why do atsu yotei and frodo lord of the rings have the same shoulder sword injury
Ferelden, 8:82 Blessed.
The Orlesian occupation rules the land with an iron fist while revolutionaries fight and die under the Rebel Queen's banner. As the recently promoted Knight-Corporal of Kinloch Hold's Circle of Magi, you are a proud member of the Templar Order, a 'politically neutral' force for good in this time of great darkness. So when your Knight-Captain absconds with a heavily pregnant mage, you are assigned the arduous task of hunting them down—as quickly and as discreetly as possible.
Yet all is not what it seems. Malevolent forces prowl both the dreaming and waking worlds, and a betrayal from within your ranks forces a choice: deliver the child to a distant safe haven, or die. Now saddled with a newborn and with no real alternatives, you find yourself leading an eclectic group of outcasts through a land torn apart by civil war, where loyalties, allegiances, and faith will all be put to the ultimate test.
Story & Features
A story-rich interactive fiction game set during the Orlesian occupation of Ferelden, about fifty years before the events of DA:O.
Make choices and face outcomes, but be warned: the consequences are not always yours to pay.
Customizable PC including appearance, name, and gender identity.
Choose from four different backgrounds to determine your surname and unique starting origin in the Prologue.
Are you merciless or empathetic? Loyal or rebellious? Devout or questioning? Unlock special dialogues and actions through sheer force of personality.
Balance your lyrium gauge to utilize powerful templar abilities...or don't. Only good dogs heed the leash.
Multiple endings for both the main story and individual companions, including romances.
Companions & Romance
Lead a group of five companions through civil war-torn Ferelden and beyond. Form connections: influence and be influenced in return.
Will you cultivate an unbreakable bond with a friend, or earn the begrudging respect of a rival? Featuring a DA2-inspired friendship/rivalry system.
Pursue one of four romance options with or without your pants on (ace friendly). Two options for PCs of all genders, one for males, and one for females.
Sometimes a crew is six strangers, a weird baby, and a dog. The dog's name is customizable; the baby's is not.

ppl saying Geralt witcher is boring...: he is weird and off-putting as a defence mechanism and also just sometimes because he doesn't want to talk to people. The idea of a witcher having no emotion is a mask that he can wear. It lets him get by without people prying into his feelings, it lets him follow the witcher principle of neutrality. But people still pry into his feelings, because they don't fall for the act he's putting up. Because it's not a good act! People are so quick to assume that Geralt is emotionless he's never had to put real effort into the charade, so anyone who simply tries to see through it, can. Dandelion, Yennifer, Regis, Milva, Zoltan and yes, Ciri. When Ciri tells Geralt 'Neutrality is contemptible', it takes a while to sink in, but eventually he admits she was right. And he's never the same. When he drops the idea of neutrality, I think he drops the guise of being emotionless. If people come to that conclusion, fine, but he doesn't pretend like it anymore. The only time he ever tries to be neutral again is at the very end of it, when he hangs up his sword, but we all know how long that lasts. He can't help himself, he has to do what he feels to be right, because he knows Ciri reached the heart of it. He does have emotions, he is a person, and is therefore wrapped up in the matters of people. He can't be neutral, not anymore.
GRRM and Sapkowski both have this fantasy author disease where they are writing capital C Crazy stuff about their female characters but are simultaneously very capable using the genre of fantasy to explore womanhood in ways that lap 90% of other fantasy schmucks. Like I have to read about danys boobs once per chapter but I also get to read about how she is exploited by the men around her, all seeing and treating her as a child while wanting her as an adult. Sapkowski is having Geralt sleep with a 17 year old AND is having us bear witness to how Ciri is seen only as a womb, not as a girl, and certainly not as a person. and meanwhile only 50% of female fantasy authors have come to the realisation that women other than them are actual real people and I don't think anyone other than George and maybe 2 others have managed to figure out that if a woman is ugly then she is still deserving of love and decency and respect and can be a main character in a book so there might be just no winning I guess.

CANCEL george rr martin for being directly responsible for 1) a Bowl of Mac and Cheese esque YA book titles 2) insufferable people saying "oh you sweet summer child" in comment sections across the web and 3) "the lion does not concern himself with the opinions of sheep" sigma phonk edits
Both jaimie and brienne being in love with their respective king/queen, both being sworn to them as knights, and therefore both being a part of the chivalric idea of courtly romance (their love never truly being consumated or otherwise acted upon)- but jaime failing to live up to that through actually being with cersei whereas brienne would never consider even the idea of actually being with renly (although i'd say it's impossible to differentiate how much of that is her being a 'true' knight and how much is her thinking that he'd never want her anyway)
Geralt is such a good protag to me because he is an impossibly good monster hunter and swordsman, has 1/3 of the continent's population (male and female) in love with him, is very articulate and intelligent- and yet he is still a bit of a loser. Girldad to deeply concerning teenager. Is in a 30-year-long situationship. Falls out with his best friend like they're on the playground. Spends all the money he barely scrapes up on a new jacket. Immediately ruins said jacket. So it goes.
And having one conversation with his mother is an immensely hard thing to do. and people throw rocks at him when he walks past their villages. and he has to deal with 500 weird men who want to marry or have sex with or impregante said teenage daughter. he is just trying to get her home to their weird drafty mountain home so she can be with him and Yen and her bitchy uncles.

