so my keys are never predictable in what they’ll be connected to. I need to get more colorful shoelaces, color coordinate them with my socks. I need people to look at me and realize they could also be putting more color into their lives. I need to live in every minute i have why would i ever tone myself down when i clearly have opportunity to be more

I mean genuinely there’s got to be some instant panic to be had in the face of giant robot aliens no matter what but there’s something very funny to me about the idea of tommy having gotten so used to them that he doesn’t even get freaked out he just gets pissed off.
idea with tommy getting held at gunpoint by some government agent and oop- the car is now driving on its own. Its going at full speed wherever it wants and no you are not in control of the steering wheel. Government agent is screaming for dear life while tommy is in the passengers seat kicking at the dash being like “wilbur where are we GOING.”
Zombie apocalypse au but emduo being those guys who were waiting for the apocalypse to hit and so theyre fully decked out and treating this entire thing like a normal Tuesday vs crimeboys being the usual dirty barely-scraping-by survivors who are making it day by day with a bloody baseball bat, a lighter, and the art of running really really fast
