the bad angels are back in town // paswg au
White tears amuse me.
This bitch that’s one of my former coworkers is upset cuz she didn’t know about culture appropriation for Halloween. Like, get the fuck over yourself that you’re upset it’s racist to have your yt kids dress up as moana. You have dozens of other characters you can dress up as without appropriating someone’s culture.
wHEn I wAs a KiD I dREsSED As An InDiAn aNd iT wAs fInE I wAnT tHE sAmE fOr mY kId 🙄 like fuck off becky.
You're really do the most by saying little white girls can't dress up as a character from a Disney movie. Fighting the good fight. These are the real issues facing our society.
yeah! the whole countrys of poc are LITERALLY IN WAR AND PEOPLE ARE FUCKING DEAD ALL OVER LATINOAMERICA THANKS TO THE CORRUP GOVERMENT AND THERE ARE ALSO A TON OF SHIT HAPPENING IN HONG KONG but yeah costumes are the real issue right now, thanks americans for caring for poc people!
There are actual genocides going on- multiple genocides at that- but the fucking toddlers are problematic?
God, OP, you might as well be in a vegetative state, cause your brain aint workin at all.
I was thrilled to pieces when I saw this scene. Disney could have written Gideon off like some bully character who never really amounted to anything, or got what was coming to him like a lot of those characters do in their movies. Gideon made something of himself. He’s a pastry chef, something that’s not traditionally a job for men in media. And as soon as Judy speaks to him, he immediately apologizes to her. He doesn’t try to shrug it off as no big deal, or say that it was just boys being boys or whatever; he knows he hurt her, and he owns up to it. And Judy immediately forgives him.
Well done, Disney.
Also the language that he used is not something that he would have most likely grown up hearing/using. Describing his failings as self-doubt that manifested into “unchecked rage and aggression” sounds SO MUCH like therapy speak. So he’s either gotten counseling to help him with some of his problems, or sought out literature to help himself. A++ disney :)
This movie is a treasure.
Well, you also need to recognize another aspect of it. Not just is it Gideon owning up to his issues and apologizing for his past misdeeds… It’s also Judy realizing that her own preconceptions are based around this. That it was, yet again, something where she formed biases towards foxes based on her interactions with one fox, who openly admits it wasn’t some part of his nature… But rather his anger was a part of his own PERSONAL issues.
Needless to say, a lot of Tumblr got upset with this scene. They didn’t want Gideon to change. They didn’t want him to be a sympathetic character, and some complained about the idea Judy was “obliged” to interact with him or forgive him (which isn’t actually present in the scene at all). They wanted him to remain a stereotype, a target it was okay for Judy to hate.
Because they missed the point of the whole movie, somehow.
this is going to sound really cuntish
but
is it just me or is there a tendency with modern media to be preachy? the message here is a fundamentally good one, but it’s spelled out in an almost academic way. the targeted audience is quite young - right? kids don’t tend to think about “unchecked rage and aggression”, but they tend to understand metaphors. which is why older animated films are so beloved and memorable (not to say some modern ones aren’t).*
media in general - shows, and movies, and books - right now seems to be brimming with directly spelled out messages. it sort of assumes we (the public) are a. ignorant and b. stupid. so instead of conveying messages through art, it just… spits it out.
i mean, this really isn’t exclusive to zootopia, this post is just an example. and the message is still good.
* could just be the nostalgia factor
In this scene, Gideon has clearly been to therapy and memorized this spiel, and the last line is a lot more natural. It’s subtext, for the teens and adults.
And before this point, Judy’s parents already said he’s turned his life around and made something of himself.
I want to fuck Gideon
Me too, but you didn’t have to say it
If your only reason for wanting something banned is "it's disgusting", it's not a very good reason.
Feelings don’t matter here, banning something should be more for actual hate speech than a random kid being offended by the presence of an adult in a fandom.
No speech should be banned, including hate speech.
The only speech that should be banned is yelling “FIRE!” in a crowded room, inciting actual violence, et cetera. Otherwise, hateful or not, let ‘em talk.
Which, it is.
The speech that is banned are:
Lying under oath
Espionage
Incitement to riot / incitement of direct violence
Fighting words
Disturbance of peace
False advertising.
But hateful or obscene speech is protected by the first amendment.
And any country that doesn’t protect the right to free speech is one step in the direction of fascism.
Ding ding ding, you are correct sir.
