“I know that fashionably late is considered a statement, but I don’t think this is what they meant,” Suzyi laughed.

Kazran’s face brightened as she approached. “There’s my favourite girl!” He beamed. “Merry Christmas Eve, Suzyi.”

“Merry Christmas Eve to you too, love!” She held her arms out for a hug. “So what have you been up to since we spoke last? Nothing to dangerous I hope.”

Kazran hugged her close, his heart beating just a bit faster as she embraced him. “Oh, the usual. Helping my dad with his machine… but I did go on a grand adventure with the Doctor recently. I had to climb this… enormous tree.” He chuckled lightly. “We were quite far from home.” He was leaving out the part about how he was a hero that day.
