is it bad to want to see street fighter characters in the STREET FIGHTER game? no course not i don’t even mind newcomers its just all 3… all at once when there are characters who haven’t been in the game in over 10 years. this game feels like a mixed bag that isn’t too sure of its identity and footing. they introduced JP as the new villain just to retcon the evil he did to a world tour character. they bring bison back as the big bad when they realise JP’s villainy isn’t taking off, give him memory loss to potentially do something new just to make him the same bad guy who’s old subordinates ignore him and he sits there with no real plan at all (just to be kept in his place by ingrid which defeats the point of there even being a bad guy). at the very least in sf4 as shit as seth was they stuck to their guns in making him the main villain feature. bosch should have been in the first year roster considering it was all about nayshall. luke who keeps getting pushed as the main protagonist isnt given any content for anyone to care about he’s only as important as jamie is and jamie is only as important as luke is which isn’t a lot. introducing 3 random supposed world tour characters (when those of us who came for the story didn’t play world tour or did only to get a smidge of the lore crumbs) when your base rosters characters haven’t developed in the slightest is a dumb move. ken is still stuck in his own plot that hasn’t changed since the game came out! the world warriors don’t even speak with one another. i thought that with the introduction of ingrid & terry & mai there would be some kind of further snk crossover. a cvs3 if you will. king of fighters is right there you could easily have replaced these nobodies with kyo & iori! i know a lot of people don’t think the story is necessary to street fighter but it is coherent there is a timeline & it’s nice to see how these characters grow and change over time. if the story wasn’t important people wouldn’t be mad about alex or upset when ryu overcoming the satsui no hado was offscreen in sfv. my bad for thinking that with JP and Bison & Ken having his issues we could have seen a violent ken emergence that could have pulled he cast back together.
