“rin…” sae stood crouched, hands shoved into pockets not to warrant the cold away, rather to have a place to hide. His luggage might as well have a thin layer of snow piling up on its top. Rin was seated a few meters away, opposite to his brother with joy shining in his eyes. Running to warm himself with a hug, that of course if sae wouldnt have backed away.

“sae?” confusion struck rin, if he hadnt just moved away one could assume the (now) midfielder was frozen. It was out of place, out of character, sae was a statue in a lively parade. Rin couldnt tell where his eyes were headed, surely not at himself, hell even his pupils were unmoving.

“big bro?” he pushed again, hoping for something. Sae looked devasted, exhausted, his eyes devoid of the light that always ignited rins happiness. Everything was wrong and no one could push them in the right direction. A step forward again; this time sae didnt move, didnt back away, eyes still locked onto the white changing grass.

To hell if rin could look at his brother like this anymore, running to his arms. “rin…” it sounded broken. Uncharacteristic for his brother. His arms slowly rose to hold the younger. The midfielders face was obscured from him, instead hearing the faint beat of a heart, the beat that moved vividly on days where they laughed, the beat that now lay quiet, as if ashamed to be heard.

Snow fell around them, although not the majestic type. It was a melancholic picture, something an old man would reminisce about on a bench. Rin was almost startled as he felt a drop fall onto his hair. It was still snowing, wasnt it? Its not supposed to be raining.

Perhaps sae felt rin getting cold, that must be why hes holding so dearly onto rin. Every muscle told the same story: “dont let go, dont let him disappear”. The olders was face was still obscured, intentionally. Rin could feel more and more drops of water fall, some on his shoulder, others on his dark strands. He couldnt look up, not at the sky, not at saes face.

Sae was pathetic in his own view. He knew it, he never needed to be reminded of that again and again. The moment illustrates his selfishness all too well. This egoist cant even shield his brother from a rain that isnt falling on his own head. The rain that was caused by a cloud of weakness. This egoist that cant bother showing his brother the true reason its raining.

I hope i made it clear enough that the rain is actually sae's tears and him crying! Hence the "rain that wasnt falling on his own head" and that hes ashamed to show rin that hes crying "cant bother showing his brother why its raining"

Personally i cant see him crying(more staring into an abyss emotionless than tears tbh) but i had to for the sake of this fic
