I love it and think it's a good gradient.. but it will be tonally jarring and visually buzzy next to its intended partner and I hate them together 😫 (I might still spin this up in the hopes the yarns are more complementary, but I do not have great expectations)

Was there, had fun.

The Deutsche Bahn was perfectly punctual on the way to Kassel. No delay at all. I decided to take the train bc it's faster than the car and not that much more expensive than fuel (and apparently parking, as the whole area around the congress palais is now parking area with a parking fee - which I can understand.) AND I was on my own and for once didn't want to drive (AND wanted to do some train spinning. Much more relaxed than the highway)

When I arrived an older lady who walked her dog at the park next to the location asked me what kind of event was there and we chatted for a few minutes about the congress palais (small talk with random person: successful) until I noticed @glaciart 's text so I went to meet up with her!

First stop: Friendly sheep. Of course. The spindle herd needs to grow *coughs* And as we walked around then, it slowly became really crowded.

But here's the haul:

rainbow braid: 100% Rambouillet by Stefis wolle, 200g (YAY finally got some fiber from her again after... 2 years)

Batt: Art Batt "OOAK" by Wool Art (Merino/Tussah silk, Sari silk wool nepps) ~140g

packaged braid: 100% falkland. got it from the stall of dibadu

the spindle is (of course) by friendly sheep (It doesn't really like my soup ladle... need to look for another bowl or it) (Not pictured) a pretty 3,5mm crochet hook also by friendly sheep

white/rainbow sockyarn by lismi knits with a grey mini skein by Rohrspatz&Wollmeise for a future pair of socks

After a short break and a second round alone, we decided to hunt down some food and went to my favourite italian restaurant in Kassel. I usually go there when I'm there and if they are open.

Fat Horse No. 6

It’s the year of the horse and I’ve always been a horse girl at heart, so I’m finally taking advantage of the excuse to fill the world with fat little horses! These felted friends are about the size (and shape!) of an apple, and if you happen to have any apples to share I’m sure they’d help you out! The unicorn has sparkle fiber mixed into the white base for a a delightfully subtle shimmer.

Jeezz these Wednesdays just keep on coming don't they 😓

This yarn, which I am not done spinning, once it is plyed, will be knitted into a hat!

I have not given up on recycling yarn and making another batch of socks for this winter, but it is more time consuming than I thought, who knew? (answer: everyone but delusional little me)

Have you ever played cat and mouse? But did the mouse have such a long tongue? Oh, really? Well, that's impressive.

It's come to my attention that I never posted the parasol I made for Pride LAST spring! (which also came home with a blue ribbon from a local fair last fall.) I'm much more into bright rainbows with fuchsia pink than the traditional red rainbows, so I fell deeply in love with this yarn immediately.

Pattern is Starflower Parasol by Jenny Amos/bythebeachcrochet, with additional inspiration taken from Marcus Miller/chiaroscurity_designs, who also made the cute rainbow umbrella earrings I'm wearing in this picture of me.

Yarn is Scheepjes Whirl 792 Rainbow Popsicle. It didn't take a whole cake of yarn, so I separated it into mini balls of yarn to be sure I got through all the colors.

Crystals were added using jump rings, and the parasol frame came from Umbrella Joan; it's the 10-spoke Georgia Parasol Frame.

My summer project for myself is to make a collection of 16 of these embroidered thimble rings (called kaga yubinuki), these are my first 2 ^^
