thee thing is. once they get over their miscommunication bullshit and get together…they are literally thee most insane couple. like neither one of them has any understanding of a “normal” relationship cas has never been in one and barely understands human norms in general and dean…well, he’s dean, nuff said. so literally their days are just a swinging pendulum of doing super mundane things to extremely unhinged things. one day they spend the whole day on the floor just laying next to each other staring at the ceiling and they’re both like omg this is the best day of my life. the next day they have crazy grace-powered marathon sex for over 36 hrs and they’re like omg this is the best day of my life. the next day dean teaches cas how to bake a pie. the day after that, cas fills their house with 10,000 flowers and says, “not even this is enough for you my love.” the next day, they go grocery shopping and bicker over apples in the produce section. then make out furiously in the frozen food aisle. the next next day, cas takes dean to 1586 to show him his favorite painting. the next next next day dean makes pb&j waffles 

oh how could i forget the tragically overlooked parallel between jack and the malak box and lucifer and the cage . horrifying news: you almost became your father in the very process of trying to be yourself and cutting him off

It's very very important to me that they're friends, best friends, they like each other So Much, they have inside jokes, they make fun of Sam together, they watch movies and hang out, they check in and they don't have to pretend they're fine when the other asks if they're okay, they bicker but in the way where it's mostly fond, they have each other's backs, Dean fixes Cas's car and Cas does the heavy lifting, they eat off the same plate, they're comfortable in each other's space, they make each other smile, they hug, they're best fucking friends!

It's actually crazy that for the whole of Season 5, characters keep joking that Lucifer is taking Sam to the prom only for "Swan Song" to reveal that Sam's prom date, was in fact, possessed by a demon. So in a way, Lucifer did take Sam to the prom.

It was probably also deeply upsetting for sam because his whole life, he’s been trying to take back his autonomy. He had no choice in hunting, John raised him into it. He finally makes his own decision for once and goes to college, at the cost of losing Dean and John. He finally gets to live a normal life only to find it was all set up. Heaven made John and Mary get together so he can be born. His college friends were demons. His teachers were demons. He was even set up with Jessica by a demon. Jess, who was his escape to a normal life, was killed just so he can go back to hunting. His whole life was always set up for him to say yes to Lucifer. He was never free at all.
