Thinking of one where Robin gets a new number and scribbles it down for Steve in a rush because she has a Tinder date with a really cute girl, and she does not have time for Steve to inevitably mistype his phone password several times before finding his contacts app. She rips off the scrap of paper and shoves it at Steve as she rushes to finish her hair and retouch up her mascara.
âRobin, you look great.â
Robin huffs, âI donât need to look great. I need to look fantastic! You saw the girl! Sheâs hot, and, for once, I had such a great conversation and we were immediately connecting, you know?â
She rambles on as Steve rolls his eyes and tries to tune her out a bit. Itâs not that he isnât happy for her, itâs just⌠heâs suffering from a small, embarrassing crush on Dustinâs older friend. And while he knows he could just ask him out like any other person, he finds himself at a loss for words in front of the hyper man. And usually, Steve is more than happy to ramble about random shit and flirt until he has the person practically melting into a puddle of goo at his feet.
All heâs saying is Eddie Munson is different.
And he doesnât know what to do about it but suffer in silence until their inevitable interactions where he unapologetically shoves his way into his space and calls him little flirtatious nicknames that make Steveâs mind go blank.
Steve has never felt so flustered in his life.
A snap brings him back to reality, and he looks at Robin who does a final spin and asks, âGood?â
Steve looks her over and smiles. âPerfect. Now, go have fun and be safe. Iâll text you to make sure sheâs not a serial killer or something.â
âThatâs comforting,â Robin says but looks in the mirror one more time before nodding and rushing off yelling, âBye!â
Steve looks down at the piece of paper in his hand a cringes and the hurried scribbles. Hopefully heâll be able to decipher it correctly.
He watches through the window, trying not to look too creepy, as Robin climbs into the car with a big smile before it slowly starts moving down the street. Steve feels better once he sees her date is a careful driver.
Steve waits a few more minutes before he makes his way out of the house and goes to his own. Once he gets into his room, he pulls out the piece of paper and types it into his contacts - after messing up the password and struggling to find his contacts.
Steve: So not a serial killer I hope?
Thereâs instantly some typing back that worries Steve. Shouldnât Robin be distracted by her date?
Robin: Not a serial killer but you might be⌠who is this? You intrigue me.
Not Robin. Steveâs heart races as he looks at the scrap of paper. Damn scribbled mess.
Steve: Sorry!! I mustâve typed in the wrong number. Friend is on a first date and was checking in
Not Robin: So sweet of you. Although it makes me nervous that you have no way of contacting your friend and finding out
Steve hadnât even thought of that. His heart races more. Heâs always been one to worry.
Steve: Shit.
Not Robin: Do they have an Instagram that you can message and ask for their number? Not that I mind texting you this lonely Friday night, but itâs probably a good option
He sighs in relief. The stranger is smart and honestly a bit charming. Itâs definitely a lonely Friday night for him too. He goes to Instagram and send Robin a quick message before returning to his texts.
Steve: Youâre a genius! But whatâs a genius doing alone this Friday night?
He stares at the message before sending it. No regrets.
He looks at it for a minute longer as the stranger doesnât reply. Okay, maybe he has some regrets.
He starts typing out an apology, but a response comes in.
Not Robin: Nothing much really. Debating playing my guitar or staring at my ceiling for a few hours. Both very exciting options. Although I like this new option of texting you more⌠I will say Iâm a 20 year old male though. Donât want to be texting a minor or some shit.
Steve stares at the message and his heart thuds. 20 year old male. What are the chances?
Steve: 19 year old male here, so youâre in the clear. Unless one of us is lying.
Not Robin: hmm⌠that makes you sound a bit suspicious but Iâll pinky promise that Iâm not lying to you on my end if youâll do the same
Steve smiles at the message as he types back.
Steve: Pinky promise â¤ď¸
He stares at the heart thatâs a little bold, but hey. Why not take a risk?
Not Robin: Looks like my night is getting a lot better
Steve laughs and canât help but think the same thing.
-:-:-:-:-:-
They text nonstop for the next few days. Steve opens his soul more than he has in years, and the stranger does the same in return. They flirt and exchange jokes and whatnot as well, but Steve always looks forward to when itâs late at night, and the stranger is always up and willing to hear some of his deepest thoughts.
