Currently I'm writing Act Two of 'The Sea Prince', a Life Series Majorwood AU in a medieval/steampunk setting, where hunters find and kill sea monsters! Other than that, I repost things I like + eventually post OC content here? who knows tbh.

UWAHHH thank you so much anon! iâve gotten another ask a few months ago about the fic too, and itâs encouraging to see that, after so long, thereâs still loads of support and love from you guys :â)
lifeâs been super hectic for me (iâm nearing my final terms for college, meaning my thesis!), and thereâs lots messages i have yet to answer, but iâve been enjoying myself!
iâm actually doing artfight in the middle of all my hectic-ness. and maybe beginning to post more oc-related stuff? i do still think about tsp though, other than it being my funny fish fic it has almost all the themes i Love in stories <3
super slow with general life stuff, but iâm pushing through đŞ hoping to come back strong one day!
HI I JUST REREAD THE SEA PRINCE (for like a few times now)
and i just wanted to tell you that it is genuinely the best fic ive ever read. It is! SOO good and im still invested in the story so much
I hope its not in forever hiatus..? Its so good i need more..
& i hope u have a good 2026 :)
yup uh yeah thats abt it i luv ur work :)
thank you! auogh i got a good few asks about this for the past few months/ last year that i feel pretty bad for not answering- so iâll answer and talk about things >:) i hope you have a good 2026 too anon!!
but HELLO!!! itâs been a while since iâve made any sort of post! iâm forever grateful and thankful to hear thereâs a vast amount of people who love tsp as much as i do, to the point of rereading and theorizing events!! iâve been super inactive but know that i love hearing what everyone has to say <3
so, why have i been inactive?
iâll attempt to keep it brief but iâll ramble on in the read more! iâve also posted a comment on ao3 about it here!
TLDR; 2025 has been a lot for me with life. it has been somehow the most stressful yet rewarding year possible? i didnât make a lot of creative work in general and i have to prioritize my degree first! plus (and not mentioned in the comment) on the working end of tsp there havenât been beta readers active to assist. more down below vvv
i believe iâve said it a Lot in the past, but tspâs main plot and storyline are things iâve had in mind for a Very long time and limited life came around at the best possible time for me to link what i love most about it with the narrative of a monster hunter x monster dynamic that explores the true depth (heh) of it. i love making and creating stories; with the prospect of tsp happening in my life was the absolute best! iâm still so proud of what iâve done.
tsp at this point feels like my original story that i just so happened to slap on the life series/empires cast so i do plan on turning this into its own, standalone world and story! i canât do that without finishing what ive started though, and i plan on working on tsp more depending on what my year looks like. iâm a third year college student who also does art commissions and personal writing, so itâs hectic.
iâve also been working on my ocs for a majority of last year! particularly my 1920s story âof beauty and desireâ with main character adonis and the world iâve created with that. iâve done a lot of research of the life and times, and i ended up falling in love with both the story and with my wonderful partner <3 knowing how much my stories can make my audience feel and even forming a relationship out of it is extraordinary and absolutely lovely. so switching from a more real-world basis of obad to tsp was a bit of a time that i eventually stopped, but i love both stories to bits.
spending time with my partner and other people outside of the life series fandom made me realize iâm not really in the minecraft scene anymore. iâve been following indie webcomics, playing final fantasy and reading books! on top of spending time with friends and the like. iâll chuckle at a minecraft clip or two but iâve been distant from the fandom and iâm not certain some characters will work the way i want them to (i know the skizz thing was a long time ago, but it sours me to write him as a pov character. i donât want that kind of experience to further when writing and creating for a story thatâs ultimately my own)
iâve been cutting on my online time too so that might be another thing; the only times iâm really online is to check on my kofi, vgen, and toyhouse for character archival and sales but iâve been so out of it because of college i havenât done much art đ i do appreciate being checked out though!!
finally, and this is what dampened my motivation about tsp the most, is the lack of response from my betas. the beta readers that have been with me for so long truly pushed me to continue writing and editing with my co-writer! i live for their feedback and assistance that i canât continue without them. i remember this problem reaching near 2024âs end, when none of them responded and i was left panicking since i couldnât really schedule the other chapters if they had no feedback. it all ended up with the project growing quiet and being the way that it is. iâd love to get betas though! itâs a main factor to pushing me to create more as iâll have a primary audience to workshop with before i push things out again.
