Step 6: Take a stroll, they said
This day has been all about three magic keywords: food, people-gazing, and (window) shopping. My feet tell me, that I walked off a bit of calories...or rather: I tell myself 😉.
On the planning today were: Shibuya, Shinjuku, Harajuku, and Omotesando. I headed to the Metropolitan government building for a spectacular panoramic view. Than I walked by many skyscrapers and modern buildings, until destiny sent me straight into (the little) food heaven that is Omoide Yokocho. It was at a mere glance that I saw steamy little izakaya-style bars and decided to go into this narrow path. I had some fish cakes in a yakitori place, because the rest were organ-skewers.
On I went, to K-town, the Tokyo base of Korean culture, where I had a fried Kimchi rice omelet. Not too many b-boys, but a massive overload of idol music, fortune tellers reading hands, and makeup stores that sold placenta facial masks. Believe it, or not.
Next stop: Harajuku. Pinks, rainbow coloured sweets, Lolita’s and funky clothes. Of course, I had to try the crêpes (next to the food stall). At Takeshita Dori, big crowds were hastily passing by neon-lit stores and music plats loudly everywhere.
Passed through Omotesando street, where luxury is at dislay in every shop window. Chanel, Maison Martin Margiela, Dior, Delvaux, Church, Jill Sander... and a very cool Apple flagship store.
Hungry for washoku, I went to Tendon Tenya. The oyster, mushroom and ebi tempura-don was delicious, and it was all I needed before bedtime.
