counting moon rocks for the cause

This photo always cheers me up a bit. It’s a front-page article from 1955 about Christine Jorgensen, one of the first women to have sex-reassignment surgery.

Since the text is a bit small and I couldn’t find a larger copy, here’s what the small blurb says:

A World of a Difference

George W. Jorgensen, Jr., son of a Bronx carpenter, served in the Army for two years and was given honorable discharge in 1946. Now George is no more. After six operations, Jorgensen’s sex has been changed and today she is a striking woman, working as a photographer in Denmark. Parents were informed of the big change in a letter Christine (that’s her new name) sent to them recently.

In case you don’t know this story, the Norse gods wanted a wall around Asgard to protect themselves and a jotun only known as The Builder offers to make it in exchange for Freya, Sun and Moon. Freya gets rightfully pissed and refuses (no word on Sun or Moon’s feelings about this), so Loki turns into a female horse and lures The Builder’s horse away, causing all work on the wall to stop. Because he can’t finish the wall The Builder has to leave without Freya, Sun and Moon. Loki disappears for 9 nine months and returns with an eight-legged foal (yes, he had sex with the horse and got pregnant. I know you all love that part). The end.

For some reason people often leave out that The Builder wanted Sun and Moon too, and English translations often translate it to “the sun and moon” as if he wanted the heavenly bodies, but no, he wanted the goddess and god responsible for said heavenly bodies. He absolutely intended to have sex with all of them which is why a lot of translations leave out Moon because ew that’s gay.

I was walking amongst dragonflies the same day I got my EVPs and was feeling down because I didn't feel I was capable of starting my own business.

A mutual saw a dragonfly and thought it was a symbol and asked me about it, and I hadn't thought of them as a symbol myself before so it stuck in the back of my mind.

I was scrolling on twitter yesterday or the day before, and Gary Galka - who makes paranormal equipment - tweeted about how his daughter saw a dragonfly and later that day started work as an elementary school teacher and was assigned 'dragonfly class'.

I bought supplies to make new products for etsy yesterday, but today was still feeling I had something else to offer and make. In searching, I found 4 [items] which were large dragonflies. Then I realised... Wait a minute... I had 4 [item] left over which would go perfectly with those!

Spell to Bless a Freshly Planted Garden

Chances are good that you’ve planted your garden in the past couple of weeks, so now that your flowers and herbs are getting ready to grow it’s the perfect time to do a bit of blessing magic.

May 29 was the date of the Ambarvalia Festival, an agricultural holiday in which tributes were made to the gods and goddesses of planting and crops to ensure a bountiful harvest.

Materials

Milk

Honey

Wine

A bowl

Do this spell early in the morning, after the sun has risen.

Blend equal parts of honey, milk, and wine in the bowl.

Beginning at the North side, walk around your garden in a clockwise Direction, dipping your fingers in the mixture and sprinkling it on to the soil.

As you do, say:

Honey for the bees

Wine for the Divine

And milk for growth in this garden of mine

Pour anything left in the bowl right into the center of your garden.
