How To Have A Bad Night

Step 1: throw up a lot at work because there's been something stuck in your throat for 3 days that's very irritated now and leave for the ER.
Step 2: drive 20 mins to ER while hacking and trying not to speed.
Step 3: park in the wrong garage, walk around aimlessly, then call emergency button for directions.
Step 4: misunderstand the distance and WALK to the ER entrance that's like half a mile down the road.
Step 5: check in. (Still in dirty cow-milking clothes).
Step 6: wait 4 hours while constantly hacking until you are called back.
Step 7: go to room and have nurse tie your gown because you can't tie behind your back.
Step 8: IV and blood samples, given med to expand esophagus and drink soda so thing falls out of throat.
Step 9: CT scan.
Step 10: throw up mucus but it's carbonated because of the soda.
Step 11: they didn't find anything abnormal so they discharge you.
Step 12: throw up some more for good measure and leave.
Step 13: find a security guard to escort you back to your car cause there's no way you're walking all the way back down the road.
Step 14 (optional): wait until security guard is done casually chatting on his phone while on duty.
Step 15: drive yourself home while completely wiped out.
Step 16: finally get home at sunrise and find a bunch of termites on the front door.
Step 17: call your dad.
Step 18: he's fine with opening the door despite the infestation. Go to bed.
The end.
Empty the Tanks protests are happening this weekend. So hereās a few reminders (based on scientific research and my own experience as a former dolphin trainer/working in dolphin welfare):
No functioning āsea sanctuaryā currently exists for cetaceans. No sea sanctuary is currently being utilised by dolphins or whales. If you "empty the tanks" there is no where for these animals to go, which is why we have two shutdown facilities with dolphins and whales living in limbo: Marineland Antibes and Marineland Ontario
"Tricks" are just learned behaviours, which the dolphin or whale only chooses to do because there is a reinforcing outcome for them. If the behaviour was uncomfortable or caused them pain, they simply don't have the incentive to do them.
Dolphins and whales in accredited facilities are not being "made to perform" or "starved". If that was the case, you'd be seeing it in their body condition and behaviour. There are facilities where outdated training methods are still used but these are not the places where Empty the Tanks are demonstrating in front of.
"Shows" are basically high energy exercise sessions put to music and the animals can always choose not to participate if they don't want to. You being entertained by an animal is not inherently unethical if their welfare is prioritised. The animals don't care whether a show is "educational" or not. Or if they're doing "natural" behaviours.
Dolphins and whales in human care are all individual animals with individual personalities, learning histories, genetic histories ect. There is no one size fits all solution to welfare.
Just "make the tanks bigger" or "put them in the ocean/sea sanctuary" are not viable or reasonable welfare solutions. And the Empty the Tanks organisers are not qualified to assess cetacean welfare in any meaningful way.
I have personally witnessed poor welfare in a sea pen habitat in bottlenose dolphins - welfare issues do not go away in a sea pen. In fact, sea pens create a lot of other stressors and uncontrollable environmental factors such as pollution/oil spills, weather/currents/tides ect.
If you have any questions or concerns about the welfare of cetaceans in human care, you're welcome to message me questions or have a chat to trainers and caretakers at your local zoological facility.
Genuinely we would not be working minimum wage jobs and sacrificing financial security to scrub buckets and be elbow deep in frozen fish at 5am if we didn't care about these animals.

Currently Reading: re-read of Nona the Ninth and fanfic wise, What it Means to be Chosen and In the Shadow of Death.
Last film: Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3. Sonās pick. It was okay.
Last show: Witch Hat Atelier. Itās SO GOOD! I just bough a couple of volumes of the manga to start reading ahead.
Coffee or Tea: coffee is too hard on my stomach so tea, Earl Grey, Hot.
Video Games: working on 100% for BotW, and just traded for DKC Tropical Freeze and Megaman 11 so Iāll be trying those soon. I want to go back to Metroid Dread, as well.
Working on:
Two main writing projects right now are A Link Against the Dark and a series of short snapshots that will be a sort of prequel to The Masked Rogue. Also working on refining the plot for the ACTUAL Masked Rogue story.
Art-wise, Iām practicing a stained glass effect with markers because I want to use it on an illustration for A Link Against the Dark and I donāt want it to be my first time trying it.

- a 2 hour presentation on getting started with performance showing plastic horses to be delivered at our huge con in like. 5 weeks.
- two fics that were offered as prizes for events I agreed to before getting sidelined with surgery.
- Draw Everything June and realizing I need to put in more dedicated practice as I think Iām at that point where I donāt like what Iām doing because my ability to see vs do are flipped
- a wig to boots rebuild of my BOTW Link cosplay which is definitely not making its original deadline either, thanks so much uterus.
- obsessive tourchasing a favorite musician which is why everything else is in a holding pattern until Friday

Currently Reading: Finished Dungeon Crawler Carl, reading another litRPG series, Defiance of the Fall (3).
Last film: The Cave (2005). I recently dove in the exact place where this was filmed. Watched it with my parents and they said "as your dad I have to tell you, kid, please don't go into cave diving." š ok dad
Last show: DanDaDan, then a little bit of Chainsaw Man. So good. I'm really enjoying the fighting/action anime but Witch Hat Atelier is calling my name...
Coffee or Tea: I love tea but someone made me the best cafƩ olla (coffee, cinnamon, honey or brown sugar, chocolate powder) I've ever had in my life and I'm getting hooked
Video Games: Painfully slowly working my way through PL:ZA but I'm trying to level up my team so I can defeat Jacinthe! Grabbing The Great Ace Attorney every once in a while to scream over Sherlock Holmes. I think I'm finally feeling ready to play Persona 5 soon though! Argh I gotta finish Pokemon first!!!!

The best way I can describe to an allo person how you feel about sex as a topic as a sex-repulsed or averse asexual is that it feels like a hype that never ends. As though Despicable Me came out and everyone around you was sending minion facebook memes to each other for years to come. The stores are full of minion themed products; they're in ads and your friends talk about them all the time. And deep in your heart you're like "I'm glad that they're able to enjoy something I personally don't like and am not interested in :3". But there is always this little voice in the back of your head that's like "If I have to see ONE MORE of these little yellow FUCKERS today then God help us all." You make an active choice to communicate only the former.