For those of you who don't comprehend why banning hate speech is bad I must remind you that you are not in control of what qualifies as hate speech the government would be.

ㅤ ㅤ♥︎ or ↻ if u save.
All of these are very important.
This is actually good.
okay but I’m very surprised some of these are not just “duh” items.
not to be like…..okay this will sound extremely Stupid to anyone who didn’t spend their Youth TM in mosh pits/concerts etc. but there IS mosh pit etiquette that you learn basically the FIRST time you go into one and it basically involves looking out for each other the whole show & last night at a concert I went to there were three dudes just absolutely ignoring the Rules TM and had the attitude of “if you don’t want to get hit/shoved/pushed around, don’t be in the crowd,” and I just wanna make sure everyone knows how uncool that is and if ur like that no one likes you.
One of them tried to crowdsurf on stage and the guitarist himself shook his head at him and made him get down. If you don’t follow pit etiquette even the Band doesn’t like you.
The basics are:
if someone falls, the Most and Only important thing in the following ten seconds it to get them on their feet again. Nothing else in your entire world matters in those moments but making sure that person doesn’t get trampled.
if someone tells you they want out, it’s up to you to help them now. Remember in a pit, people (especially short or small people) get so packed in they may not be able to move more than half a foot in any direction (or at all if everyone’s really squeezing). If someone tells you they need out, you may be the only person they get a chance to tell. So you help them. Sometimes the only way is to crowd surf to the back. Ask them if they want to/can be lifted up, and tell the people around you to send them BACKWARD, not toward the stage. Even in venues with no surfing rules, if they’re going to the back to escape, not to the stage, security generally gets what’s going on and may even be waiting to help them at the end of the crowd.
If you see someone obviously struggling, check in on them. I can’t tell you how many times some big dude asked little 16 year old me if I needed help. I remember fondly the time I saw ADTR when I was 16, and the crowd separated for a Wall Of Death TM (lmao), where the crowd split in half and each side charged the other. I by CHANCE ended up at the front of one side, and I was going to get Obliterated, and a guy next to me basically sort of lifted me above the crowd as we all collided so I landed on top of the pile instead of on bottom.
If you’re at a show where moshing isn’t a given, be Courteous of the mixed crowd. Last night I saw a cute electronica band, and there was a group of girls dressed in full on Lolita fashion. Heels, wigs, petticoats, etc. They were in the VERY front against the stage, where people often go to avoid the pit. I was surprised that people started shoving at all at this show, and I watched grown men try to ELBOW them into the pit. Who does that?
Moshing involves a lot of pushing and leaning and squeezing against people, but not grabbing. NEVER grabbing. If you’re grabbing people/their clothes, trying to move them/force them out of their spot, you’re not moshing, you’re attacking someone.
BASICALLY the point is to have fun, and that involves accountability. You may think “I’m in a huge, aggressive crowd.” But every single person there including you, is PART of that crowd, and you are responsible for your little microcosm of that.
My mom used to hate the concerts I went to as a teenager, but it remains true that pretty much everyone I ever Quite Literally ran into at those shows always made a point to look out for their fellow concert-goers, and that’s why I had fun.
Just be good to the people around you, so everyone can go home with good memories.
This post has great timing as I joined my first mosh just last night. I would’ve done more were I not worried about my pants falling off (Ive lost a little weight and need to get a tighter belt lol), but the one time I fell on my ass, IMMEDIATELY I got helped back up. Everybody was nice as hell too. I was at the edge of a pit for awhile too and helped a guy up, and it was a genuinely positive experience.
Don’t ruin it by being an asshole, and remember, no karate in the pit
It is every human being’s right to go absolutely feral in large crowds at concerts and develop an immediate and passionate sense of familial camaraderie that will last for two hours.
I’d add that if you see someone throw someone into a pit, it’s now your sacred duty to go fucking hogwild on the thrower after making sure the throwee is alright

Metoo and its issues
I'm gonna start out by saying I don't support the metoo movement
I support people speaking up and sharing their experiences to help themselves
But I do not support the metoo movement
Metoo was started by Tarana Burke, a social activist who started using the phrase on her Myspace. Metoo is to promote "empowerment through empathy" and was primarily for non white women who have sexually abused. It wasn't until a tweet made by Alyssa Milano (per a suggestion from a friend) that said if that you'd been harassed or assaulted then reply with 'me too'
And it went from there
In theory, it's not a bad thing to speak up but it's what followed after that that's made me question it
1. Are male victims included?
There have been a couple hashtags trending besides #metoo. #believesurvivors and #believewomen. I've heard conflicting information about whether it's inclusive to men or not. On one hand, it apparently is. It's for everyone. On the other hand, I've heard it's just for women. So I dunno.
