idk it just feels so good when you realize a fandom friend has become ur friend friendâyâknow? like instead of only talking about ur common interest u start branching out and talking to each other about your lives, your other hobbies, and itâs even cooler to remain close if one or both of you lose interest in the fandom you met in. your bond, no longer dependent on the mutual love you had for some thingânow lies upon the kinship youâve built. i think thatâs beautiful
This seems pretty spot on đ¤Ł

how come goyim will make 30k note posts about why not to use antisemitic memes but ignore the SEVERAL hate crimes that have been committed since chanukah started
for those who don't know
dec 8: an anne frank memorial in the united states is tagged with nazi imagery, including the hooked cross
dec 13: a member of a jewish community center is hospitalized after being attacked
dec 15: a hebrew elementary schools website is hijacked and text is replaced with violent antisemitism
non jewish people are encouraged to reblog
i think about this a lot
The guy got his life and career destroyed by his divorce, cut him some slack.
he was also sexually assaulted by a man who could destroy his career
protect him
reblog if the man on the right is just as beautiful as the man on the left
people grow old? like, thatâs a thing that happens? leave my guy alone.
This man deserves everything let him he happy
Ok⌠This is what happened to Fraser
-His wife ditched him and asked for 900k a year,
-He was sexually assaulted which he said kicked him into a deep depression
-He stated that the stunts from the 3rd Mummy movie completely destroyed his body and he was in and out of the hospital for 7 years even having to get surgery to repair his vocal cords.
-He apparently blamed himself for all this which only worsened his depression.
This man has literally been through hell this past decade so please lets cut him some slack and wish him the best
All this but also that picture on the right is a really bad paparazzi photo compared with a professional quality movie promo still. No one looks good when some random person snaps you on the street, regardless of who you are.
Compare with this image from the GQ article last February:
Proper lighting, professional setting, good angles etc.
The dude is 49 and has had a rough couple of decades, but heâs still lovely to look at, and Iâll fight anyone who says otherwise.
Plus, now heâs in Doom Patrol, which makes me happy af.
And letâs not forget he was probably slightly to severely dehydrated to look that buff in he first photo. And Iâm so pleased he got work again he seems like a good sort, and from the stealth pilot in Titans, Doom Patrol looks like it should be good.
It shouldnât even matter what heâs been through. Body shaming of ANYONE is wrong.
ALL OF THIS
Plus
2019 Brendan is still slaying, so btfu
This post keeps getting better and Iâm here for it
I love this whole thread
The last time I saw this it was only at the first âcut him some slackâ part and it just progressively gets better each time.
We support this Brendan Fraser in this home
Iâll say it again, the blue sweater photo in the OP was chosen because it was the most unflattering photo of him from that day. Itâs a hatchet job! The same day:
I mean, look at this adorable face:
he looks like a really kind dad who would give good hugs and watch rubbish movies with me
Every time I see this itâs 1000 times better.
ALWAYS REBLOG to protect this man. He deserves it.
Must be protected at all costs.
Protect Brendan Fraser.