iâve been busy, demotivated, and pretty distant from tsp, but its story and overall message to me as the creator is still relevant and i love it! thereâs plenty of factors that have made me put it on hiatus for so long, but i do want to come back to it! iâve actually made some concept art for redesigns and reimagines. so this story does still carry a part with me!
iâll attempt to be more active within the space as best as i can, and if all goes right with betas and getting struck with more ideas, iâll come back proper and swinging! tsp is fully plotted out so itâs really just laying everything down. for now though, iâll leave you all with some concept art to hopefully appease the masses- thank you for reading all of my ramblings, and thank you for all the encouragement :â) youâve all been so wonderful and i want to come back strong >:)

Omg! What if the cast of 'The Sea Prince' works at a maid cafe, and they wear cute little maid outfit?I WOULD die for them(mostly Scott tbh)
-đAnonđ
THEY WOULD and it would be adorable <3 see my mind half read this and thought that you meant the cast would be in maid outfits while the sea princes werenâtâŚ. god the idea of big fish scott holding martyn in his little maid outfitâŚ. cuties <3
Is 'Stars of the Silver Stage' cast gonna sing and dance? And what will be there relationship with each other?
-đŠľAnonđŠľ
thatâs the plan- (and why i havenât written out yet bc the logistics⌠how will i portray thatâŚ) and as for the relationships, thatâs something i want to keep vague but itâs mostly⌠strangers but thereâs Some loose threads⌠unless youâre scott and pearl and those two are Littered in previous feelings and ties⌠i have the general outline of the story but not. the execution LMAO <3
I'm hoping that Scott and Martyn will have an happy ending. Like who doesn't want a hunter, that he doesn't know that he wants to kill his own crush, and a sea beast, that always protect his little hunter relationship?
I also have a question. What happen's if a human and a sea beast haveâŚuhhhâŚHmmmm⌠Have babies. Will they have the human traits or the sea beast traits?
That's allđđ
scott and martyn are a Mess that they need to really work on each other and their world for their relationship to really work⌠i wonder if it does!
as for the second question, i always went under the idea that sea princes are asexual, they just sort of Spawn⌠there arenât any human/sea prince hybrids, thatâs for sure!

An Archive of Our Own, a project of the
Organization for Transformative Works
It had only been a few hours since Martyn had last seen Shelby, but he hadnât forgotten how furious sheâd been before she left. And how cold she seemed when she had left.
Martyn decided to linger in the port town, spending time in The Golden Apple to restabilize himself and nurse his stinging heart.Â
If only Scott was here, Martyn thought to himself. Maybe he couldâve spoken some sense into Shelby.Â
Martyn leaned against one of the tavernâs wooden columns while staring hard at the bar. He shouldnât be drinking, but maybe a shot wouldnât hurtâŚ? It could help him clear his head, at least. Besides, he hadnât drank anything ever since he came home. And it wasnât like there was some creepy witch waiting to ambush him should Martyn ever take a shot.
As soon as Martyn took a step forward, a hand grabbed his shoulder.
âNot another step,â the voice startled Martyn, but as soon as he registered Cleoâs jovial tone, he relaxed. âYou know this stuffâs bad for you.â
âItâs not that bad, Cleo,â Martyn turned and gave his crewmate a sheepish smile, only to see Cleo rolling their eyes in return. âItâs good to see you, though.â
âSame here,â Cleo replied, taking her hand off Martynâs shoulder and putting it on her waist. âJoel said you were looking for me?â
âYou have my attention. We can talk in here if you want, but Grianâs waiting outside.âÂ
Grian? Martyn tilted his head. Oh! Cleo and Grian mustâve been out running errands together then. âOutsideâs fine.â
Cleo motioned for him to follow and Martyn did, taking note of the pair of beer bottles Cleo held in her fingers. Martyn scowled. That was so rude, drinking after denying him getting any!Â
âOh. Hey Martyn,â Grian waved at the two as they stepped out, Martyn closing the door behind him. Grian turned to Cleo and raised an eyebrow, âHow did you know youâd find him there?â
Cleo chuckled, handing one of the beers over to Grian. âLetâs just call it instinct.â Cleo turned to Martyn and gestured at Grian and themself, âGrian and I were heading to the shooting range over at Greenpoint.â Cleo tilted their head. âI want to test my guns out a little more. Wanna come?â
âSure! Iâd love to,â Martyn nodded. âItâd give us some privacy if we have it to ourselves this timeâŚ.â
âPrivacy for what?â Grian asked.
