Hi everyone! It's certainly been a while since I've used this blog. But since the release of Star-Crossed World I've gotten back into Kirby, and I've graduated college and am in a new chapter of my life with a lot more free time to do fun stuff, so it's finally time to breathe some life back into this blog! I will be opening the askbox within the next couple of days and then starting to post a couple days after that, so keep an eye out for great things coming!

Why are these two goobers so adorable?

I was making another post and this was a small side quest I went on

I found it odd that the turtles in ‘Mutant Mayhem’ seem so young and I looked it up. . .their 15. . . Yeah I wasn’t expecting that. I ended up asking my parents who grew up with the 1987 series and the 1990 movies what they thought the turtles general ages were. My Mom said it depends on the Movie/Cartoon/Comic/ it is. . . And that some of them seem younger than others. She said that the movies would be in their late teens. and that sometimes with Donnie being the smart one she said you’d think that'd make them a little on the older side. she said 16 would be PUSHING IT at youngest and 25 at oldest Maby (note she’s pretty unfamiliar with most turtle iteration's. And constantly gets Leo and Donnie mixed up. . .) My Dad said he'd imagine their about 15/16, because they can drive and their mannerisms/way of talking give off that age.

I looked at a few Reddit threads and Wikis to get a list of general ages that people seem to consider them.

Again. Some of his was off of general fan opinions.

1987: undisclosed. posable ages for them are. Leo & Donnie 16 Raph & Mikey 15. also they age During the series and by S4 their about 18/19. (assumingely)

OG 1990-1993 movies: By the end of the trilogy the turtles are around 18. the time in between movies is unknown but the time in between movie releases is 1 and 2 years. Do with that what you will. 2003: Generally considered to be in their late teens 18-19. (but are apparently 14-15. . .)

2012: they turned 15 in the first episode. 16 Maby 17 by the end of the series

2014/Micheal Bay: Considered to be in their late teens to adults 18-20’s (tho they are actually 15-16. . .)

2018/Rise: Raph is 15 Leo and Donnie are 14 and Mikey is 13. the movie apparently had a 2 year time jump Making them 17, 16, and 15

2023-2024/Mutant Mayhem: said to be 15. Tho they seem more around 13-14

This also means more time is passing behind the scenes than we perceive, however it's good to assume 1 week or so has gone by between episodes of the other seasons + tv shows instead of 2 or 3 like in Season 3 of 2012 (unless it's literally stated that this episode is happening sooner/later than that).

@kyliecatqueen I think their birthday is actually somewhere In either the last week of June or first week of July since we see a sign in S1 E4 ‘New Friend Old Enemy’ that advertises the Expo with Bradford saying ‘from July 7th - July 14th’ and we know he hasn’t been in New York for to long.

I also think that S1 and S2 happen within the same 6-7 months. . . And for the first chunk of S3 (when they’re at the farm house) their actually still 15 since their birthday hasn’t technically passed yet. (then you have the rest of S3 and then time travel stuff messing things up so)

I will say ya got an interesting way of figuring out whatever ya wanna call this. I just wanted to point out the June/July thing since it’s interesting to me.

I actually have a calendar where I marked stuff out to figure out some Form of a timeline. and there’s a post I used as reference. its easier to understand then me. . . .so I’d suggest looking at it.

lol that's fair, I'm sure some would argue that Casey is his own content warning (including Casey Jones himself 'cuz he'd think it's cool) but I personally do think he speaks some truth because of weather patterns: it gets foggy in New York City most commonly around fall and wintertime. It was foggy out when they took down the Technodrome and crashed it into the water. Multiple months later, enough for it to be considered a year, it's foggy out and starts snowing during S2 Finale part 1.

Yeah but their birthday being in late June/early July doesn't match up with Casey and April still being in public school at that time. If it was summer school then sure, that checks out for Casey but April and especially Irma? Someone smart enough to be a tutor and a literal robot? There's no way they have summer school if they're in school before they meet the Turtles, considering when Casey gets introduced it's almost exam time. It'd probably make more sense if their birthday was closer to late July/early August to match up with school times.

The Bradford Expo is a good point, but it's more than likely that this Expo could've been when around when he meets Mikey. My mom works as a ticket seller for Crypto.com Arena and Angels Stadium; advertising and ticket selling starts months in advance of the actual concert/game/event, such as when my local elementary school was promoting buying tickets in May for a Dodger game happening in August. It's a good idea in theory, but not so much in practice.

The time travel poses a problem in theory, but only if we age them down as they go back in time. From their point of view, they're spending this time in the past (both with Renet and with Fugitoid) the same age as they were before traveling, so we keep going forward instead of moving back temporarily. They went back 6 months and then lived up to the point they traveled from, so we add those 6 months to their age. They return to Earth 6 months older than when they left. Renet's adventures don't throw things off too badly since they last a week at most.
