you read trials of apollo for percy jackson, I read percy jackson for apollo. we are not the same.

i feel so bad for people joining the pjo fandom once the tv show starts. imagine finishing the show, going to ao3, and seeing thousands of fics about two people that werent mentioned once in the entire show. you assume they must be from the books, so you read the books. you get through the first two with no mention of either character. finally, you get to book three, and there he is. nico di angelo. but hes a kid? you finish the series, assuming this will solace kid will show up somewhere. the series ends and nico and will have yet to meet. you find out there’s a sequel series. you read the first book, and who the fuck is this jason grace kid?? who are these other characters??? percy’s gone??? whats going on??? you start son of neptune, and there he is, theres percy. and nico! finally! this is the book, you think, this is the one where they finally meet. you end the book without mention of will solace. you read mark of athena, and house of hades, and blood of olympus, several thousand pages, scouring these books for any interaction between these two characters. nothing, not until the very end of blood of olympus, chapter fifty fucking six, and finally. you get maybe twenty sentences of hints at their relationship. and thats it. ten books, several thousand pages, hundreds of thousands of words, searching for this couple that so many people are obsessed with. and thats all you get.

every day i get a little madder about the ‘dream job’ narrative… all i want is to have a job that benefits society somewhat, doesn’t abuse me, and lets me live a happy life outside of my job lol. jobs should not be (and arguably can’t be) cosmic destinies and identities