âThereâs one thing I havenât really mentioned yetâŚ, about the island,â Martyn said, beginning to lower his voice as his hand gripped the strap of his satchel, âand about Katherine. And maybe Pearl, too.â
Martyn was too busy staring at his satchel to notice the look that Grian and Cleo shared.
â...Ah,â Grian said after a short pause. âYeah, we should definitely discuss this,â he jerked his head, gesturing for them to start walking, âMaybe when weâre a little farther from prying eyes and ears.â
âââââ
Martyn came clean to the two of them, telling them everything he could remember about the stranger that saved him, about Pearl's outburst, about Katherine's cryptic warnings, about the knife, and finally, about Shelby's strange mood. The two of them stood in silence for a few minutes, taking their time to absorb everything heâd said.
Martyn saw the shifting looks of understanding and confusion as he told them everything. There were to be no secrets between him and the Canaries. There just couldnât be.
Well, except for maybe his weird feelings towards Blue, but that was it. Those werenât important, just weird lingering dreamsâŚ.
âIt just doesnât make sense,â Martyn shook his head, baffled. âHow come both Katherine and Shelby know about the knife? Who was that person that gave it to me?â
âDo you thinkâŚ,â Cleoâs eyebrows furrowed in thought, Martyn glancing over to her as she placed a hand on her chin. âDo you think that if you showed Scott this, heâd have a similar reaction?â
âWhy- why would Scott know?â Martyn asked, even though he could already follow the logic.
If⌠if Shelby knew something about this blade, and she was close with Scott, would Scott know something about it too? Noâ surely not, right? If anything, it made sense that Shelby knew about the knife, considering that she and Katherine were girlfriends. Why would Scott know anything? Scott was- normal. Scott didnât even know much about the beasts, if he had any knowledge at all. Martyn remembered the time Scott tried to argue that leaving the beasts alone would solve all their problems. Scott was normal, in no way entangled in this- this whatever it was.Â
âI donât know,â Martyn shook his head. âBut thereâs so⌠so much to wrap my head around.â
âDefinitely,â Grian sighed, leaning back against a fence post. âWe got ourselves wrapped up in one big mystery.â
âWell, theyâre sea princes,â Martyn shrugged. âTheyâre not like your average beast.â
âYou can say that again,â Cleo hummed, crossing their arms. âI think Iâm more concerned about Pearl than anything else on that island, thoughâŚ.â
Martyn winced at the image of the witch that flashed through his mind. âI feel you there, Cleo,â Martyn sighed, âPearl is⌠an anomaly, for sure.â
Probably more than an anomaly. She just isnât human, Martyn thought to himself. Parts of her just didnât add upâ brutish strength, her ability to summon mist, her loud, thunderous voiceâŚ.Â
But that wouldnât make sense. Those sea princes looked human, but they werenât human.
It was probably a trick to get Martyn to feel some sort of way. Maybe the way he felt about Blue was one elaborate trick to get Martyn waltzing right into the beastâs jaws. He remembered Mumbo mentioning once or twice that some deep sea beasts hypnotized their prey to lure it in. But still⌠something felt off about that.
Something⌠that Martyn decided to keep at the back of his mind.
There were more important things to worry about after all, like the knife, and the corals, and just living out his days, safe on the Crown Isles.
Martyn could hear Cleo and Grian talk some more, soon shifting the conversation to something else, and he focused on nailing his shots on the targets in front of him.
âââââ
âUgh- finally,â Cleo sighed in relief, staring up at the castle gate before them. Their eyes glazed over the majesty of the looming castle, the great building casting a protective shadow over the entire kingdom. She stretched her arms above her head, arching her back to get a crick out of her spine. Martyn cracked his neck, nudging Grianâs crossed ankles with his foot to wake him up.
One of the knights stationed at the foot of the entrance stairs approached the carriage and opened the door, saluting the hunters. Martyn saluted back, following Grian and Cleo out of the carriage.
âThis is where we leave you, Martyn,â Cleo hummed, giving him a two fingered wave.
