I keep thinking about how many of these chat bots are free—for now. And of course they are! It’s a classic marketing technique when you’re trying to get your foot in the door with a novel product: let folks use it, let them get used to it, then start charging for it. You don’t have to look any further than streaming to see a very recent example of how this happens.

And it’s going to happen with AI.

There’s nothing these assholes love more than making money off of other people’s hard work. But you can’t legally charge for fanfic! So how do you get around that? You charge for a chat bot (which you trained on other people’s fanfic). You can’t charge for the content, but you can charge for the thing that produces the content.

AI is theft, and there are a whooooole lot of people gleefully looking to make a buck off of our hard work.

My complaint is about “Kanej IS platonic” “Kanej IS forced/poorly written” and “Kanej IS aroace” etc people.

I am NOT talking about “Kanej platonic au/Kanej only being platonic would be so cool” or “Kanej is my least favorite relationship amongst the crows, it’s not for me” or “I love writing aroace Kanej” people. Even I enjoy the alternative Kanejs sometimes.

I'm so tired of people thinking that overt physical touching and flirting are the only things that indicate romantic chemistry. People can be in love without touching each other so much.

Kanej working towards romantic and physical intimacy is just one of the most powerful points of their stories. It is absolutely a central strain of the novels. They both come from extreme situations that made all intimacy so impossible for them. Them experiencing full on attraction to each other and working on trust and messing up and getting scared is the point. Healing is messy but it’s about hope. They get there.

So the human civilization is pretty advanced from Rocky's perspective. Rationally he understands this. On a conceptual level he knows this to be true.

Like imagine being a modern day sailor navigating the Pacific with GPS and strong hulls to protect against the raging ocean. And from portside you see like an honest to god viking ship. Except its made of some high tech carbon fiber material. But like, its still very definitely a viking ship. You can clearly see there's 24 oars along the hull where sailors are supposed to use to manually row their ship. Also the ship is leaking and theres like one little dude on board whos skittering around patching the holes constantly. Also this little dude is blind and doesnt know about water. Thats how insane Eridians look being an interstellar species without computers or radiation shielding.