Replaying Cyberpunk rn: evil corporations, rampant consumerism, the worst guy you know also being your best friend- all very realistic, but what makes me call the game's reality into question is that it tries to convince us of the idea that V could have passed their driving test

Literally forever thinking about Meredith Stannard. The last major dragon age villain who wasn't 98 percent cartoonishly evil (because she was only 83 percent cartoonishly evil). She dresses like Andraste (this has to at least be a little sacrilegious?!?!). She wanted to make the man she considered her father proud. She serves as a foil to Hawke, and knows it. Right at the very end, after everyone has turned on her and she has committed to doing whatever it takes to rid the world of evil-she asks if she is truly doing the right thing. She is an inch away from turning back, and she refuses to do so. She has a cursed glowing sword that is 2/3rds of her height.
Everybody acting like meredith being hot is some kind of revelation-she is an older lady who wants to kill you real bad. This is a tried and true formula.
Two days before period: I can't live here anymore. This place makes me feel so small. While I'm here I'm haunted by the girl I was and all of the women I might have been.
Day of period: A banana with some peanut butter sounds so good right now.
There's something about Dragon Age 2, compared to every other game in the series.
Celene briefly touches on one of the main ideas here during part of her narration in the masked empire, "What Orlais needed, she thought, was another Blight. Not that it would seriously help, and she would never wish such destruction upon her empire. But Blights were, if not easy, at least simple. Gather everyone who can fight, throw them at the darkspawn, and hope the Grey Wardens could destroy the Archdemon." (The Masked Empire, pg.95).
And there is some truth to that. In a Blight once the archdemon is dead, it will take years for the land and people to recover, but other than some clean-up operations, the fighting's over. The day's won. Slaying an archdemon, sealing a breach, defeating elven gods, these are all immensely difficult, but they are also clear win conditions. Once our protagonists achieve these, they can mostly chill. (This is kinda twisted in Awakening and in Tresspasser, where our heroes learn that not everything was tied up so prettily, and not everything they did will last. But by the end, Corpheyus and the archdemon are still defeated; thats not undone.) There is no such win condition for Kirkwall.
Hawke defeats the Arishok, and the Qunari leave, but the mage/templar conflict is only getting worse. Hawke cuts down some criminals, but the vacuum they leave will be filled by this time next week. Slavers will return to the city for as long as there is profit to be made in the trading of flesh. The only permanent wins are for the companions through their personal quests. And even then they don't all get full victories. Hawke fights so hard, for years, but this city was built to drain the life from it's people.
And this all ties to Hawke's original goal, surviving, building a new home. Because these are works without end. Trying to defeat a great enemy, or saving the world, you've only gotta do that once. But saving a city, or a person, is a lifelong effort.
if you have been really enjoying the tv show severance. and are looking for something similar to tide you over until season 3 then I'd have to recommend the video game Prey (2017), by arkane studios.
The games sci fi, and tackles themes like the relationship between memory and identity, capitalism and science, as well as family. and no spoilers, but the protagonist has a similar journey to mark, where they have different versions of themselves, and the question is asked, can these different yous ever be reconciled? are they all really you? are you them?
If you've played other immersive sims like dishonoured and you haven't played this then you need to get on it yesterday.
The games reactivity and writing blew me away when I was like 12 playing this for the first time and they still blow me away today. the game has so much heart and love behind it and that's pretty much my recommendation :) the game is £25 on steam but it goes on sale for less every now and then. i played it on console and it ran beautifully. (minus slightly long loading screens i guess, but this was on my ps4 and if im gonna be real it was a miracle that thing ran at all)
uh other selling points: benedict wong. sumalee montano. yuri subplot. beautiful level design.
(i guess this recommendation also goes the other way if you've played prey but haven't seen severance. then get on it i guess. or take your time we have a while until season 3)
screen caps below.
Found this interaction posted on reddit and I'm biting drywall rn what is their deal???? 😭
Legit losing my mind over this they could really be exes cause clearly Eris has the capacity to be sweet like this I can see how a relationship could have initiated from things like this but then fall apart cause of *waves hand* everything else.

you are two months old. for the entirety of your life you have wanted to escape the hell you were born into. you escape for less than an hour. you find out that you and your family made hell. you are forced back in. your evil twin commits identity theft against you. you take back your body and swear to help find your bfs missing wife. he gets her back. after everything. he gets to escape hell but at the cost of you and everyone else in it dying. you have wanted to leave since you were born but it is all you have. it is better than nothing. he gets everything he wanted and instead of taking it he stays with you. you take each other hand in hand and walk back into hell. for however long you will be allowed to stay. you are still two months old. this is also all happening while you are only eating like a quarter of an egg everyday. Just another day in the life of perhaps lumon's least enthusiastic macrodata refiner.
