how do you like get people to buy commissions? tbh i dont post often so i have like no audience, but i really want to try to start doing commission work, i just dunno how to get myself out there when i dont have much of an online presenece
well you gotta post, thats the thing, i think i began doing tf2 themed commissions (like people's characters), so if you have a similar fandom niche i think thats a good start; having an influx of people that enjoy your work is always having an upper hand, but for that you gotta show your work first
also pricing: you might not like it but some times you just have to undersell yourself if you really want the money, you shouldnt expect to make a month's pay just with 1 or 2 comms, there are times where i undersell myself because the money is a quicker necessity or because things are slow
give clear instructions. an image example size and a price, anything else is a text addendum or a second image, and make it important info (payment method, contact, rules/regulations, maybe an estimated delivery time), stuff that doesnt require someone having to ask you directly for an answer, having to ask filters people out
when you do get a commission, be vocal, be open about your process, about possible delays or clarifications you might need to make, ask for references and ideas, moodboards, A or B, communication is key
the reality of commission work is a lot of times you cant just jump in and expect people to give you money, which a lot of people find frustration with, but theres always gonna be at least a little bit of an entry point to comm work, usually the artstyle, but also having connections (servers or forums) or people that just enjoy your work helps