I think humans are meant to see the ocean.
fun fact, there may be an explanation for this in something called the Aquatic Ape Hypothesis! There are some evolutionary biologists who think that at some point after the split from chimpanzees, our ancestors may have briefly become aquatic mammals but bailed out before becoming fully adapted to life in the water. There are several quirks of human anatomy that may suggest this is the case:
Humans have a much higher percentage of body fat than most other land-dwelling mammals, weâre much closer to various aquatic mammals who rely on that fat for buoyancy & insulation.
We may have lost most of our body hair because it would have created drag as we swam through the water, but kept most of our head hair because it would protect our scalps from damage from the sun when we would come up for air.
Weâre one of the only land-dwelling animals that are able to hold our breath.
Human infants instinctively know to hold their breath underwater, keep their heads up, and try to swim upwards (theyâre not strong enough but they do the motions correctly), whereas the infants of other primates simply panic and drown, suggesting this isnât simply due to having spent 9 months in the uterus. Â
Children who swim very frequently are able to contract their pupils at will, something that is helpful in seeing more clearly underwater. This can especially be seen among children of the Moken tribe from an island off the coast of Thailand who rely on this ability for catching fish and clams, but can be trained in children anywhere.
Humans are the only primates who retain some small amount of webbing between our fingers and toes, some people more than others.Â
Females have permanent breasts with fatty tissue that doesnât assist in milk production but does assist in buoyancy that would be ideal for breast feeding while floating on your back.
Our dependence on iodine for proper brain and metabolic function is highly unusual for land dwelling animals but would not be an issue for ocean dwelling creatures.
Now, this is only a hypothesis, and it has opponents who argue that aquatic life isnât the only explanation for any of these traits and there isnât sufficient evidence in the fossil record, however the fossil record also doesnât rule the possibility out. So who knows, this may be the source of your longing for the ocean!
Okay thatâs fucking cool
Found this which goes into even more detail about the hypothesis
We also figured outâthe hard wayâthat the ancients probably cut each layer of linen to the proper shape before gluing them together. For our first linothorax, we glued together 15 layers of linen to form a one centimeter-thick slab, and then tried to cut out the required shape. Large shears were defeated; bolt cutters failed. The only way we were ultimately able to cut the laminated linen slab was with an electric saw equipped with a blade for cutting metal. At least this confirmed our suspicion that linen armor would have been extremely tough. We also found out that linen stiffened with rabbit glue strikes dogs as in irresistibly tasty rabbit-flavored chew toy, and that our Labrador retriever should not be left alone with our research project.
I love this in every way possible. What is it from? Where can I read more?

âUnraveling the Linothorax Mystery, or how Linen Armor Came to Dominate our Lives.â

I wrote my final paper for english on ancient forms of armor, and let me tell you, linothorax is literally one of the most advanced forms of armor, EVER. The handwoven fibers of linen, stacked on top of each other in dozens of layers, made the armor basically impenetrable, and could easily protect the wearer from any slashing or cutting blows. On top of this, it was incredibly lightweight, breathe able and even water repellant. Compared to the heavy bronze Hoplite armor, this shit was the sexiest armor in town
I just saw the words âADHD privilegeâ and Iâd say my whole brain ground to a halt, but letâs be honest, thatâs nothing new.
ADHD privilege is forever being late because time blindness is a thing that exists and time is a meaningless construct.
ADHD is living in a constant state of sleep deprivation as we try to fit our lives around a 9-5 work/school schedule not designed for us as our circadian rhythm kicks in much, much later than neurotypical peoples, making us natural night owls.
ADHD privilege is forever feeling overwhelmed and like youâre never achieving anything, because unlike neurotypicals, you donât get a hit of dopamine for doing simple tasks like folding laundry or remembering to take care of yourself. Youâre not bad, lazy or worthless. Youâre literally not getting enough dopamine fo your brain to work.
ADHD privilege is having our meds be extremely hard to get because neurotypical people who donât need the same chemical brain support as we do abuse them the shit out of them then claim theyâre bad. And no, reliance on a medication that helps you is not addiction, you are not weak or failing because you need meds. Also side note: addiction is a mental illness and itâd be super swell if people could stop demonizing it and using it as justication to deny people help!!!
True ADHD privilege is being the one person in the friend group who is able to afford a therapist who actually knows ADHD isnât the âcanât sit still, lazy badâ disorder and relaying all the new things you learn each week in the hopes it might help someone else.
For context, this was on my FB timeline, and yes it was some neurotypical bullshit about how âGiftedâ we are, and how we only need to realize it because âsuccess is one part talent and two parts griftâ.
They took it down the moment me and several other friends lost our neurodivergent minds in the comments. But yeah. âADHD privilegeâ. Wild.
Pretty sure what they thought was a gift and called âADHD Privilegeâ is really just hyperfocusing.
It looks like someone tirelessly churning out some of the most incredible, well thought out, detailed work (whether fan or original content) chock full of symbolism and connections most folks wouldnât have ever made. It looks like art, music, stories, thoughts, theories, and ideas unlike anything made before by one of their peers.
It is spending hours, even days relentlessly hyperfocused on one tiny thing, not eating or sleeping or hydrating or exercising or doing work or chores or anything except thinking about the object of your hyperfixation; not because you want to but because you are literally, physically, mentally unable to stop.Â
It is sleepless nights, physical and mental fatigue, and sudden dizziness from one or multiple of the half dozen ways you forgot to take care of your body.Â
It is distress at being pulled away from your fixation and becoming irrationally, extremely angry at the one who dragged you away.Â
It is mounting anxiety as you become increasingly aware of what you should be doing but arenât because this thing has so utterly consumed you. The fear of what is going undone, what is being lost, how much youâll have to catch up on, or worse, start from scratch. Few fears are greater than that of having to figure out how to start over.
Then, all of a sudden, you canât stand it anymore. Mere moments ago you couldnât stop, but now, without warning, in the middle of a thought, you cannot continue. At last, you are released from that fixation. But there is no peace in it. There is no closure, nor relief. It leaves you empty, ill from lack of self-care, and longing for the boundless energy and focus and creativity you had before.
And then they come. The ones who saw not your plight but its products. They praise you for what you created, and condemn you for what went undone in your helpless fervor.
Hyperfocusing is a fire burning within you, burning you up to shine itself brighter; until one day it just dies, freeing you of itâs pain and destruction but leaving you anting of itâs warmth and light; for it has hollowed you out, leaving you charred and crumbling and cold; and these bystanders, uninformed and uncaring, have the audacity to bask in your fire while reprimanding your ashes for the smoke they have caused.
This is exactly what they were implying and also Exactly how it feels and oh my god, thank you.

