When my younger sister got married the first song when the procession started was a string quartet version of I Gotta Feeling and I did in fact tear up because I have never tried so hard to avoid laughing in my life before or since, and I was acutely aware that nobody else found it funny at all. It’s been discussed endlessly ik but it really is crazy how many “video essays” are just objectively not essays and are rather some guy listing out things he found on google with 0 analysis whatsoever.

I will never ever ever not be angry that that dogshit “Early CGI Was Horrifying” video with like 3.5mil viewers spends so much time calling Shelley Lake’s Polly Gone 1988 “a shitpost” and going “whoaaa it’s sooo weird duuuude it’s so crazy it’s such a shitpost mannnn it’s like a living meme hahaha” to the point that his stupid fucking viewers are in the comments of Shelley Lake’s own upload of it quoting his incurious drivel to her face when it is like, an extremely, blatantly obvious feminist short film by the first female graduate of the MIT Media Lab using a literally at-that-point-brand-new artistic medium to explore gender roles in the digital age. To claim to be discussing the topic of “early CGI” with any amount of authority whatsoever while treating marginalized pioneers using it to express themselves as punchlines and jeering at their “weirdness” is beyond infuriating to me lmfao.
