september is coming up so hereâs your yearly reminder to leave billie joe armstrong the fuck alone
Well of course. We donât wake him up until October 1st.
His dad is dead, just donât.
In case anyone reading my blog is unaware, this is a reference to the Green Day song titled âWake Me Up When September Endsâ a song that Billie Joe Armstrong wrote following the death of his father in September of 1982 when Billie Joe was ten years old. The title of the song references his desire to sleep through September in an effort to get some emotional distance from the death of his father.
Heâs since been open about the emotional difficulty of having written the song since many people now message him on October 1st to âwake him upâ despite the song being a memorial to his departed father.
Itâs generally seen as respectful to not try to wake him up. Let him sleep and let him remember his father in peace.
reblogging again because the end of September is coming up. leave him alone.
Reblogging as a reminder to leave Billie Joe Armstrong the fuck alone on October 1st and any day after it if your message is going to contain anything to do with âwakingâ him up because September will be over.
Are you sad that June is over and you don't have a pride month anymore? Fear not, friends! There's a different pride month just beginning! lgballt
As a note, there is an updated version of the disability pride flag, designed by the same person, addressing some issues with the ine in this post. The colors are a bit desaturated, because the contrast was causing problems for some people with certain vision issues, and the zig-zag dodge in the stripes is gone because when scrolling past it at speed it was causing issues for some people with visually-triggered seizures (such as epilepsy)
Meme idea
Photoshop the goose from untitled goose game into the background of a photo of a place where something bad happens, but itâs a photo of before the bad thing happening, so itâs implied that the goose caused it
like this
@ask-link-the-hylian-champion
OH IF I HAD PHOTOSHOP THE TITANIC WOULD BE MY FIRST TARGET
Say no more
You are my personal hero I hope you know this
May I present a humble alternative, where the goose is present during the bad thing happening, example:
Oh my god
Put him in Pompeii
i hope itâs okay that this one is stylized;; our dear time traveler must stay with the times if they must wreak havoc appropriately
@grimmtales13 @timetravelingcacti
Your wish is my command
DOES THE GOOSE HAVE A FUCKIN KNIFE TOO!?
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
this knife has caused me more suffering than any amount of editing will in my life
Iâm sure Julius Caesar felt the same fucking way about the knife
Too soon-
ITS BEEN OVER 2000 YEARS (according to google)
Perfect timing for ides of march
how is this post still alive
Because we hit the one requirement for tumblr fame: Julius Caesar
You know these fucks go ham for the ides of march
over 2000 (according to google) slutty years later and his fanbase still at it huh

Fun history of corned beef and cabbage.
Beef is cheap in America (lots of land, lots of cows, so thereâs such a thing as cheap cuts). So a lot of immigrants who could never afford beef in their home country now had access to beef.
(Example spaghetti and meatballs is an Italian-American invention).
Now Americans hated immigrants (plenty stilldo sadly) and hated anyone who wasnât Protestant so you had segregation. So in New York the Irish Catholic area was next to the Jewish area. There was solidarity between American Irish and American Jewish immigrants. So Irish-Immigrants bought corned-beef from Jewish butchers.
(In Ireland, you may eat bacon or lamb for St Patrickâs Day, but lamb was (and is) expensive in America, and Irish Immigrants got their meat from Kosher butchers - no bacon).
Brisket is a cut of meat from the front of the cow. Itâs a very tough cut of meat. The salting process (itâs like soaked in salt for over a week) and cooking for hours and hours (itâs an all day stew) makes it tender.
So corned beef and cabbage is a dish that evolved out of affordable ingredients (tough cut of beef, cabbage and carrots and potatoes are dirt cheap) and proximity to Jewish immigrants.
St. Patrickâs Day Celebrations as we know them now (parades and the like) were started in America by Irish-American immigrants. Because WASP Americans (white, Anglo Saxon, Protestants) hated Catholics and hated the Irish.
And for all immigrants there was a big push to assimilate (give kids English sounding names, forget your language, become Protestant). But people donât give up religion easily, names and language maybe, but not God.
So still today you have Irish Catholics, Italian Catholics, Mexican Catholics, etc and even Americans who arenât practicing Catholic or arenât religious may view being raised Catholic as part of a cultural identity linked to their heretage (the same way someone who doesnât practice Judaism is still Jewish, some difference since Judaism is a hereditary religion, but for immigrants in a country that hates Catholics, being Catholic, having that tradition was and is part of being an outsider to American, part of an identity those in power hated and tried to erase).
So holding giant Irish pride parade celebrating the Catholic patron Saint of Ireland was sort of a âfuck youâ to anti-Catholic anti-Irish sentiment. A âfuck youâ to the idea that being an American meant erasing your traditions and history and pretending to be a White Anglo Saxon Protestant.