Robinâs worried a bit about the person being some lying creep, but Steve isnât too worried. Heâs given away nothing too personal⌠except his crush on Eddie Munson.
He hasnât told the stranger the name of his crush or exactly how he knows him, but in response, the stranger talks about his own hopeless crush on this hot guy who doesnât really say much to him. They both joke about how theyâre hopeless, and Steve almost wonders if heâs falling for the stranger alongside Eddie.
But itâs a crazy thought. The guy could be halfway across the country, but Robin argues that theyâre nearby with the way the area codes match.
Steve just shrugs it off and tries not to think too hard about it.
-:-:-:-:-:-
Two weeks pass and Steve finds himself giggling in his bed at 2am, trying to fight sleep as the stranger rattles on about some kid heâs friends with that sounds oddly like Dustin. Steve shares his own stories about his Dustin and his annoying habits, but the two of them agree they wouldnât change a single thing about their friends.
Not Robin: By the way, Iâm going to be MIA for a few hours tomorrow. Got this sort of big game coming up.
Steveâs heart drops a bit at the thought. Tomorrow he was going to try to get a pep talk from the stranger before he has to face Eddie after the big final to his Dnd campaign.
Steve: damn. Iâll miss you. Iâll be hyping myself up tomorrow before I see my guy. Think you could give a brief pep talk?
He watches as the stranger types for a while, but is surprised with how short the text ends up being.
Not Robin: Just be yourself. If he canât see how amazing you are, then heâs not the right guy for you đ¤ goodnight, stranger. Wish me luck as I will be seeing my guy too
Steve stares at the heart and feels his own heart beating fast.
Steve: Good luck :) Same to you đ¤. But hey, try to get his number this time! Goodnight
He feels his stomach kind of flip at the idea.
Not Robin: thank you. Iâll try
Steve hearts the message and puts his phone down. He stares at the ceiling and tries not to think too hard about the jealous feeling in the pit of his stomach as he drifts off.
-:-:-:-:-:-
Steve is slightly freaking out. Heâs about to see Eddie, and heâs decided if his stranger is finally going to get his crushâs number, then heâll ask Eddie for his. Itâll be fine. Itâll be great.
He stares at the school and waits for Dustin to bust out the doors with Eddie trailing behind him. Steve nervously pulls out his phone.
Steve: About to see my guy and Iâm freaking tf out! Miss you :( you always know what to say
He sees his stranger typing and his heart races.
Not Robin: Weird, Iâm about to see mine too. But Iâm gonna ask him for his number!! Iâm determined. But hey, Iâve miss you too :( game just ended by the way
Not even seconds later, the doors to the school open, and Steve watches as Eddie comes out behind Dustin looking at his phone before turning it off and pocketing it. Steveâs heart races.
âSteve! Eddieâs campaign was incredible! I almost died twice, but Will ended up saving all our asses when he rolled a nat twenty during our final battle! It was so cool!â Dustin says running up to Steve.
He laughs and nods not totally understanding what heâs saying. But he sees Eddie come closer out of the corner of his eye. Okay. Get his number. Easy enough. He can do it. His stranger believes in him.
âOkay, you can tell me all about it on the way home. Just give me a minute here,â Steve says patting Dustin on the shoulder as he approaches Eddie for once. He feels like he might pass out.
âHey,â Eddie says with a big smile.
âHey yourself. Heard that it was a good game,â Steve says, trying not to do a little dance at how heâs able to get a full sentence out.
It seems to also surprise Eddie who has a blush rise to his face. âI was hoping it would be. UmâŚâ he trails off and kicks a rock on the ground. âSo, I was uh. Wondering ifâŚâ he takes a deep breath and looks at Steve. âWondering if I could get your number? In case⌠you know⌠something happens with Dustin or something. I donât know,â Eddie rambles out and pulls a piece of hair in front of his face.
Steve digs out his phone with a big smile. âHow about I get yours?â
Eddie smiles and his hands drop down to fidget with his rings as he rattles out his number. Steve goes to his messages and types it in, only it shows the number appear as Not Robin.
Steve shakes his head and deletes the number. Surely he did something wrong. âSorry, could you repeat that?â
Eddie nods and repeats his number slower. It pops up again. Not Robin.
Steveâs heart thuds. âUhâŚâ he says and then carefully repeats the number back.
Eddie smiles and nods.
