“I’ll make sure to leave it at Jana’s place for you. You are staying with her, right?” The last he heard that’s where he was residing for the time being. He didn’t want to bring him to the storage building. God knows what he would do if he knew where that was.

“Yea, she’s letting me stay there.” Max nodded his head and accepted the fact that he wasn’t going to be able to get any more information today.

In a small part of his brain, he felt a little sorry for the guy, but that didn’t mean his thoughts about him didn’t change. “I’ll see what I can do. It might not be much but at least it should get you through until the next market day.”

“That would be helpful.” Max did his best to look grateful and relax. With Chris helping him he might be able to get a little bit of the info that he’d been trying to obtain on his own.

Getting the water to the right temperature took some doing but eventually she got it before she began stripping down to get into the shower. Before she stepped in she cast a look over her shoulder at Max and smirked before disappearing behind the shower curtain and letting the water warm her up before Max joined her.

He started to watch Max leave and part of him wanted to let him go but there was part of him that figured that maybe he should take some pity on him, despite the fact he was a Government agent and he was not a big fan of his. “What is it that you need, exactly?” he asked.

Max stopped and smirked before turning back around to face Chris. “Just the basics. I lost everything.” Maybe that would help soften his attitude since they all knew what it was like to lose it all.

Jana blushed ever so slightly at his suggestion but how could she really say no? “That’s probably a good idea. I’ll go get the water started,” she said, pulling away with a playful smirk before heading into the bathroom.

Max smirked and peeled his shirt off as he followed her. He wasn’t sure what he was going to do for clothes in the immediate future but he had a feeling that neither of them would care much. 

She folded into him as she felt hims embrace tighten. “I hope so too.” The world was a dark, scary mess but at least, for once, it hadn’t claimed another person….at least not this time.

Max kissed the top of her head again and smiled. “You know we could always conserve water and you could join me in the shower.” 

“Yeah. Like I said, you can ask Jana about this stuff. She’ll know where the market goes before most people so you’ll be in luck.”

“Sounds good, should make my life a lot easier.” Max gave him a half hearted smile and started to head away from the building.

“You’re very welcome,” she said with a smile, leaning into him and wrapping her own arms around him. “I’m glad you’re okay, Max.”

Max hugged her a little tighter and kissed the top of her head. “Hopefully now things will get better.”