âHave fun with the royals,â Grian said. He jerked his head, motioning to the general direction of the castletown in front of them, a blur of people and carts swarming around the walls of the castle. âLetâs meet up at the Green Hearts Club later.â
âGot it,â Martyn nodded. Then he turned to Cleo, âHope you get those guns of yours the upgrade they deserve, Cleo.â
Cleo hummed, their hands coming to rest on the guns secured in their holster, âFalse is an expert in her craft, sheâs gonna do great.â Of course False was amazingâ she was the one who created Scarâs legs, and they were so cool! As they waved the carriage driver off, Cleo turned to Martyn with a smile on her face. âWeâll see you later, Martyn.â
âSee you later!â Martyn watched his two crewmates enter the castletown, discussing Cleoâs guns and the current state of weapons on the ship. He turned around to stare up at the castle gate, then took a breath before he began climbing the steps.
Martyn approached the two knights at the gate, greeting them with a nod. âSir Cellbit, Dame Jaiden,â he addressed the knights with a smile. âIâve been summoned by the Prince and Princess.â
âSo we heard,â Jaiden replied, stepping aside in sync with Cellbit as she gave Martyn a salute. âWelcome back, hunter.â She raised her weapon, signaling to the knights in the tower to raise the gate. As the gate opened, she motioned Martyn to follow her and Cellbit. âThe royals should be aware about your arrival by now, follow us.â
The trio passed through the courtyard with the statues and through the halls of the castle, their footsteps echoing. âItâs unusual that the captains arrived without you yesterday,â Cellbit said, glancing over to Martyn. âWhat happened?â
âNothing too serious, I promise,â Martyn forced a small smile, âJust a bit of land-sickness.â He wasnât super close to either of them, so they had no business knowing what had really happened. Martyn opted to change the subject. âHow have the kids been?â
âRichas and Bobby are getting along,â Cellbit said, but gave Jaiden a knowing look. âBut Bobby can get a little annoyed at his younger siblings.â
âYou think heâd be fine after his playdates with TilinâŚ.â Jaiden chuckled softly, a warm smile tracing her lips at the thought of her son. Martyn knew a bit of their situation, a mixed family of co-parents and kids all stuffed under one roof. Prince Chayanne and Princess Tallulah were raised alongside the knightsâ kids too, if he remembered correctly.
âYour home sure is lively.â Martyn remarked, getting a small laugh out of the knights.
âExtremely.â Cellbit sighed, a tired yet fond look in his eyes as they continued through the castle halls.Â
Martyn followed the two knights through the maze of a castle. Heâd seen a few of the many rooms within it, but heâd never gotten used to how vast the insides would be. Who would need this many rooms? Martyn was fine with a simple bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom. Extravagance exuded off of everything within the castle.
Eventually, they stopped at two large wooden doors with blue stained glass on its side. Sunlight peeked through the glass, illuminating the hallways with its glow, making the hall look like it was underwater. Jaiden and Cellbit each took hold of a door handle and pulled the doors open, sunlight flooding the hall as Martyn could hear the distant laughs of the royal children.
The garden was on the leftmost side of the castle, secluded from the busier wings of the palace. Vibrant flowers grew plentiful within, the most of them being roses. There was a small fountain at the entrance of the garden, with a large pavilion standing tall in the middle, roses curled along the pillars. Martyn could see hummingbirds of all different colors flit around the place in an almost calming matter. The entire garden was housed beneath an elaborately detailed glass dome, allowing whomever to visit from the sunniest days to the rainiest evenings.Â
Chayanne and Tallulah sat on the pavilion stairs, Chayanne brandishing a wooden sword while Tallulah strummed her ukulele. They were too far away for Martyn to hear their conversation, but it warmed Martynâs heart to see them so happy.Â
Chayanne was the first to notice the sounds of the doors opening. âMartyn!!â He dropped his sword and ran immediately to the hunter. He threw himself at Martyn, wrapping his arms around his waist and beaming up at him. âYouâre here!â
âYour hairâs a mess, Your Highness.â Martyn said with a chuckle, ruffling the princeâs blonde hair.
âI know that! Itâs like that on purpose!â Chayanne exclaimed, giggling as he moved Martynâs hand away from his hair. He turned and waved at Tallulah, âLullah! Get over here!â
Tallulah rolled her eyes as she made her way to them, though a little slower. âChayâ!â she chided, only for Chayanne to give her a wide grin. She huffed at her brother, but smiled up at Jaiden and Cellbit, giving them a small curtsy, âThank you for bringing him here, Tio Cellbit and Tia Jaiden!â Then she finally turned to look at Martyn, a childish joy breaking through her carefully controlled royal facade. âHi First Mate Martyn!â
Martyn nodded at the princess, as close to a bow as he could with the young princeâs head crushed against his stomach. Martyn thought Tallulahâs constant use of honorifics was so sweet. Despite her outranking him in terms of hierarchical standing, sheâd never stop using honorifics with him or anybody else. It was endearing.
