Just finished reading Artemis and while it was definitely very readable like PHM I do feel it was a lot weaker 😭 Jazz was a good protagonist but a lot of the 'edgy' dialogue was not endearing to me at all and I never really got attached to any of the other characters. It also irked me that so much of the climax was spent with loretta sanches, a character we had never met before with no discernible personality aside from bitching at jazz 😭. The setting was really cool and nicely thought out though, most of the fun of the book was getting to explore the city.
not everything is getting worse. at least you don't hear high hopes by panic at the disco every day anymore
“The LEGO Movie was my favorite movie of 2014, but it strikes me that the main character was male, because I feel like in our current culture, he HAD to be. The whole point of Emmett is that he’s the most boring average person in the world. It’s impossible to imagine a female character playing that role, because according to our pop culture, if she’s female she’s already SOMEthing, because she’s not male. The baseline is male. The average person is male. You can see this all over but it’s weirdly prevalent in children’s entertainment. Why are almost all of the muppets dudes, except for Miss Piggy, who’s a parody of femininity? Why do all of the Despicable Me minions, genderless blobs, have boy names? I love the story (which I read on Wikipedia) that when the director of The Brave Little Toaster cast a woman to play the toaster, one of the guys on the crew was so mad he stormed out of the room. Because he thought the toaster was a man. A TOASTER. The character is a toaster. I try to think about that when writing new characters— is there anything inherently gendered about what this character is doing? Or is it a toaster?”
— Bojack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg commenting on how weird gendered defaults in entertainment are, and why we should think twice about them. Excerpted from this longer original post. (via 360degreesasthecrowflies)
man sometimes friendship really is just "I saw this and knew it would give you psychic damage. please respond with agony" and then they do. and it's great

The thing with being a 21st Century adult is that not only do you need to send emails, which is soul-chilling enough, but then for every email you send you have to follow up with at least three more to ensure the first email has been read. It's safe to send two more to get a reply to aforementioned first email. Has anyone done anything about this.
venus planet of love was destroyed by global warming and me i feel also not so good
Could you please draw more zaphod? He's my favorite. Also have a cookie for being cool 🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪
A man of impeccable taste! (OH MY GOSH SOMEONE COOL THINKS IM COOL! AND I GOT A REQUEST!!!! AND A COOKIE!!!!! IM SO HAPPY!)
Ok so I’ve gone a little funky with this ask because I just finished a funnier drawing of him that I forgot to post earlier AND I’m currently working on a full body, high-effort drawing of Zaphod so I wanted to do something different. I hope you don’t mind. But if it helps, there will be a really good(I hope) drawing of him out soon(ish)!
Here is me practicing different art styles with him. I’m particularly proud of teenage Zaphod in the top left so I’m attaching a close up of it below the cut.
Thank you so so much for the request, it completely made my day. I love requests so much!
in some way i have failed every single social interaction i have ever had
the early 20’s are so complicated bc some people don’t fully grow out of being a teenager until 24 and other people are fully baked mature adults at 21
how do i become productive im 19 and useless
i don’t know i’m 26 and useless
