hello rph community! idk if any of you are under the hell that is the beta, but there is something really important i figured out. they are getting rid of gif pages. i know, itâs crazy. any gif hunt that is not under a read more does not show up in the tags. if you are a resource, gif pack maker of any kind, PLEASE, reblog this so others know. tumblr is actively trying to get rid of the rp community and we need to stay strong to circumvent their censorship
So from what I can tell, looking through some tags really quickly - posts with links to gif pages donât show up in the tags BUT posts linking to posts that link to gif pages do. So in theory, if you donât want to repost your gif pages you should be okay with a master post of some sort per fc at the moment.
Future gif packs are probably better off going straight under a readmore, which I actually am⊠not thrilled about. (Tumblr likes to crash to the point I have to close and reopen my browser anytime I try to post/edit any pack under a readmore with more than 100 gifs and my gif packs tend to be over 100 gifs) so Iâm going to be keeping an eye on my gif pages with the account I have that has beta over the coming weeks / days to see if they continue to function.
But Iâm gonna be honest - Iâm⊠not exactly eager to share new packs anytime soon. Iâm dealing with health issues so giffing hasnât been at all a priority but when I finally do have content I feel is ready to share again, Iâm probably gonna drag my feet.
Edit: Also, if you have links to these pages already, the pages themselves still work. Itâs just getting packs to appear in the tags that are an issue. So, I guess if you guys see a pack you like, reblog it - boost it so others can use it!
I donât think itâs just gif packs. I think itâs links to any external site. I just tested it, and a post w/ a youtube link did not appear in the tags. I think tumblr is recognizing blog pages as external sites. It is not an active effort to get gif packs/rpers of the site. If you want an alternative for hosting your gif packs you can probably try imgbb.comÂ
I cannot imagine this will be a popular decision, or one that makes any kind of sense. Hopefully itâs just temporary while theyâre testing out beta. But they are not âgetting rid of gif pagesâ that we know of. That makes it sound like they are disappearing off the site. They seem to be preventing all external links from appearing in tags.Â
Sorry if I misspoke, but it definitely isnât like they are disappearing, it just wonât be seen in the search. Only gif hunts with gifs posted under a read more are present in the current search feature they are testing. Hopefully they fix it, Iâm just saying from the beta test they are doing now, only read more gif packs show up.
No problem! I understood what you meant. I just wanted to clarify because people are getting very naturally riled up about this and I wanted to make it extra dextra super duper clear that gif pages arenât being âdeletedâ from sideblogs (because I felt like it could be misinterpreted by some people), and that this doesnât just apply to gif makers/rp, but to all external links.Â
Also I edited my original rb but Iâm gonna add it here too to make sure as many people see it as possible:Â
EDIT: In the meantime you can message @feedbackbot or send an email to [email protected] and tell them (politely) that you would like external links in tags supported!!! Real humans are allegedly reading feedbackbot as of now, that is the best way to air concerns.Â
Itâs black history month so as a black girl, Iâd like to leave a few reminders for non-black people:
âąRecognize the fact that many black people are a part of the LGBT community and that itâs not just white people who can be gay, bi, etc.
âąAcknowledge the black men and women that have been victims of hate crimes
âąInclude black women in your feminism
âąIf a black person calls you out over something racist that youâve said, donât say âWell actually...â or âMy black friend says...â Just donât. If youâre getting called out for something, itâs for a reason.
âąDonât speak over us.
âąDonât act like you know better than we do about our own history and/or culture
Non-black people can rb but donât add anything.
Does anyone else have that one friend whose sleep schedule is like an ever-evolving mystery? One day theyâll appear to be asleep for the entire 16 hours that youâre awake, but the next three they wonât appear to actually sleep at all. Sometimes they appear to be on Australian time, other times their schedule has adjusted to somewhere in the middle of the Pacific ocean. (I call this Cthulhu time.) You go a week without seeing them and you have no idea if theyâre just really busy, dead, or if their sleep has simply synced up to the exact hours youâre awake and online. The only indication that theyâre still in this mortal coil is vague posts about grocery shopping that pop up on their blogs at 4:12AM.Â
Iâm horrified at myself because I randomly decided on 4:12AM for an obscure and horrible hour in the morning, but after I posted I glanced down at the clock andÂ
did i just vaguepost about myself
There are two things I love about this post:Â
the number of people who are, with apologies, That Friend
the fact it keeps getting splorts of notes every day at 4:12am

