Btw I have been considering remaking my main tbh because tumblr has gotten increasingly more stressful and bad for my mental health and I would like to just have a dash consisting of friends, media I like, cute critters, and pretty people
I'm trying this out so this blog will be quiet for a bit. I'll be back to either officially move over completely later or to come back to this blog if I change my mind

My heart will always be soft. I will never stop looking for the good and love in everything. You can’t take that away from me.
Best Fossil Pokémon Tournament- Round 1: Match 8
Armaldo vs Archen
Armaldo
Archen
As we get close to the end of Round 1, the Rock types just keep coming!
The evolved creature to come from the Claw Fossil, Armaldo hails from Hoenn, and is covered in tough armour! A sturdy predator, it's based on the Anomalocaris, an apex predator in itself that once dwelled in ancient oceans. Unlike its real life counterpart though, Armaldo generally lived on land, only going to the water to hunt. This perhaps makes sense then, that Armaldo and its pre-evolution are the only Pokémon with the ability Swift Swim to also be weak to water! With its fiercesome claws, you wouldn't want to be on the wrong end of this one!
And going up against Armaldo is the pre-evolved form of Archeops, Archen! Archen shares a lot of traits with its evolution, also being based on an Archaeopteryx, and sharing unique traits around its egg group and lack of hidden ability among fossils. Unique to Archen though is its 401 base stat total, being entirely unique among Pokémon! And as its appearance may suggest, Archen is also the smallest and lightest of the fossil Pokémon, needing to stay light to stay in flight. Though, saying that, Archen couldn't actually fly- instead hopping from treetop to treetop and using their wings to glide! A little creature full of personality, it's hard not to be endeared!

Best Fossil Pokémon Tournament- Round 1: Match 7
Lileep vs Cranidos
Lileep
Cranidos
And our next match features two unevolved Pokémon from adjacent Generations!
Lileep, the strange sea-dwelling fossil from Hoenn that isn't actually a Water type! It's based on Crinoids, a type of marine life, also called sea lillies, that do still exist- though their fossils are abundant. The nickname of sea lillies is likely where Lileep gets part of its name, and the tentacles that make up much of Lileep's body are the spitting image of real Crinoids. Lileep and its evolution are the only Grass type Pokémon to be in the Water 3 egg group, another oddity for an odd pair of creatures! Will its strangeness win over some fans?
Like its evolution, Cranidos is based on the Pachysephalosaurus, dinosaurs famous for their rock hard skulls- perfect for a Rock type Pokémon! Unlike many defensive Rock types though, Cranidos has only 40 base defense, tied for the lowest of any Rock type with Rockruff. That Rock typing is its only type though, making it and Rampardos the only pure Rock types of all fossils. And its low defense stat is more than made up for with an absolutely enormous attack stat for an unevolved Pokémon- 125 to be precise! Fans that have struggled against Roark's particular Cranidos will know just how hard hitting that big number can be. Is Cranidos' raw power an appealing factor in this match?
Little Cups Polls: Week #49 (First Game)
A question that's possibly surprising that we haven't asked before! Every Pokémon fan has to start somewhere, and let's find out where most voters started.
We're looking only at the main series here, so if you started with a spin off, pick the Generation with your first main series game instead. And let us know which specific game it was!

rb to tell ur mutuals ur fond of them
Pikmin from the Pikmin’s pov is incredibly funny. Imagine you’re in a small group of people in the woods and you’re on the verge of starvation when all of a sudden Bigfoot comes out of the trees and gives you food in exchange for helping him collect some giant scrap in the woods. He can speak a couple of words like “follow me” and “get that”, but otherwise he’s incomprehensible and his main way of keeping you safe from predators is either by throwing you at them or beating the shit out of them with his bare hands. It’s a really weird situation for all of you but hey you’re getting fed and at least it’ll make for a really entertaining story if anyone believes you. You help Bigfoot rebuild his giant house that can fly, and once you’ve gotten all of his pieces he waves goodbye and leaves in said giant house. You assume he’s gone forever, and move on with your life with fond memories of your brief time under Bigfoot’s leadership. A couple days later, he comes back. You know who’s with him? Another Bigfoot. I’d lose my mind.
ooooo you wanna have a crush on me so bad i just know it

Best Fossil Pokémon Tournament- Round 1: Match 6
Archeops vs Arctozolt
Archeops
Arctozolt
These fossil Pokémon may share the same first three letters, but that's about where the similarities end!
Archeops is said to be the ancestor of all bird Pokémon, with all of them having evolved from this colourful bird with a defeatism problem! This status as the first bird is mirrored by its inspiration, the Archeopteryx, which was once believed to be the earliest bird as well. That aside, Archeops has many interesting distinctions that make it unique in terms of fossil Pokémon, and Pokémon more generally. Both Archeops and its pre-evolution are the only Pokémon to have their specific egg group combination, the only Flying types in the Water 3 egg group, and they're the only fossil Pokémon without hidden abilities. But Archeops specifically has multiple pieces of trivia around its Pokédex number! Its number, 567, is the same as its base stat total- the only Pokémon where the two numbers match- and it also closely matches the Dewey Decimal System number that represents feathered dinosaurs, 567.9! So there's nothing to be defeatist about- there's plenty of interesting information to know and appreciate. Can Archeops achieve a win or will its ability bring it down again?
And up against the original bird is Arctozolt! The third of the chimeric Galarian fossils to appear in the competition, this poor creature generates electricity through the shivering of its chilly upper half! Another absurd prehistoric Pokémon from Galar, it shares the marine reptile bottom half that Arctovish has, but its top half resembles Dromaeosauridae, or raptors. Allegedly, this Pokémon went extinct because they just move too slowly! Will it go extinct in the competition too? Or can it survive a little longer at least?
Best Fossil Pokémon Tournament- Round 1: Match 5
Tyrantrum vs Kabutops
Tyrantrum
Kabutops
In this battle of Pokémon you wouldn't want to meet alone at night, Gen 6 and Gen 1 go head to head!
It's almost surprising that it took 6 generations for a fossil Pokémon based on the Tyrannosaurus! The Despot Pokémon, Tyrantrum, was the king of the ancient world, and is it any surprise when it looks like that? Alongside its pre-evolution, Tyrantrum is the only Pokémon to be a Rock and Dragon type, referencing the popular association of dinosaurs and dragons in the real world. Interestingly, only in the Pokédex entry for Ultra Sun, its suggested that because full restoration of Tyrantrum is impossible, that there are theories that it could have been completely covered in feathers. Not only does this reference the developing understanding of dinosaurs as having feathers in the real world, but it also tells us that the fossil Pokémon we know now aren't exactly how they looked when they roamed the world in times past. It sparks many questions, but right now there's only one that matters- does Tyrantrum get your vote?
Kabutops may not be based on a T-Rex, but its been around since the beginning of Pokémon, and is a fearsome creature for sure! Based on Eurypterids, or sea scorpions, Kabutops is able to swim swiftly and strike fatally. It's known to reach speeds of around 29 knots- 33m/h or 54km/h, and then use its wickedly sharp scythes to slice open prey and drain their bodily fluids! One of the most graphic descriptions in the Pokédex aside, Kabutops has also been part of theories surrounding Genesect, with people suggesting that Genesect is an altered Kabutops. With plenty to like- and fear- can Kabutops win this match?
