âI get the shop,â Molly began with a sigh, shrugging her back off to the floor and starting to yank off her jacket, âBunch of fun stuff down there. But why sneak into my apartment, too?â
âThis is where the bathtub is?â
And what a nice bath it was! Laurelai had particularly enjoyed the bubbles-- some of which still clung to the walls and ceiling. And the floor where she had tracked them behind her. And a towel or six.
She held up an electric toothbrush, clicking the button. It buzzed in her hand.

Hi guys, I hate to do these posts but itâs an emergency
I need to get my rent paid. Itâs already late, and because my work took so long in getting me started, Iâm behind quite a bit and without options. I had enough, and then pending charges took more than I expected.
I need $200/$810 (hopefully by today) in order to make rent and be in the clear. Iâm so sorry to ask this of you guys but I have no other resources, and I have nothing to give but my eternal thanks.
Please help if you can, or boost if you canât. I appreciate you all!

Grinning widely, Laurelai tap-tap-tapped on Leonie's office window. In one hand, she held part of a Wanted poster. "May I come in? I found him!"
Startled, Leonie snapped around in her chair.
âLaurelai! How did you...? Weâre three stories up!â She scrambled to open the window before the dentally diverse damsel could fall. âDid you *climb* up here? Get inside quick before someone sees you!â Helping Laurelai inside her office, Leonie took the slip of paper from her hand to examine it.
âWait, wait... what do you mean âyouâve found himâ? Do you know who this is?â
Bewildered by Leonieâs fearful reaction, for she would not be hurt even if she fell, Laurelai nodded.
âOui. How else would I reach the window?â She asked, stepping carefully into Leonieâs office. It wasnât often that she was invited indoors, and for a moment she forgot the purpose of her visit as she took in her surroundings--   ---the squishiness of the carpet beneath her bare toes.
âOui, I mean I found him. He is in my nest.â She looked at Leonie, tilting her head in curiosity.
âNo? He looks familiar. Is he important?â

Riona took Laurelaiâs hand and gave it a squeeze. âNo more fighting.âÂ
âNow, maybe you can help me figure out exactly where I am? You said this was your territory, right?â
She never knew where she was anymore. Leaving Muirin was needed, but the world was so much more vast than she ever imagined.
Not only did Laurelai not understand the meaning of truce, but the custom of handshakes were foreign as well. No one ever seemed to want to get close to her, which in retrospect was probably for the best as she tended to be jumpy.
Her hand closes around Rionaâs, circling the delicate bones of her wrist. She does not let go; her grip cold and firm, her gaze directed at their joined hands.
[she has seen humans do something similar to this,    when walking in pairs. Did it imply ownership?]
âOui, this is the Cemetery, and these are my roses.â
With her free hand, she gestures at the old stones behind her-- half-hidden in the overgrowth of rose bramble.Â
âThe Town is that way,â Laurelai pointed East.
âAnd that is our nest.â Her arm swings South, up the hill past the tombs.

âI promise,â Riona swore. âI cannot personally even hunt an animal. I will eat a deer or a rabbit, but I cannot be there for the hunting part. It needs to be meat before I can stomach to look at it again. I do not hunt children, either.â
Riona looked into the Llamiaâs eyes, watching the way they glittered like the stars. It reminded her of silver swirls from an afternoon lifetimes ago.
âTruce?â she offered.
With Rionaâs agreement, Laurelai relaxed marginally, though she wondered how the woman had survived for so long if she did not hunt for herself. Humans were one thing-- helpless creatures-- but this woman was not human.
Not entirely.Â
She tilted her head, a slow blink belaying her lack of understanding of the word âtruceâ. If it was a gift, she would accept it.
Laurelai held out one hand, palm-up.
  âQuoi?â
asoulofstarsâ:
âHow and why would we trade them?â Riona asked. âFaeries canât hide their wings. Humans long ago kidnapped us and trafficked us for our magic. We went into hiding. We donât want to turn the tables!â
Riona hoped this wouldnât last much longer. Sheâd flown quite a ways, and her left wing, scarred and fragile, was tiring. She would need to land before long, and sheâd be right back in the clutches of Laurelai.
âAnd, no, of course the stars didnât warn me about you. Itâs not like they can tell me the exact future. The future is not set in stone. There are infinite possibilities of what could happen, and possibilities are what make life interesting!â
âI donât know! Maybe.. your babies are not as good tasting?â
Laurelai had to admit that there were gaping holes in her theory. She crossed her arms, staring sullenly-- suspiciously-- at Riona. She knew what it meant to hide.
[to be the last of her kind.]
In the darkness, her eyes glittered as if they possessed light of their own.
âDo you promise? I will not abide that kind of hunting.â
asoulofstarsâ:
âWhat in starsâ names are you talking about?â
âI donât hunt children! I donât steal! I talk to stars. I learn about possibilities of the future. I try to help.â
Riona stayed in the air, not about to give this llamia a chance to grab her.Â
âLiar. The stars did not warn you about me!â
Laurelai might not be able to reach Riona, but that didnât mean she wasnât going to try and continue the fight. Frustrated about this perceived ecological threat, Laurelai stomped one bare foot and clenched her fists.
âI know what you are, thieving fairy!   You take the children-- trade them for your own,   and I do not even know if I can eat grown-up fairies!â

âOkay, no!â Riona exclaimed, jumping up into the air and sweeping her wings deeply so she moved upwards faster. âWhat did I do? What is happening?â
Laurelai missed the first attempt, and sprang into the air again as soon as she touched the ground-- wildly grasping for Riona.
Failing in that, she crouched on the grass.
âYou will not be hunting the children in my territory!â She hissed, baring her fangs.
    âNo stealing!â
