to simply exist
I, Frankenstein - (2014) dir. Stuart Beattie
I totally sympathize with being angry about an adaptation of something you care a lot about but the way people on here criticize the odyssey movie for not being historically accurate is so fucking obnoxious lmfao. Sometimes the point is not accuracy. Sometimes an artist has ideas they want to explore so they choose a pre-established story as a conduit to express those ideas through. Sometimes the anachronisms are the point, and trying to understand why certain choices were made is 10x more interesting than going “thing wrong so thing bad >:[“
Like you can absolutely disagree with what themes do come through, but holy fuck you guys. You are not the perfect bastions of media literacy you think you are just because you can cinema sins point out every little flaw.
so it turns out that time actually does go by faster as you get older. just like how adults told me it would when i was younger. pisses me off

When I think of Tarzan, a naked orphaned jungle man raised by apes in the mud and darkness away from society, what comes to mind is of course the smooth soft rock and roll of Phil Collins
Placed in the monthly VGen contest with Ciri, yayyy
Article. Article every time. Not gonna waste time arguing. 🙂
Article, hands down, no contest.
Also written instructions are way more accessible too! Not every video has captions, and written instructions allow you to read (and re-read) at your own pace.
Scrubbing a video back and forth to catch some important step in a video makes me want to scream!
Fun fact! one of Strelka's puppies was named Pushinka and given to JFK as a gift to help ease Cold War tensions. Pushinka later had puppies of her own and her descendants are still living as of 2024.

You guys rlly don't realise how much knowledge is still not committed to the internet. I find books all the time with stuff that is impossible to find through a search engine- most people do not put their magnum opus research online for free and the more niche a skill is the less likely you are to have people who will leak those books online. (Nevermind all the books written prior to the internet that have knowledge that is not considered "relevant" enough to digitise).
Whenever people say that we r growing up with all the world's knowledge at our fingertips...it's not necessarily true. Is the amount of knowledge online potentially infinite? Yes. Is it all knowledge? No. You will be surprised at the niche things you can discover at a local archive or library.
I’m a frequent commenter on r/whatisthispainting and the sheer number of posters who are shocked to be told that the artist of their painting is not fully described online is…a lot. Not to mention the incredible ignorance (and sometimes hubris) so many other posters there have in assuming that every work of art ever made is available online to view, complete with title and artist name!
There’s way more information that has been lost than has ever been saved. Including whoever painted some mediocre portrait they did in their first and only college painting class.
Geralt is such a good protag to me because he is an impossibly good monster hunter and swordsman, has 1/3 of the continent's population (male and female) in love with him, is very articulate and intelligent- and yet he is still a bit of a loser. Girldad to deeply concerning teenager. Is in a 30-year-long situationship. Falls out with his best friend like they're on the playground. Spends all the money he barely scrapes up on a new jacket. Immediately ruins said jacket. So it goes.

PRIDE & PREJUDICE (2005) Dir. Joe Wright
Mr. Bennet: Sure, I haven't taken care of my daughters' financial security, but have I at least taken care of their education? No. But have I taken care of their emotional needs? Also no. But have I been a good protector and supervisor? I'm afraid not. However, have I been a good example for my children of being a kind and respectful spouse, parent, and all around human being? No again. But through it all, have I nailed being funny? Yes. And isn't that the most important role of a father after all?