Steve swallows. Shit shit. Holy shit. Not Robin is Eddie. Heâs been talking to Eddie this whole time and bearing his soul and talking about him to him. Holy shit what is life?
âHey, Steve, you okay?â Eddie asks, concerned written all over his face when Steve glances up.
Steve stares and nods. âUm⌠just⌠youâre really not going to believe this.â
Eddieâs brows furrow. âBelieve what?â
Steve takes a deep breath and types out a message to Not Robin.
Steve: Hey Eddie :)
Eddieâs phone dings and he looks at the message before doing a double take at it. His jaw drops. âYouâreâŚâ
âYeah,â Steve replies.
Eddie nods looking like heâs half on the verge of panicking. âAnd your guy isâŚâ
âYou,â Steve admits then his heart races. âAnd your guy?â
âYou,â Eddie says as his tongue comes up to worry his top lip.
Steve lets out a sigh of relief, âOh, thank god. Iâve been falling for both of you this whole time.â
âMe too,â Eddie says with a laugh. He holds Steveâs gaze. âSo⌠what do we do from hereâŚâ
Steve scratches his cheek and shrugs. âWell, I say we take a night to connect the dots about everything and then go on a date tomorrow? Eight oâclock? Iâll text you details tonight.â
âSounds perfect,â Eddie says with a big grin. Steve nods and starts to walk back to his car where he feels like heâs about to have a full happy breakdown. âSteve?â Eddie calls out.
Steve turns around and looks at him.
âThe buttheads weâve been talking about are Dustin, right?â
Steve laughs and canât help it as he walks back to Eddie throwing his arms around him in a hug. âGod, I missed you tonight.â
Eddie squeezes him back, âI missed you, too.â They pull away but stay close. âThis is going to take a bit of getting used to. Both my dreams guys are you.â
âSame here. Shit.â Steve takes a moment to look into Eddieâs eyes. âI really want to kiss you.â
âI was hoping youâd say that,â Eddie says leaning in.
The car horn beeps loudly causing them to both jump back. âListen!â Dustin yells leaning out the window, âI donât know what the fuck I missed, but I would appreciate it if you filled me in on the way home before my mom starts freaking out!â
Steve sighs and drops his head to Eddieâs chest. âWhat a butthead.â
Eddie laughs and hugs him again. âTomorrow,â he says like a promise.
âTomorrow,â Steve says pulling away and raising up his pinky towards Eddie. He smiles down at it and links his pinky with his.
The car horn goes off again.
âAlright alright! Iâm coming!â Steve yells over his shoulder then gives Eddie one last pinky squeeze before walking away.
This is going to be a long car ride, but Steve doesnât mind at all.
2 hours they have been standing in front of this stupid claw machine. All because Eddie saw something inside that he was desperate to get. Whatever it was he was refusing to tell Steve who was now pressed up against the wall between the claw machine and some arcade machine. Heâs confident that the other has blown at least a hundred dollars trying to get whatever he wanted.
His tongue stuck out in concentration, refusing to let Steve talk to him as it would distract him. Steve doesnât think much of what the other is doing. The other boy did wacky things all the time. This was one of those times as he waits patiently for the other to finish. Willing to stay all night if that meant he was able to spend time with Eddie.
Five minutes later, when the boy starts hopping up and down and throwing his hands excitedly in the air. Smiling brightly at Steve before heâs turning, bending down, and grabbing whatever he caught from the slot. Pulling it back and putting it behind his back quickly before Steve could see. Moving forward into his space, a smile tugged on the scar on his face. Not leaving any space between them. A look of confusion crossed over Steveâs face trying to figure out what the other was doing.
âSo what did you win?â He asks curiously, wondering what the other had spent all that time on. Mustâve been worth it by the smile on his face.
âOh nothing,â Eddie says tiling his head to the side dramatically. âJust, you know. A bat.â He takes the moment to pull the plushie up holding it by the wing as he dangles it in front of Steve who was starting to think confusion was his default setting.
âOh?â
âOh? A man spends two hours winning you a stuffed bat and all you have to say is oh?â Eddieâs teasing is continuous. Constantly wrapping itself around Steve with a soft flush as a result.
