Update on my uncle:
His white blood cell count is refusing to come up. The doctors had to put tubes in his chest to drain fluid. This helped him to breathe better, but itâs causing pain which means his pain meds are constantly making him sleepy and high. Heâs not able to stay awake, and is very easily confused.
Thank goodness heâs finally been moved from isolation to a different floor. The biggest issue is his blood work doesnât want to be normal. The doctor is saying he will need to be on fluids and oxygen for at least 4 more weeks. They donât want to release him, and if they do they want to send him to a facility. Which is a terrible idea, because it would be really bad for his mental health. My uncle has high anxiety. But Iâm glad they finally have his heart and breathing better managed. Itâs just a slow process, and my little cousins are out on their spring break right now. Keeping up with these lil ones, let me tell you they have lots of energy. Theyâve been very well behaved for me, though. And sweet as can be.