Jaiden crouched down for Tallulah to give her a warm hug. âOf course, Tallulah.â
âDonât give First Mate Martyn a bad time, okay?â Cellbit laughed as he reached over to ruffle Chayanneâs hair. âHe and his friends just came back from a very tiring trip.â
âWe know that, Tio Cellbit,â Tallulah said, raising her chin and tucking her arms behind her back. âThe other captains arrived yesterday!â
âYouâre right. My apologies,â Cellbit said with a chuckle, then he turned to Jaiden. âTime to go?â
Jaiden nodded. âWeâll be standing guard outside,â she said to the three of them, motioning to the door. Martyn was trusted enough to spend time with the royals, but that didnât mean those two wouldnât have guards. âHave fun!â
Martyn waved at the two knights as they left, and as the doors clicked shut, he looked at the royal siblings. âSo, how were you two while I was away?â
âPapaâs been a lot more quiet lately,â Tallulah mumbled, tugging at her sleeves. âIâm not sure whyâŚ.â
âBut weâve been having a lot of fun!â Chayanne said happily, pointing at the wooden sword. âTio Cellbitâs been teaching me some sword techniques!â
âOho?â Martyn raised an eyebrow with a smug smile on his face. Chayanne was always the little fighter, and Martyn could see the young prince grow into a valiant hunter king if he trained enough for it. âWhy donât you show me, little warrior?â
âOh I will!â Chayanne giggled, running his way to the pavilion. âCome on!â
Martyn was about to follow Chayanne but a light tug pulled at his sleeve. He looked down to see Tallulah looking at him. âCan we not run, please?â she asked, reaching up to hold Martynâs hand.
âSure thing, Tallulah.â He held her hand as they walked to Chayanne, the prince waving his reclaimed wooden sword around excitedly.
Martyn followed Tallulahâs slow pace, not that he minded. He took the time to really take in the surroundings, feeling the warm sun on his skin. The gardens and courtyards were so well maintained and beautiful, Martyn could see why the kids would want to spend their time here, but it would have been pretty lonely if it was just the two of them playing around in the castleâŚ.
âIs sailing fun?â Tallulah asked, staring up at him with a curious look in her eyes. Tallulah was the more inquisitive of the duo, always asking questions that made Martyn think a little harder about his life as a hunter. A hunterâs life is easy to describe, so any question from Chayanne can be simple to answer, but Tallulah had questions outside of it that had Martyn do a double take.
âŚMuch like a certain bartender he cared about.
âYeah, but itâs a little scary,â Martyn looked away, scratching the back of his head. âSometimes a monster will rise from the water and try to eat you.â
âBut you can scare off the monsters so they wonât hurt you anymore,â Tallulah replied, tilting her head. âTheyâre more scared of you than you are of them, like bugs.â
Are they? Martyn wasnât too sure about that. Monsters came to kill them, and hunters retaliated against it. The only things that came close to feeling anything were those sea princes, but even then he couldnât understand them. It had to be some sick game, some weird predator sense for them to play with their food before eating them. Or⌠well one ship full of hunters surely wasnât enough for their stomachs, so it had to be something other than food.
