Cute little thing, that he was.

“You shouldn’t trust everything Connor says.“ he explains. “He might be the older one, in theory, yeah, sure. But that doesn’t really mean anything.” Not always, anyway. 

“He always acts like he knows better. I know he does. But he still has a lot to learn, himself.”

He clears his throat, all awkward.

“I mean-“ He did not mean to insult the other, of course, though... it appeared as though this was exactly what he managed to achieve...

“It wasn’t your fault. You didn’t... know what you were doing. I mean, that’s... that’s how Connor explained it to me...“ he mumbles, trying to make his way through the statement.

“Yeah, but... it’s okay. You know? It’s okay..“ And he really meant it.

“What is it exactly, that you do...?“ He still didn’t quite get it; or, at least, that was how the lieutenant would have been perceived by an unaware outside spectator.

He had never been most versed in all of that... android stuff...

And then? Then he waits, simply standing there, next to the RK800 model, in total silence. Let’s see what would come of this one.

There is a pause, silence lingering in the room, tense and anxious, almost, before the lieutenant lets out an audible sigh of relief, nodding to himself, just as much as to his son, appreciative of his... confession? The kid could not possibly understand how awkward of a position he had just put his father in.

Frankly, these types of conversations would never not be uncomfortable, as far as Hank was considered. They would have to take place, in due time, of course, but... now that the realisation of him ever having to have them with his son crept up on him, he had to admit, he wasn’t really looking forward to them at all.

“Yeah. Kinda.“ he admits, rubbing his thumb over his creased forehead, thoughtfully almost. “I mean, that’s not what we call it, but... close enough, kiddo. Close enough.“

Then, following the initial shock of Cole’s remark being offered out, the lieutenant finds himself frowning once more, realisation sweeping over him.

Connor never told him anything at all anymore, huh?
