Woves had slid the flimsi-bound volume across a table on Mandalore, muttered that every Mandalorian worth the name had read it, and looked so unbearably smug about it that Din had taken the thing purely to wipe the look off his face. It was a history of Mandalore's old forges. It was long. It was, to his considerable irritation, actually good.

So there Din sat, out in front of the cabin in the last gold hour of the day, boots crossed and propped up on a length of cold pipe, back against the warm stone of the wall, working his way through it while the lava flats to the west went slowly red. It was the closest thing to peace Nevarro handed out, and he meant to take all of it.