Look at us being proudly Irish and still Catholic. Obnoxiously, visibly Catholic and acting ways that the puritanical Protestants hate.
So what was a family religious Holiday became a big, visible celebration of heretage and homeland (a shared identity). And since itâs a celebration immigrants splurged by buying a big cut of beef (beef is cheaper in America, but immigrants did not have a lot of money and meat is still more than vegetables, so any cut of beef was still a special occasion thing) and supported their Jewish neighbors who ran the butcherâs shop.
(also, since itâs a Stâs Feast, Lent restrictions on meat and drinking alcohol didnât count, so eat a lot of meat and drink).
St Patrickâs Day in the US has its own history, heretage and ties to religion (and persecution for that religion). Traditions are tied to that history. So Corned Beef and Cabbage may not be a thing in Ireland but itâs a part of Irish-American tradition, history and culture.
https://www.smithsonianmag.com/arts-culture/is-corned-beef-really-irish-2839144/
What a lovely explanation of diaspora culture!
Additionally in the Middle Ages the Irish were known for their high-quality salt-preserved beef and exported it to the continent, and I know for a fact the British fucked up the traditional Irish agronomy in establishing their plantation system, cutting down both cattle husbandry and how much meat was available to the average person.
So I feel like in the 19th century there may have been an existing nostalgia for salt beef that is wholly irrelevant to the Irish today, whose palates have adjusted to the refrigeration era, but which has remained tagged in the âethnic consciousnessâ of the diaspora.
with spooky season approaching i would like to once again gently remind the rpc that

a lot of stereotypical witch imagery can also fall into antisemetic tropes so once again tread carefully and do your research, ESPECIALLY if your witch character is meant to be jewish.

On the Collapse of HBO Max and the Importance of Physical Media
https://www.slashfilm.com/612335/best-movies-of-2021/
This article is a great articulation of a problem I have noticed increasingly over the past couple of years. As more and more movies and shows simply are not released on physical media, Iâve waited for something like the collapse of HBO Max to highlight a huge problem: we are no longer able to own our entertainment. Streaming is, at its most basic, a rental. We pay to rent, and thatâs if we have a high-quality and stable internet connection. Those who lack internet are basically shit out of luck for entertainment.
And more than that, when a streaming service suddenly vanishes, or merges with another and does a purge of their shows and movies, those shows and movies simply ⌠vanish. They no longer exist unless some enterprising individual pirates it. At that point, the only way to access a piece of art is through illegality. Â
And this is why Iâve been so angry about the âphasing outâ of physical media. If I like a show, let me buy the season. Iâm fine paying more for the boxed set of physical media that I then own, no matter what the platform that originally hosted it does after. Let me take those shows with me even if I go to a place without internet. Let me get special features and lovingly crafted DVDs that give me behind-the-scenes peeks whenever I want. Ditching physical media puts us all at the mercy of giant media conglomerates, begging them to let us watch something we have paid for many times over. And they can take it away whenever they want. So buy DVDs or Blu-Ray or whatever you like. But make sure you shore up your collection of the things you love, and never trust a media company. Theyâll drop you the second they feel like theyâve pumped enough money out of you.
Very very good points.
Personally I donât particularly care about owning, but I care very much about accessing and preserving. This is culture weâre talking about, and weâre letting it get thrown into the trash whenever a copyright monopoly feels that it threatens the profits of their newest acquisition (because the old competes with the new, right?). Today, we have technologies that allow for the most comprehensive preservation of human culture in history, and our laws let it get buried and destroyed instead.
Our laws need fixing. Monopolies shouldnât exist at all. Creators canât negotiate with these behemoths, they sign the dotted line and take whatever theyâre given, which is underwhelming compensation for their work but more importantly, complete loss of control. Control goes to the monopoly. But no one should control culture.
Hereâs a quick and dirty fix for works disappearing from streaming services: distributors and publishers should never retain the copyright of works they removed from circulation. It should immediately revert to the creators, and they can republish it in some other way (or release it to the public domain if they canât be bothered).
That doesnât fix everything. For example, Amazon fucks over the authors of e-books and audiobooks precisely because digital books are perpetually in circulation, so they canât renegotiate their deal ever. And if Amazon chose to bury their works via algorithm, or if for whatever reason theyâre not satisfied, they canât go to another publisher. Ever. Amazon fully controls their works, until they die and for decades after.
