Thereâs a plaque. A Good Solider.Â
Itâs been there since the first time Steph was invited to the Batcave. Still is.
She thinks it was Alfred who made it. Bruce never wanted soldiersâ kind of, anyway. You wouldnât believe it if you only saw how he treated Cassâ Stephâs not 100% sure Bruce even knows her name; Cass is just âBatgirlâ to him.Â
But Bruce never wanted soldiers! He told Steph that at every stepâ he didnât want to involve more children than already were, didnât want more children to die than already had.

Maybe he only wanted good soldiers. Steph never was that. Following ordersâ not her forte. Survivingâ not that, either.
âI never got a memorial,â she whispers. The plaque is gold, engraved, and meticulously dusted; the costume is perfectly preservedâ burn marks, bloodstains, and all.
Steph thinks her Robin costume is probably shoved in a box somewhere. Or maybe Bruce burnt it to rid himself of her mistakes.
âYou never died,â Barbara shoots back, uncaringly, without even turning her head from the computer.
Steph stares. Shiny perfect gold and purple, cleaned and stitched up, folded up in a glass case right next to Jasonâs.
Itâs a memorial.Â
And Barbaraâs still alive.Â
And Steph died.Â
She keeps her eyes on it, accusingly, but Barbara never looks.Â
No one ever looks.Â
So Steph bites her tongue. Pushes the bloody part again her teeth, swallows some of the salty red. She smiles. âI flat-lined, actually.âÂ
Barbara isnât even looking. She wonât see the blood.
âOh, really? I thought that was another thing Leslie lied about.âÂ
Steph looks at the back of Barbaraâs head (Itâs all she ever sees of her, it sometimes feels like) and keeps her bloody smile up. âWasnât, capân.â
Finally, Babs stops typing. She leans back in her chair. And still doesnât look at Steph. âOne of your drug dealers was either crazy, stupid, or both. He went to the emergency room after an encounter withâ and i quoteâ someone pretending to be Batgirl,â she says, with a dark enjoyment, before turning around and rolling to her car.Â
And she keeps talking. Something about Thrill, or drugs, or the culprit, or whatever.
I died, Steph wants to scream. I died and no one but Cass cared, and you think sheâs stupid for it!Â

Steph is justâŚÂ tired. She is dragging her coffin behind her constantly. And no one looks except to yell at her for the smell of rot or the grave dirt making a mess.Â

Youâre a regular office worker born with the ability to âseeâ how dangerous a person is with a number scale of 1-10 above their heads. A toddler would be a 1, while a skilled soldier with a firearm may score a 7. Today, you notice the reserved new guy at the office measures a 10.
You decide itâs best to find out what you can about this person. Cautiously, you approach his desk. Heâs a handsome man, tall, but with a disarming smile. How could such a friendly guy with such cute, dorky glasses be dangerous?
You extend your hand. âI noticed youâre new here. Whatâs your name?â
He shakes your hand warmly. His gaze is piercing, as if heâs looking right through you. âThe nameâs Clark,â he says. âSo, how long have you worked for the Daily Planet?â
Itâs been a few weeks, and one of Clarkâs friends shows up. Sheâs pretty and all, enough muscle that she must work out. First thought would be that she should be maybe a 6.
Clarkâs introducing her around.  âThis is my good friend, Diana, sheâs in from out of town.â
You blink, and take a step back in fear. Youâve never seen an 11 before.
The day Bruce Wayne shows up for his long promised interview with Lois Lane, you canât help it, the mug your holding drops from your fingers and sends a shock of hot coffee and ceramic shards across the floor.
Clark stops a few feet away and squints at you worriedly from behind those ridiculous glasses youâre 99% sure he doesnât actually need, and asks tentatively, âEverything all right?â
You ignore him in favor of staring at the inky dark numerals hovering over the beaming fool gesticulating some fantastic yacht story for a gaggle of secretaries and minor columnists.
Thatâs it. Your gift has officially gone haywire. There is no other explanation. Because there is absolutely no way that Brucie Wayne is a 10.
At this point, youâve seen it all. Miled manner reporters and billionaires at a 10 and a model-like woman at 11. You were really starting to doubt your power. The day you really stopped believeing in it was when Bruce Wayne came for another visit, and this time with a kid. The kid couldnât be more than 10 years old, a bit on the short side.
The day you started believing in it again was when you saw on tv the formation of something called the justice league.
There were those same numbers over superman, batman, wonder woman and robin. Thatâs when you put two and two together. You wonder how nobody at the daily planet noticed that Clarke was Superman with glasses. You wonder why you didnât notice. You wonder why nobody put two and two together that Diana Prince and Wonder Woman looked exactly the same. You look in the mirror as the realization hit you and you see your own number change from a 3 to a 9.
The revelation hits you like a ton of bricks. Seeing the 9 above your head, dozens of questions fire off like rapid fire.
How did this happen?
How could this happen?
Itâs then you realize: You know the identiities of the worldâs greatest superheroes. This brings up a new, and very dangerous question. One that you are too afraid to answer.
That question being: What are you going to do with this knowledge.

Look I don't think Supergirl (2026) is secretly a perfect masterpiece or anything (I personally thought it was like. a 6/10 fun time) but I do think it's wild that Tumblr isn't going crazy for it because this Kara is one coattailed suit away from being a Tumblr sexyman. she is the flawed messy female character people have supposedly been clamouring for. she's the popular archetype of a gruff self-destructive alcoholic middle-aged man begrudgingly having to look after a kid and growing fond of them but genderswapped and also 23. she's allowed to be visibly messy and kind of gross and her hair is constantly all over the place and she literally cries, screams, throws up, and pisses onscreen. she's caustic and mean and puts up an act of carelessness but has a heart of gold. she's heavily traumatised and coping with it terribly. if anything happens to her dog she will kill everyone in this room and then herself. she spends most of the movie in a trench coat and baggy band T-shirt. she gets into bar brawls and breaks a guy's hand. she is Going Through It 24/7 and looks the part. she stabs a guy in the throat. how is everyone else not obsessed with her.