Steve begins to stutter over his words as he lifts his hand up, holding the stuffy carefully in both hands. His heart swells up as he realizes Eddie spent all that time for him. As the realization hits a dopey smile grows on Steveâs face, seemingly what Eddie had been searching for as his eyes flicker down to the other's lips. Moving a hand up and carefully setting it on the wall next to Steveâs head. Not caring how close they were. Both of their faces were pink and their hearts beating fast.
âSo, watcha gonna name it?â Eddie asks with a smile, one that was reserved for Steve.
âOzzy.â
âHoly shit, I am just a simple peasant to your royalty. Oh holy one, please grace me with your presence at mine tonight.â Eddie pulls back starting to bow down at the other as Steve laughs at his antics.
âIs that your way of asking me out?â He teases playfully.
âYes, I guess it is,â Eddie responds, hand aimlessly moving to twirl the bat's wing with his finger as he smiles brightly at the other.

When he was asked to be in Jimmy Kimmelâs âIâm Fucking Ben Affleckâ video, in which he pulled up alongside them in a car and gave Jimmy a little wink and an air-kiss, when he showed up at the set he looked kind of put out. Kimmel was afraid he wasnât down with what they were asking. But he just said, âI donât know, this wardrobeâŚdonât you have anything mesh that I could wear?â
When he was filming âWitnessâ he rented a small farm from a friend of mine. At the end of the filming my friend went and checked out the property as usual. He noticed the barn door had been leveled so it no longer would swing open on itâs own. Went into the house and saw the closets had been redone, in the kitchen the cabinets had been replaced and all the drawers now opened really well. Turns out that there were thousands of dollars of work and materials put into fixing up everything at the place.
My friend called Ford and asked him how much he was asking for the work. Ford told him doing that kind of thing helped him relax and stay sane when he was filming. Would not take a dime. Plus he paid for a new water heater and got the sewage system cleaned out.
My step sister was driving through Wyoming once, near Fordâs ranch. She stops for gas, and as sheâs filling up, this huge motorcycle roars in behind her, scared the pants off her. The rider, dressed in all black steps off, and she yells at him âwho do you think you are blasting in here like that, you Darth Vader looking motherfucker?â. He takes off the helmet, and itâs Harrison Ford, and without missing a beat he says
âHey! Iâm not Darth Vader, Iâm Luke Skywalkerâ
From the co-production designer on The Force Awakens, Darren Gilford:
âThe Millennium Falcon was the first thing we were actually building. I had been in London and I came home back to L.A. for Christmas. So I go to Sports Chalet to do some last-minute shopping; I get there early, run to the back of the store, get what I need. Iâm coming back through the store, and I just happen to pass this person holding up a pair of ski pants, and itâs Harrison Ford. I look at him, he looks at me and puts his head right down. I can tell he doesnât want to be bothered; Iâm sure from the look on my face he knew I knew who he was.Â
So I walk past him, and after about 10 feet I think, âIf thereâs ever a time to say hello to Harrison Ford, Iâm building the Millennium Falcon!â So I turn around very hesitantly and go, âHarrison, Iâm sorry to bother you. Iâm co-production designer on the new Star Wars, Iâm just back from London, and Iâve been building the Falcon.â A big smile came across his face, he put his hand out, and we had such a great conversation â he couldnât have been sweeter.Â
As Iâm walking away, he goes, âDarren!â and calls me back. He goes, âThe toggle switches.â I go, âToggle switches.â He goes, âThe toggle switches on the Falcon. When they built it the first time, they bought cheap toggle switches without any springs in them. Every time I threw a toggle switch, it fell back; it wouldnât hold. It drove me crazy. Please, make sure the toggle switches are fixed this time.â I go, âNo problem! Iâll take care of it!âÂ
So months go by, Iâm back in London, weâre getting close [to principal photography], and I get a phone call saying J.J.âs headed down to check out the cockpit, and Harrisonâs with him. I run down there and I see J.J. in the passenger seat and Harrison in the pilot seat. Theyâre just giddy; theyâre having so much fun. And then I see Harrison look up, and he just starts throwing all the toggle switches: boom, boom, boom, boom. [Laughs.] And I remember thinking, âPhew, minor victory. Take solace in that and move on. Next task.â Thatâs my favorite story.â
HARRISON FORD SMILES WHEN MEETING CREW MEMBERS AND IS A NERD FOR FUNCTIONING PRODUCTION DESIGN