As someone who ran into the glue at 23rd st while trying to commute home during the protest I can tell you that:
1) there was a sign encouraging you not to swipe or get glue on your card and that
2) the emergency exit door was open so you could either walk onto the platform or hop the turnstile to still access the train
The protesters left you with a choice: become a fare evader (supporting the protest) or leave. But they didn't stop access to the subway as a utility.
I see a lot of outrage in the comments about inconveniencing people on their commute home but consider whose commute under "normal" circumstances -- under police surveillance -- are inconvenienced by police.
Are you upset because you're not someone who usually has to think about if you'll be singled out for doing the same thing as everyone else?
Did the protests make you experience the thing that, oh, they were protesting against?
Hey, then they worked.
And if you don't like it, well, the next subway stop is 5 blocks away. How convenient for you that this impediment was a one day, one stop friction in your life and not a constant threat.
And before anyone complains about how the protest impacted disability accessibility, 23rd st doesn't have an elevator or other accessibility options. Let's start with critiquing the institutional access first, shall we?
Can someone please explain this to me? because all I got out of this was, Protesters vandalized things, causing less money going to fund transit, causing transit prices to rise or causing transit to stop existing, potentially making transit unavailable long-term to people who depend on it, without inconveniencing anyone with a car of their own, meaning this disproportionately fucks over the poor.
Basically what happened is that the Manhattan Transit Authority raised the price of a train ticket by 2.75$. Which doesn't sound like much, but now a large percentage of poor New Yorkers can't afford to get to their jobs, and started jumping the turnstiles.
Now you're right, subways cost money to run, and the fares are there for a reason. But what people are really protesting here is what the MTA did in response to the fare jumpers.
They hired cops to literally just...stand around and watch the stiles, costing the city MORE money than if they just reversed the fare hike. New Yorkers are furious because there's clearly money to pay for these extra cops, but apparently not for maintaining the trains.
Tl;Dr The MTA basically said "we don't have enough money to run the trains so we are increasing the price" meaning thousands of people were faced with either hopping the fare or losing their job, but when people started jumping the stiles they apparently the MTA had enough money to hire a small army of cops.
And some of the context here is that the real reason the subway fares have been rising is because NYC, like many cities, has been slowly shifting more and more of the burden of operating expenses from everyone (including the wealthy) onto the backs of the poor alone. So for example, the developers and businesses involved with Madison Square Garden havenât paid property taxes in almost 40 years, although the tax abatement was only supposed to be for 10 years. Thatâs $555 million which should have helped to pay for infrastructure -- but some of the people involved are big donors to the governor, so they get to keep freeloading. And so that he looks like heâs âdoing something,â Cuomo has now hired 500 more cops, at a price tag of $249 million, to catch fare evaders... who cost the city only $200 million. Heâs happily collecting his chunk of cheese, but the poor are paying more and getting criminalized for struggling, and meanwhile the subways are literally on fire.
So this isnât really about how much it costs to pay for public transportation. Itâs about who pays, and whether that fare is fair.
THIS IS THE BEST IDEA I WANT THIS SO MUCH WHY CANT WE HAVE THIS
The best takes on this are all the other Americans going âum planes existâ and âum trains canât go that fast wtfâ
Babes they have this in like every other developed country we are literally the only ones with our fingers up our ass like this.
Lobbyists.
Big Auto and Big Oil are why we canât have this.
the most #UselessLesbian thing i have ever done was when i was trying to figure out if this girl liked me or not, just constantly arguing with myself about it, and after a couple, uh, months, of this, i was like, âgod i wish i could just like⊠go to court and lay out all this evidence and have a couple lawyers argue over the TRUE MEANING of her text messages, and then a judge tells me if she likes me or not.â and then the proverbial lightbulb went off over my proverbial head, and i dug into my mock trial folder from high school and found the trial guidelines and i wrote out an entire trial transcript featuring a plaintiff (me), my attorney (my wildest hopes and dreams), a defense attorney (my worst fears and insecurities), and a judge (my desperate attempt at rationality). the final product was several thousand words long. it clarified nothing. at any point in this process did it occur to me to ask her how she felt about me? absolutely not. did i ever stop and think, âhey, maybe i should tell her that i like her?â absolutely not. thatâs for people who take risks and i donât take risks i take myself to court in my own head.
Iâm sorry you put you thru this but I canât help laughing
âi am sorry you put you through thisâ is for real the best phrase i have heard in 2018

Weâre in 2017 but The Class of 2018 in 3018
Ok but this is even better
this works for classes that arent prerequisites, or homework that wont come in a test. imagine not doing your algebra homework, and passing with a to calculus.Â
Itâs not a matter of ânot doingâ the homework. Youâre sharing the load for the same assignments, which means everyone gets to work through 1 thing on their own and then they can look over and learn from what the other students have done.
Sharing homework isnât the same as just cheating off a test, bc you still have to process homework as youâre doing it, and for some people it helps to know that what theyâre doing is the right steps because then itâs easier to remember.
Unlike traditional homework standards, where you turn it in and donât know if itâs right until some time after, by which time youâve already internalized your way of doing it, and if thatâs wrong you have to retrain yourself. Which takes far more energy and really isnât helpful. Especially when teachers will return grades as youâre taking another exam and shit.
Also! You have other peopleâs grades somewhat reliant on you, which in-itself can b a motivating force
Also! Homework is completely pointless and numerous studies have shown it doesnât help learning at all. Schools with lots of homework, a little homework, and no homework at all do exactly the same on standardized tests.
Itâs a punishment and oppression that children are smart and morally right to attempt to evade by whatever means necessary.
I support our children outsmarting our shitty, shitty education system 100%.

So much of geek/nerd culture has been shaped by women over the years, and yet people often overlook it all. Theyâve not part of some new âSJW agenda,â theyâve been there since the beginning.
Take up space and donât apologize!
