Not Quite Spooky
I don't know why, but dealing with my grandmother's desk (my cousins gave it to me as they were cleaning out my late aunt's house) has felt very - - ok, I don't think I have a word for this emotion.
I have put just a couple of my own things in it; some paperwork, stamps, address labels. I feel like I should carry them into the room in both hands, ceremonially. It may be heightening this feeling that my aunt never used it for anything, so it feels like it came direct from my grandmother to me. A letter from her niece, with family photos, untouched since 1992. Ledger of farm expenses. Fifteen-cent stamps.
I just took a roll of tape in there. Went to set it in a drawer, but all the hair on my arms was standing up. I set it on top of the desk, instead. Feelings. I don't know which ones they are, but I am Feeling them.

I got cheated... I got swindled... I got ambushed... I understand some people got ripped off more than I... but my grandfather (dad's side)... always took care of himself... One spring... I literally just looked for a nice heirloom styled notepad... and found 1 that costs ~$4... heirloom, doesn't mean expensive... but if you buy, to pass down to your grandkids...