(With physical books, copyright â the right to copy â reverts automatically to the author when the publisher doesnât publish â doesnât copy â the book any more, presumably because they donât think itâll sell. Printing and distributing a book IS a big deal, it takes effort and time and money. Not deleting a file from your servers takes no effort at all. Fuck Amazon, and fuck the laws that allow it to shaft authors like that. Fuck copyright law in general.)
As for DVDs and assorted physical media, I think theyâre useful but not strictly necessary. The servers of archival projects (and their mirrors), and our hard disks (and their backups) are more than enough to preserve anything in digital format, as long as we donât delete it, and continue copying it and sharing it and converting it to new formats when needed.
tl,dr; As long as the law allows monopolies to form and to control copyrighted works, they will do exactly that. This canât be solved by âbetterâ companies. It can be helped by better national laws and international treaties (TRIPS is a global fuckup, even if American lobbyists drafted it). Until then, support archives, and please keep torrents alive, especially torrents of things out of circulation, hard to find, etc.
So long as content creators get paid a livable amount for their work, Iâm good with this.
Are you sad that June is over and you don't have a pride month anymore? Fear not, friends! There's a different pride month just beginning! lgballt
Caption: [Happy Los jibbities everybody, I have a pride story for you since itâs pride month. At work I have this coworker, his nameâs Dan. Heâs not a very good coworker but he is a friend and I love him.
Dan is painfully heterosexual, like the manâs favorite avenger is Iron Man. He takes Sundays off to watch sports ball. Like he has every Sunday off just for sports ball. He thinks the greatest PokĂŠmon is Pikachu.
Now he may be painfully heterosexual however he is a great ally. Now one day he just texts me out of the blue and he goes, âToby, whatâs nonbinary?â. He said, âI know what pansexual is because Deadpoolâs pansexualâ, which isnât that the most hetero way to learn that? But he goes, âBut Iâm not sure what nonbinary isâ.
So being the token trans person, of course he asked and Iâm okay with that and I explained it to him. I was like, âOh nonbinary people are just people who donât identify with the gender binary, you know?â. He responded, âOh okay cool. I just thought is was people who didnât believe in numbersâ.]
You know whatâs some crazy $hit?
This fabulous bitch
She makes a shit ton of poses (like 16,000 or some crazy nonsense). Â I used this lovely lady to draw so much as a teen. Â Whether it was some nerdy pose for my Mary Sue as fuck OCs
or for full on fight sequences
or for tragic deaths of my OCs in the arms of a totally OOC main protagonist. Â
this bitch hooked me up. Â
And with the wildest, craziest stuff that you could see in your head but had no way or resources to reasonably draw like
or this
or this
DUDE! Â INASNE SHIT!! Â So I was using her for a pose reference and decided, you know what, I owe this bitch some cash. Â Lemme dole it out for her. Â BUT then, I looked and saw she only has 286 fucking patrons!! Â This chick gives out free shit and spends countless hours arranging these shoots and setting this stuff up. Â
Iâll fork up the cash, SenshiStock. Â Youâre worth it. Â
Check out this amazing womanâs stuff, and get knowledged: Â https://www.deviantart.com/senshistock
I have been following her for years on deviantart.
Highly reccomend checking her out. Sheâs the best. If I had any money to throw Iâd throw it at her for providing such a big help in my life.
This hero doesnât wear capes, she instead wears (and looks utterly flawless) in tank tops(?)
Interrupting my regular Star Wars BS to reblog this because @senshistock is amazing and beyond worth the follow and support! I first started using her refs gosh I want to say back in maybe 2008, and Iâm happy to be a supporter of her over on Patreon. If youâre an artist please go find her stuff on all the platforms, you will not regret it!
Yessss, she is so awesome! Been following her for years. My favorite stock artist is jademacalla, who is, incidentally, in the last two images above. He has a lot of great angles, costumes, gear, etc! I love his hands, too.
rb to save an artists life
Just so everyone knows, she recently stopped using the name SenshiStock and switched to AdorkaStock! All her links and socials have switched to that. Also she has a TikTok of her doing the poses live, which is stupid useful because you can pause it at any point in the pose for just the right reference.
Literally just used a Adorkastock reference the other night, god bless them

Hate that actually going out and doing things I wanna do makes me happier.
Me: Letâs go to a bunch of indie bookstores today.
My brain: Nooooooooo!!!!!!!! Effort!!!!
Me: *goes to a bunch of indie bookstores like I wanted*
My brain: Oh, okay. Here, have a happy and relaxing chemical.
Me: Nice. So can we put in the effort to do this again sometime?
My brain: Noooooo!!!!!!
Recently I saw a tiktok by John Green where he said something along the lines of âthe worst part of taking a stupid walk for my stupid mental health is that it actually works.â and I think the same principle applies to actually going out to places you like.