Martyn blinked and shook his head. Now was not the time to dive into those thoughts. âYouâre too smart for your own good, you know that?â he said with a smile, ruffling the princessâ hair as they approached the young prince. âSo, howâs your fighting skills, Chayanne?â
âIâm really good at it! Watchâ!â Chayanne swung his sword around, attempting to mimic the forms the knights had taught him. Martyn stifled a light chuckle as the young boyâs enthusiasm seeped into his swings. The young prince definitely had heart, even if the forms werenât perfect. Chayanne grinned as Tallulah clapped at his swordsmanship. âWell, Iâm getting better! Dad said one day Iâll be as great as Technoblade!â
âYouâre definitely getting better! Youâve already improved since I last saw you use that sword,â Martyn patted Chayanneâs back and sat on one of the pavilion stairs. He gave the prince a teasing smirk as he continued, âBut there are other forms of combat, maybe one of those might aid you better than your sword skills.â
âNo they wonât!â Chayanne huffed. âIâll be such a good sword fighter I wonât need to pick up a gun or anything like that! Just like Techno!â
âIâm sure you will,â Martyn smiled. His admiration for the late Prince Technoblade was heartwarming. While Chayanne never met his late elder brother, Techno, and his older brother Tommy was usually busy with settling negotiations with his father, he held both of them to such a high regard. Martyn still remembered the day Technoâs passing was announced, and he could only imagine what kind of impact those two wouldâve left on Tallulah and Chayanne. He was glad, at least, those two were growing up to be good kids. âSo, I heard from Grian and Joel that you wanted a story?â
âYeah!â Chayanne nodded excitedly, plopping down next to Martyn with his eyes wide and full of wonder. âYou owe us!â
Martyn raised an eyebrow, âSince when have I owed you a story?â
Chayanne looked away. âUh⌠sinceâ....â He grew quiet for a moment, pressing his pointer fingers together in thought. Then his eyes went wide again, grinning at Martyn like he had the best idea in the whole world. âAs your prince, you owe me a story!â
âAs His Highness commands,â Martyn chuckled, shaking his head in amusement. âWhat story do you want to hear?â
âWhat about the story of the Ocean Cursed?â Tallulah asked. Martyn was a little surprised to hear that suggestion come from her. Chayanne was more the type to ask for scarier stories.Â
âAre you sure?â Martyn asked. âThat old tale gives a lot of kids nightmares.â Including him. Martyn remembered when his parents had told him the story for the first time, he hadnât slept properly for a whole week afterwards. Though Martyn liked telling scary stories, he didnât want an angry king coming for him because Martyn had made his children cry.
Chayanne nodded immediately. âWeâre sure! Lullah and I are old enough!â
Martyn sighed, but shrugged. If that was what his audience wanted, thatâs what theyâd get. He didnât mind telling a sweeter story after, if only so the tale wouldnât plague the kidsâ minds too much.
âAlright, now where do I beginâŚ.â
Martyn adjusted himself to get comfortable, taking in a deep breath as Chayanne and Tallulah leaned closer to him, eager to hear the tale.
âMany generations ago, the world was shrouded in an eternal storm, nothing but roaring thunder and howling winds could be heard across the sky. The sun had long been swallowed by ink blotted clouds, and no one had ever seen the clear blue sky for centuriesâŚ.â Martyn gestured towards the sky and balled his fist, attempting to capture the moment with his movements. With the glitter in the kidsâ eyes, Martyn knew he was doing a good job.
So, he continued.
âThe rain was so heavy it allowed the monsters of the deep to crawl onto land as if it was part of the ocean. The people hid themselves away to escape from the vicious monsters tearing and destroying everything in their path, looking to fill their stomachs with fresh human bloodâŚ.â Martyn leaned in close, faking an evil grin at Chayanne and Tallulah as his voice became a whisper. âAnd they hungered for royal blood the most, for it was the tastiest of all.â
Chayanne moved his head so close that Martyn thought he was going to headbutt him. Martyn leaned back as Chyanne bared his teeth. âThatâs why weâre not allowed by the water right?! So we donât get eatenâŚ.â Tallulah suddenly looked concerned.
Martyn raised his hands in surrender, trying to ease the young princeâs temper. âItâs alright, Chayanne! It- itâs just part of the story. Itâs why hunters swear themselves to protecting the royal family. Itâs fiction as much as truth.â
âWhatâs the real reason then?!â Chayanne retorted, eyebrows furrowed as he attempted to make a face that was both angry and commanding. It didnât work, as his blonde unkempt hair flopped over his skull mask and covered his eyes a small bit, making him look like heâd been rolling around on the ground. âIf thatâs not the real reason why then why do hunters swear to protect us?â
âBecause we believe in your family. Your family built this kingdom, made it prosperous. I know I swore my loyalty to your father because I believed in him, and⌠I believe in the two of you. I believe youâll do your best to protect the people of this kingdom, just like I believed your father would when I took my oath,â Martyn said softly, laying his hand over his heart. He sighed internally as Chayanneâs shoulders relaxed and he nodded.
âPrincess?â Martyn asked weakly, noticing Tallulahâs pensive expression. She didnât react for a moment, only to blink rapidly and shake her head.
