Let's never forget the time my players found a very old grave that had the words "Here Lies Asmodeus" on it and dug it up.
Their justification was that of course it's not actually him, and the rogue wanted to rob a grave.
To clarify: it was him. He'd been sealed there by a famous monster hunter and was gonna be part of a later plot.
I will forever love that of all the moments in any of my games, this is the most known.

Stealth checks are one of the worst checks to fail honestly. Fail a history check you just donāt have the info you need. Fail a stealth check you are almost always immediately put into a dangerous situation
I say we make all checks life or death.Ā
Fail a nature check? You are pinned underneath a tree.
Fail a history check? You are immediately killed by a famous historical figure.
Fail an acrobatics check? You sprain all of your joints.
Fail a performance check?Ā A crowd boos you and deal 1d4 psychic damage per person in the crowd.
I went to pottery class today and opened by asking several of my classmates if they knew how to use the slab roller upstairs. Nobody did but everyone wanted to, so when the teacher got in Iām like āhey teach, do you know how to use the slab roller upstairsā and sheās like ānoā (sheās a visiting artist who only got here a couple months ago so this is not very surprising) ābut Iāve used a lot of different ones and I bet we can figure it out.ā Me: ādo you want to go on a Journey of Discovery?ā Everyone: yes. YES. *cue sickos faces* so we all thunder up the stairs periodically shouting JOURNEY OF DISCOVERY and our teacher snags another person who uses the slab roller A Lot and this person gives us a very thorough lesson and demonstration and every so often someone else wanders through and asks whatās happening and we all go JOURNEY OF DISCOVERY at them and now everyone knows how to use the slab roller and honestly I cannot recommend this approach enough as a way to make learning new skills and life generally more exciting.
ttrpg where the abstraction of your characters health is represented by an unusually large number like 10,000, but there's no way to ever add to that number only subtract from it.
The number that seemed so plentiful, becomes more precious as it gets smaller and smaller. Eventually you get down to the last few digits, finding every way to avoid the inevitable 0. And when you do reach 0, the game ends. No saves, or second chances. You had so much, spent it all and now it's done.

Hm. Interesting. Apparently cortisol production depletes magnesium stores. And I have a lot of symptomatic overlap with magnesium deficiency. And it can apparently help migraine. And ADHD. I think I'm going to try supplementing magnesium glycinate. L-threonate sounds really interesting too as that's magnesium that can cross the blood-brain barrier and apparently is super useful for memory and shit.

Herein lies the problem with the MCU making Mjolnirās āworthyā clause a generic ātheyāre a really good personā thing. By that criteria any number of superheroes easily qualify. In the comics being worthy didnāt mean just ābeing goodā it specifically meant ābe a good Thorā because Odin wanted to be sure that when Ragnarok came around, whoever held the hammer would play Thorās part in it even if they werenāt Thor himself.
Peter shouldnāt be able to lift Mjolnir because heās TOO good and pure. To lift Mjolnir you have to be good and noble but also willing to use it to crush the skulls of Asgardās enemies (Mjolnir means CRUSHER after all), something Pete would not be up for, but an old soldier like Cap would if necessary. Being truly noble but perfectly willing to kill is much more rare in superhero comics. Thatās why you get things like in the DC/Marvel crossovers Wonder Woman can lift it while Superman cannot. Being good isnāt enough.

Maybe one species enjoys getting bit by something equivalent to mosquitoes. Maybe one actively avoids the hospitable places on their planet because itās boring without a challenge. You get the gist.
I want to see a bunch of aliens (+humans) sitting around a table talking about how their own species is a bunch of freaks

The thing about "humans are space orcs" is it was originally conceived of as a response to science fiction tropes in which every alien species had its own special thing except humans, whose special thing was either Most Generic, Most Adaptable, or Most Je Ne Sais Quoi. Like, in a lot of science fiction, Klingons are Honorable Warriors, Vulcans are Logical Scientists, Romulans are Cunning Strategists, and humans are all of the above in a way that leaves us slightly less good than any of them at their shtick but better overall and able to triumph because of our lack of specialization and the assumption that we are, somehow, just destined to be the best. See this scene from Enterprise for what I'm talking about. There's a similar scene in Mass Effect where Mordin talks about how humans are more variable and adaptable and less predictable than all the other races in that setting, which is super annoying if you know anything about how much our species is defined by the genetic bottleneck we suffered during the Ice Age -- the generic bottleneck that has left us all so genetically similar to each other that we can do crazy things like donate blood and organs to each other, things other species can't tolerate.
@prokopetz proposed that humans ought to get something special of our own that isn't just "We are the bestest and specialist in some generic way that feels like a vague and unsettling metaphor for American superiority and manifest destiny amidst all the other cultures of the world," and settled on space orcs because "Pursuit predators with freakish endurance" was the ecological niche we occupied during our own evolutionary history up until we started doing the civilization thing. The assumption from the start was that every other sci-fi or fantasy species would each be freaks in their own way, and the point of humans are space orcs was to let us be our own sort of freak, too.
People who expanded on the humans are space orcs stories immediately turned it into a reason to write little stories where humans are the biggest freaks or the only freaks and we are, in fact, the specialest most manifest destinyest je ne sais quoi-laden metaphors for the superiority of American culture over all the other cultures of the world. I hate it I hate it I hate it.
Which is to say you've reinvented the point of humans are space orcs from first principles. That's pretty cool.
I think my mistake was failing to appreciate just how readily "humans have exceptionally high cardiovascular endurance due to our real-world evolutionary history as specialised persistence predators" could be twisted around into "humans have superior Will to Power", which is the other problematic special niche humans have historically been assigned in popular science fiction.

Mindlessly buying things you donāt need, just because theyāre currently trendy or advertised, or buying much more of something than you could actually ever use, and it all ending up in the garbage: that is overconsumption and itās a real problem. Itās bad for the environment. Itās bad for your wallet. It encourages companies to churn out crappy products just to chase micro trends, both negatively affecting product quality and working conditions. It can let you to use shopping as an unhealthy coping mechanism.Ā
But letās pause here for a moment. What if our hypothetical shoe-buyer has a health condition that makes them walk in a way that wears out shoes much faster than for a healthy person? Or what if theyāre really poor and can only afford the worst quality of shoes that breaks down after a few months, keeping them stuck in this horrible cycle that in the end makes them spend more on shoes than a person who can afford to buy one pair of high quality ones thatāll last for years?Ā
I know, I know, this sounds very much like those farfetched āwhat if the rich kid you made fun of for being spoiled is actually poor??ā moralizing stories - but my point here isnāt ānever ever call influencers out for overconsumptionā.Ā
Itās ādonāt let overconsumption become a meaningless buzzwordā. Donāt dilute the definition to just be anyone buying anything in a way you wouldnāt.Ā
Why does this matter? Because, if we do that, then we place personal judgment over structural judgment.Ā
All those negative consequences of overconsumption that we talked about above get glossed over if we reduce it to āif you buy things, you are a bad personā. It shouldnāt be about moral purity. It should be about meaningful change.Ā
