also happy pride to these repressed bisexuals
you have to consciously unlearn racism and continue to watch for it because it will come out without realizing. because so much of society is structured around it. shrugging and going "i dont care" or "i dont know how else to say it" means you are okay with being racist and hurting other people with how much you dont give a shit about them.

republicans: homeless people should be ground into sausage and fed to schoolchildren
democrats: persons experiencing houselessness should be ground into sausage and fed to schoolchildren
this post posits a utopian world where either of these parties would support feeding schoolchildren, making it a masterclass in "hopepunk"
the issue with growing up in the 2000s and 2010s was like there was this really big push toward "accepting your weirdness" overall but they meant like idk wearing mismatched socks or something not being tangibly beyond the norm in any way shape or form
I think leftists need to refer to the United States as a slave state more often. It has one of the highest prison populations per capita of any nation, slavery is legal as punishment for a crime, and Black people are disproportionately imprisoned and given longer sentences. The prison industrial complex is modern-day slavery
A lot of us are like Clark in a way. Not in his behaviors or in his inability to want to change but in the way that we will cling to the one piece of identity that makes us special. Even when is all forms except for a technicality we arenāt and havenāt been that thing. Most of us will end up working some dead end job that we never wanted to stay afloat and still walk around Iām a ______ when youāre not.
Clark wanted to be an architect. He wanted to design, most likely have his name known and be something BE someone. But heās not. Heās never been an architect. Heās a sales man and a shitty one at that.
I myself am a fraud of a āprofessional artistā. I create, and sketch, and write but I have nothing to really show for it. No completed projects. Just a a decade worth of art that not many people care to see. Iām stuck working meaningless jobs that I donāt care for just so that I can put food on the table and yet I will refer to myself as an artist every single time someone asks.
Itās who I am. It who Iāll always be. My love and passion for being an artist is much like Clark. I want it. I crave it. I will go in sane for it but there is a chance I may never reach that dream. Iām no professional Iām an amateur at best and a hobbies at worse.
I relate to Clark on his anger and persistence when it comes to being referred to as an architect . (definitely shouldnāt have treated people the way he did but regardless ) Iāve worked so hard to get to this point in my art experience and Iām still going round and round on my hamster wheel of creativity. Clark the complex man you are. No one can make me form a solid opinion on you .
The only difference between most of us and Clark is most of us want to change. We want to do better and become the version of ourselves we have in our heads. Hopefully we can evolve in ways that Clark refused to. Iām an artist and I must create.

I thought I could never care for anyone again, until I met you.
The Golden Girls, S2E5: āIsn't It Romanticā
#happy pride to this episode of a sitcom from the 1980s!!!!
when I was in high school I had a literature teacher who had a policy of unlimited extra credit. All you had to do was read a book by a notable author (his discretion) and have a little chat with him after school to prove that you read it. No limits, no need for variety (one month I decided I really loved Kurt Vonnegut and just read everything of his I could get my hands on).
Yes, I was tearing through books constantly, and talking to this teacher at least weekly. Because even though I always loved reading as a kid, literature was always a very weak subject for me in terms of a teaching-to-standardized-test school setting (I just do awful on "what color were the curtains" type multiple choice questions. Those details don't stick in my memory THEY JUST DON'T). But that didn't matter for this class. I could just read my way out of any bad test score. I have always had fond memories of how I "fudged" my way through that class and "abused' the extra credit policy.
I was thinking about it again today, and only just now realized that he absolutely tricked me into being well-read, while my teenage self thought I was totally getting away with something. THAT MOTHERFUCKER. I hope he's doing well.
āRappers only talk about their money, cars, and clothes!ā
Why might someone from a group of people that historically have been denied access to wealth, now brag that they have it?
āRappers only talk about sex!ā
Why might someone from a group that have historically been denied sexual autonomy now brag about their sexual escapades on their own terms?
āRappers only talk about drugs and crime!ā
Why might someone from a group that historically have been denied the more legal means to acquire wealth and had drugs forced on their community talk about their experiences with it?
It's nuts how common it is to not allow children to be angry, even (especially) in households where adults are angry all the time. As a child I knew my own anger was unacceptable--not just expressing it outwardly but feeling it at all. So now as an adult my immediate reaction to my own anger is often to feel guilt instead of like. Noticing when someone is being rude or unfair or my boundaries are being violated or whatever. fucked up.

i've never been happier for two people in my entire life.
you should really get comfortable believing in love and magic and whimsy or youāll continue to live a half-life for the rest of the time you have on earth
