With the announcement of the remake, my thoughts have been on Ocarina of Time quite a bit. I figured it wasn't a bad time to highlight the few fics I have. Sorted into two categories!
Category 1: Hello Darkness my Old Friend

A take on the Hero's Shade, how it came to be and why he's missing an eye.
The former Hero of Time is old and knows himself to be near death. With the memory of how much Hyrule suffered in the past that Zelda and himself prevented - and as much as he thinks himself selfish for it, with the desire to be a hero again - he's desperate not to leave Hyrule completely defenseless. He's learned that he'll be reborn, so he's formed a plan to help make sure his future self is up to snuff. To make sure it works, he needs the assistance of a Light Spirit, and since he has no idea where to find one, he turns to the one Spirit he knows well: the Guardian Spirit of the Forest, the Great Deku Tree.
Warnings: Graphic Depictions Of Violence, Major Character Death
Set in the timeline where Link was defeated by Ganondorf. This is actually something that's been in my head for a while because it influences my main WIP. It's practically a prologue for it, in a way.
Link is losing his fight to Ganondorf, but the aftermath hurts in a whole different way than Ganondorf killing him. The Sages all vanished with the King of Evil, and there is no doubt at all in the hero's mind that they are not coming back - they sacrificed themselves to stop Ganondorf. They're gone, either dead or trapped right along with their enemy,
The Spirit of the Hero hadn't known such defeat before, had never faced regrets so painful as these. But courage is also the act of picking yourself up, and it helps when you're reminded that someone believes in you.
Category 2: Cotton Candy (Light, Fluffy & Sweet)
Queer Zelink Week Day 4. Prompt: green and growth
Several years after returning from Termina, Link is enjoying a relationship that he can't quite define. Officially, Zelda is unattached yet, and Sheik doesn't exist. Just the same, Link loves both of them or, more accurately, the whole person behind the two identities. Sheik sheds some light on that when they meet up one day, and Link gets a chance to confirm to him that both personas are his love. Absolute unadulterated fluff.
Link is seventeen once more, and this time, Hyrule is at peace, the people safe from Ganondorf's evil. The hero's work is done.
As the Spring sun breaks through the ice on Lake Hylia, Zelda tries to break through Link's growing unease at the fact he no longer has a grand purpose.
And all the while, flowers are not the only thing blooming, and ice is not the only thing melting.