2. Seeing men as victims instead of the bad guy
Kinda goes along with number 1. There are quite a few people out there who are ignorant to this; they believe that men cant possibly be victims and that this is a female only issue. Metoo has furthered this mindset. It has such a strong emphasis on female victims that male victims are often pushed to the side and only recognized once they've done something "creepy"
3. Victim blaming
I don't really like to use this sort of talk because of how overused it is and how people have taken to saying it when it's not even happening. But for this special case, I'll use it. People, primarily feminists, victim blame male victims.
Oh he wanted it
He probably enjoyed it
Or they put a twist on it and might say he was the one to try and rape her or something. Of course it doesnt help when guys are out there saying they wish it was them. Regardless of that, personally I'd say to keep it to yourself because that's just telling people not to take it seriously. Or I've also heard that it's a coping mechanism. Still, the way people respond to male victims, especially if the victim is a minor who was raped by a teacher or something, is disgusting. If you wouldn't say it to a female victim, don't say it to a male.
4. False accusations
This is a biggie. It is so so easy to falsely accuse nowadays and it doesn't even to pertain to rape. If I'm in a store and I say that this guy is making me feel uncomfortable, I can guarantee something will be done about it. A lot of people are in denial about it and use skewed statistics as their evidence to suggest otherwise. I don't think we truly know the statics of false accusations because no one takes them seriously. I've often heard (and read online) that if we try to take action to prevent false accusations it will hurt victims and stop them from speaking up. You can't think like that, though. Even if one side steps up, you still have another that's hurting. We need to let people know from both sides that's it's okay while also maintaining firmly against people lying because it does happen. There is no way to tell if everyone that was sharing their story in response to Alyssa Milano's tweet was being truthful and it's the truth. There isn't. Who's to say that there wasn't someone lying for sympathy points or to be apart of the trend (because, in a way, it is like a trend if you think about it). It's not to say that everyone is lying but you can't just blindly believe someone because they're a woman. I feel like some of this stems from the fact that most people wouldn't lie, therefore they have the mindset of 'I wouldn't lie about this so why would anyone else'? What's worse is that there really isn't anymore innocent until proven guilty, especially not with the media and how biased it is. It's more like guilty until proven innocent. How sad is that? Sure you *might* be proven innocent but after being drug so far down by the media, having people insult you and give you death threats, lose your job/license and maybe even have family/friends turn on you. And you still might have that on your record. The justice system is a joke.
5. Desensitization
After a while you just sort of get desensitized from it all. When you have false accusations, people making cases out nothing (he said I was pretty, he asked me out) and nothing is done about it, how are you supposed to continue to feel strongly about it?
Not dating someone for being trans is not transphobic
Alright so originally I didn't see this really as a mens issue but when it's talked about I see it's aimed at white men most of the time so I'm gonna go ahead and talk about it.
Like the title says, It's not transphobic to refuse to date someone solely because they're trans. It's a preference and it's something you have to try to justify.
"Your preferences are discriminatory"
So does that mean gay men are discriminating against me because they arent attracted to me? Most of you guys would immediately jump in and tell me no it's different. But it's basically the same argument and the logic is typically aimed at straight people but if ya'll are gonna use this logic be consistent
The people who say it are essentially telling you to heck with your preferences! In order to be a good person you gotta go by these rules and if you dont you're a transphobe
Really?
I'm sorry but I won't do it. I like men to be biologically men but that doesn't mean I have something against transgenders. I just wont date/marry them.
And let's think about this, how many of those people who say it are trans vs people trying really really hard to be good ally's?
Wanting someone to be a biological gender is no different than any other dating preference. Example:
I like men with dark hair- preference
Anybody who doesnt have dark hair is ugly- rude but still a preference
If I was trans and I liked someone who didn't really like me but just went out with in order to he seen this super good, woke person-I would be hurt. You can't just make up rules and expect people to do it. It doesn't lead to acceptance but forced tolerance.
Yeah I'm sorry but I go for guys, biological guys. I will not change my preferences to make someone feel better. You can't do that. It doesnt work out
