im watching a little doc on youtube about an 11th century castle, and theres a bit where they are talking to a group of older women who are working on a large hand embroidered tapestry commemorating its nearly 1000 years of history & into the modern era.. and off on the border they show a bit where the women have stitched themselves working on it into the piece itself, and it made me kinda emotional
how amazing to have a visual depiction of the women who spent literal years painstakingly stitching such a wonderful piece of art that historically would have gone uncredited
Some more quilts, these all by Pamela Studstill
What the fuuuuuck these are so incredible i feel rage like people get watching the chocolate guy
Most recent progress pic of my glorious loon sweater. It’s a little old, it has sleeves now!

I HAVE FOUND. THE MOST AMAZING WEBSITE.
it’s called braceletbook.com and it appears to be a resource for like…friendship bracelets? And making cool patterns for them? Which is super cool and I do want to try it. But all of these patterns absolutely work as cross stitch patterns
Like. Look at this!
Again it’s geared towards bracelets so they tend to be long and skinny, which is the only major limitation. But you can search and filter by number of colors, I’m making myself a frog bookmark.
anyway I thought you and your followers might enjoy!
Thank you for spoiling me with this! I'm going to lose some time here for sure!
This is like ravelry for friendship bracelets wow!
I made a hat!
Rainbow Pride Shetland braid from @littlebirdinagarden, split lengthways to prevent too much drafting and so preserve colour intensity. 2ply, aiming for minimal barber polling, but not a chain ply so that the colours blend and fade rather than changing abruptly.
Matched with a north country cheviot for contrast. Rhombus mittens (Inna M on Ravlery) knitting pattern gave inspiration for the disappearing rhomboids; drafted pattern to fit a hat. Eight repeats of ten stitches. 6mm needles for colour work; 5.5mm for ribbing. Provisional cast on where colorwork starts so as to allow adjustments (hat up, rib down).
The brim turns up and covers the very bottom bit of yellow/orange, which I think I prefer - illusion of one colour fade through the hat.
Hot soaked and blocked on a balloon.
Accidental tomato pin cushion guy that would get 100,000 notes and get spin-off fanart where he's shipped with like a lady who's based off of those stork scissors or something if this were 2014.
earlier this week Twitter user ppuccin0 tweeted about a fashion article that advised against tops with large floral patterns, saying the wearer was in danger of looking like a "ロマンティックおばさん," or a "romantic auntie." the tweet went viral with many agreeing that a "romantic auntie" sounded like a very nice thing to aspire to be, and some even posted illustrations or photos tagged with the trend

Sixteen felt cheez-its. Just because.
Bola Edun by Teneshia Carr for Blanc Magazine 2020
TDF day -1: results
Here's all the yarns I made! From left to right (/bottom up):
1 - Finnsheep/Alpaca roving 100g/390m. I bought this last year at a tiny spinnery. It's a lovely natural colour - light brown/beige with reddish undertones
The fibre mix was something I never had before and I was a bit sceptical at first because Alpaca and I have never been friends but spinning this was lovely. I just love making woollen yarns. It's unbelievably soft and fluffy, but still has structure and a bit of a rustic feel to it. Hard to describe, I wish y'all could touch it.
2 - Polwarth combed top "summer solstice", fractal spin, 390m/100g
3 - Polwarth combed top "autumn equinox", 420m/100g. This yarn is my favourite 💚
4 - Polwarth combed top "spring equinox", 460m/100g
5 - Corriedale combed top, undyed, 390m/120g - this had surprisingly short staple length for a combed top and for Corriedale. I find that's often the case for naturally coloured wool. This was my least favourite to spin.
The Polwarth is all from @littlebirdinagarden's mystery boxes from last year. All in all I spun about 2030m, which is not bad but less than I know I can do in 3 weeks. I had to go away with my nephew during week 2; I took a drop spindle and I did spin every day, but my output with one of these is ridiculous. Hence, the somewhat mediocre result.
However, I did manage to reach my goals - spin the Polwarth and spin every day - so I'm still happy with the outcome! My first completed TDF. The secret is having fun things to work on.
Going through old pattern booklets i forgot i had; please enjoy this vagina cardigan
May i suggest
Imagine these as earrings with the sweater..... Full pussy fit
Child's Pullover (Fair Isle, c. 1913), Shetland Museum & Archives.
During a visit to Fair Isle in the summer of 1913, the Reverend [Robert Logan] and his wife Annie purchased the pullover for [their son] John from one of the island’s knitters. The garment is a good example of the type of traditional knitting done in Fair Isle for at least a century before, and prior to the global fashion boom in fair isle-style garments for men and women in the early 1920s The pullover is made of white hand-spun wool, most likely from sheep born and raised on Fair Isle. The colours are somewhat typical of the earliest phase of the craft: red, dyed from madder or a mixture of madder and several local dye sources; very dark blue, a strong indigo dyebath that required dipping and oxidation numerous times; medium blue, from a weaker indigo dyebath; yellow, made from various native plants; and natural white.

I like those tiny pins that come on rolls of vintage ribbon to keep the end in place. They're just right for that job.
Finished sweater. Really happy with how it turned out!
The sweater makes it look like you're glowing!
