Help us save Bolivar Flats from an impending housing development! This property is critical habitat for the federally protected Black Rail,
The Houston Audubon Society needs donations so that they can purchase the last piece of the Bolivar Flats Shorebird Sanctuary and save it from housing development! Bolivar Flats is a Globally Important Bird Area, host to upwards of 300 unique species, and a number of threatened and endangered species. Hundreds of thousands of birds rely on Bolivar Flats annually to rest during migration and to raise chicks, and the Houston Audubon Society has been given a deadline of December 31st, 2025, to raise $3 million USD to purchase the final parcel of land that would complete the shorebird sanctuary! So far they've raised around $1.26 million USD. If you can, please help to spread the word!

oooh okay a human claiming an entire group of animals is useless. how novel.. and you think killing them all would do barely anything? that's so interesting! and you believe you're stating truth right? you're not a biologist either? damn... this... this may be a stroke of genius... you're so right... wow...

the correct term for most bugs is actually "friend"
all bugs*
Lotta reblogs with tags saying âexcept for _______.â No. I think maybe youâre not getting it. All bugs are friends. Even invasive species. Even parasites. Even bugs that transmit disease. All life has value. No bug is malicious. All bugs are friends. All bugs are nice and I love them all. Thank you.
Ok I was just having some lighthearted fun but genuinely some of you need to learn that a post about loving bugs is not the place for you to go on a rant about the one specific bug that you hate or the ones that you feel deserve to be killed. If you find yourself blocked by me you know why. This blog is my happy place and you're making it unpleasant.
so many creatures putting SO much effort into putting âspecialâ fluids that TOTALLY arenât water through every organ possible to clean them so they can use them again 2 seconds later. like why not simply sit on a damp substrate and pull water through your body by evaporating the extra out pores in your leaves lmaoooo
ânooo nooo you donât get it I need the big organ to run the fast firing nerves to run the machines that make the fluid go to work the big organâ. whatever chordate. lol
troubleshooting time: arid area, low on damp substrate. what do?
good question! you could try closing your leaf pores for a while until more appears⌠sometimes you can also put more tubes down and feel around until you find some. water comes from the opposite direction of the sun unless it doesnât â¤ď¸ glad I could help!!
omg useless advice from privileged mfs from wet climates as usual... bet you don't even use CAM.
ok first of all i checked your profile and of COURSE its all meadows, say youre a grass who does C4 without saying youre a grass who does C4 100% speedrun challenge. sorry i wasnt blessed with a whole separate sheath of cells for increasing photosynthetic efficiency and nothing else but some of us actually have to adapt and deal with the VERY REAL AND SEVERE effects of photorespiration... literally imagine having 30 foot deep roots posting this. second of all 'plants in wet climates are privileged' you can literally live in water and use CAM??? isoetes erasure per usual on this website, neglected by an angiosperm monocot no less. why am i not surprised

Careful with birding you can become addicted to noticing beauty in everything and appreciating nature
BEWARE OF THIS!!
i am listening to the starling outside go through his repertoire of learned songs from other birdsâŚwhat have i done
Oh fuck I'm supposed to be observing a work crew fixing a leaky manhole but it's next to a wetland and I can hear at least 2 Carolina wrens in a duet and a song sparrow nearby and the sun is shining off the water and the wind through the rushes is like gentle music. Scary stuff