i just read a washington post article on romcoms aging poorly due to the pushiness (and oft-stalkery conduct) of the male characters therein, and it got me thinking about pride and prejudice, and specifically darcy saying, âone word from you will silence me on this subject forever.â
because, like, thatâs the seldom-portrayed romantic dream in the patriarchal hellscape that is our world, isnât it?
a dude being willing to say, âi understand if you donât feel the same way about me, and iâll leave you alone forever about this if my attention is unwanted.â
so simple, yet so wonderful in its basic human decency
and dudes to this day wonder why women still swoon over darcy
Note also: Elizabeth turns down Darcyâs first proposal, and in the process, accuses him of doing some stuff he did not do (and also some stuff he totally did).
The next day, he surprises her on her walk. He hands her a letter, asks that she read it, and then takes off.
When this happened to me after I had turned someone down IN REAL LIFE, the letter contained a passionate argument to the tune of âactually youâre wrong and you do like me and you should go out with meâ and it was creepy af.
Darcyâs letter to Elizabeth starts with: âBe not alarmed, Madam, on receiving this letter, by the apprehension of its containing any repetition of those sentiments, or renewal of those offers, which were last night so disgusting to youâ. He goes on to set the record straight about the stuff he didnât do (as well as the stuff he did) which is *actually relevant* to Elizabeth. And he, as promised, doesnât romance her further.
Itâs totally bizarre that even now, this can be considered unusually great dude behaviour.
Darcyâs first proposal:Â âYou must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you.â
Darcyâs second proposal:Â âOne word from you will silence me on this subject forever.â
His whole arc in the book is about learning to consider other peopleâs feelings and not just his own, but the fact that itâs expressed via who gets to talk and who is told to shut up is so, so telling. The first time around, he imposes his voice on her whether she wants it or not. The second time, he asks how she feels, and in exchange, offers her the gift of his silence.
And yeah, the fact that dudes still! have! not! learned! this! lesson! is exhausting.
How surprising is it that Pride and Prejudice was written by a woman, when many romantic comedies are produced and directed by men?
Answer: not at all
200 years later and the world is still full of guys who think theyâre a Mr Darcy when theyâre actually a Mr Collins.
200 years later and the world is still full of guys who think theyâre a Mr Darcy when theyâre actually a Ross Geller.
All of this.