âN-nothing⌠Can you continue the story, please?âÂ
Martyn furrowed his eyebrows in concern, but did as she asked. âIf you say so.â Martyn lightly tapped his cheeks to get back in the mood. Where was he again? Dark storms, evil monsters, wanting to eat the royals⌠ah. âThe people were desperate, pleading for the king to find a way to clear the storm. So, the king set out to find a way to clear the storm. He spoke to the wizard who lived at the very edge of the kingdom, and received a warningâŚ.â
Martyn straightened his back, pausing for a moment for all the good tension to rise from it.Â
ââThe storm and monsters may be banished back to the sea, but as the tide washes out, something of value shall be lost with it.â But the king was desperate, and made the deal. The wizard cast the spell and for the first time in centuries the sky cleared. But what the king and the people didn't know was the price that the sea took as the storm vanished. Ten royals infected with a curse; ten souls to writhe in pain as they were made to become hungry beasts, forced to consume their fellow man all for a cruel, sadistic sense of powerââ
Martyn immediately stopped as Tallulah looked stricken. She made a small sound, looking down at the ground. Chayanne looked at her, then towards Martyn uncertainty. He raised a hand towards her shoulder.
âTallulahâŚ?â Martyn asked quietly, slowly reaching his hand out to her. He stopped as she recoiled back instead, biting her lip. âIâm sorry Tallulah, I didnât mean to scare youâŚ.â
âIâ Iâm not scared,â Tallulah mumbled, her voice trembling. âI just⌠thatâs so horribleâŚ.â Her head bent forward, staring at her shoes, âThey didnât even agree to itâŚ. It wasnât a noble sacrifice, just unfairâŚ.â
Chayanne wrapped his arm around her shoulder and hugged his sister tight, squishing their cheeks together. âItâs okay, Lullah, theyâre not human anymore!â his voice had a fire in it, Martyn could hear it. âItâs sad, yeah, but that was a long time ago. And those sea princes have been hurting people ever since!â
Martyn nodded at Chayanne and placed his hand on Tallulahâs arm reassuringly. âThe whole kingdom will protect you, Tallulah, I promise. The sea princes will never get their hands on you.â
Tallulah gave him a dry smile at that, pressing against her brotherâs side and tapping Martynâs hand. âButâŚ,â her smile wavered as she looked Martyn in the eyes. âWhoâll protect you?â
For the longest time, Martyn had believed himself to be unkillable, heâd been taught his whole life that hunters voyaged the seas and returned homeâ
But that wasnât true, was it? Hunters died all the time. There was just a never ending supply of new ones to take their place. And he couldnât say he was unkillable after being so narrowly spared from the jaws of death twice, both times from a sea prince that couldâve snapped his life away in just one second.
He hoped to never have a third encounter.
Martyn bit the inside of his lip and steeled himself. He did not want the kids to see him so⌠distressed? Tired? He had to be strong in front of them, anything but weak. âHunters can protect themselves, itâs what we signed up for, right? And I have my crew too. They protect me.â
Tallulah smiled at Martyn weakly. âYouâre very braveâŚ.â
I try to be.
He had to be.
âOnly the bravest to protect you, Your Highness.â
i forgot?? to send this?? but yes i've been having a good start to the year! a lot of work done for personal things, but as for fic stuff i gotta get back into the swing of things haha, hope you've been doing good!
I'm gonna guess why this chapter is taking so long, is because its gonna be a long chapter.
oh, nah! itâs taking a bit bc iâm getting back into the swing of things- it should be out tomorrow, but in my next authorâs note iâll be talking about an either infrequent posting schedule or we wait a good while to get everything back on the mark! apologies for the long wait, but iâm in college and doing things related to my original work than fic stuff <3

it depends! for act one i remember wrapping up each chapter after like⌠3 days at most? typically itâs 1-2 days bc i was full of adrenaline in completing chapters haha, then it gets edited down by my good friend @mewhoismyself after i finish around 3 or so chapters, then i go through the edits, then he checks it again, and then we send it out to betas! itâs been really slow nowadays tho, as iâve focused hard on my personal works, so updates will be a little more sparse? we do have a backlog but im slowly chipping away at it :O!
iâm hoping to get act two off of the ground hehe, but for now iâm really just honing in on stuff for my own characters <3
iâve been absolutely curious of how the grian and pearl storyline would intertwine with each other because of some old posts dropping hints of them being similiar. (Also this has been one my fav au so thank you for writing this masterpiece work man â¤ď¸)
well- narratively they are the sun and moon, so thereâs a few fun similarities writing-wise, especially with how they view the other side! we shall see where that goesâŚ. and thank you! iâm taking a break from it rn to focus on my personal projects, but iâm very glad to be working on this au <3 itâs been really fun!
