Well I have now finished Bloodlines, so some thoughts! While I have played it before, I was basically a brainless child, so this is effectively my first playthrough.
The graphics and VA are fantastic and really stand the test of time. There's the right level of campness and levity while still taking itself somewhat seriously, and it's so good.
I don't know how well this game would serve as an intro to World of Darkness, and certainly my child self didn't take in any of it, but with WoD lore knowledge it felt really rewarding to make educated guesses as to X thing happening etc. Like when I started finding flesh monsters and was like, oh, cool, we're dealing with the Tzimisce.
I'm a big fan of the split level design where on the one hand you have the in-city segments where it plays more like a traditional ARPG of its era and the out-of-city segments where it plays closer to Bioshock - listen to X character(s) monologue while you fight waves of faceless enemies and solve basic puzzles. Maybe it's just the nostalgia I have for the era, but I love it. The Malkavian manor was the best of this.
It definitely shows it age in some places, and I feel the dialogue options are more limited than I'd like (I have to be so violent and cruel to some people, even though I've maxed out humanity wherever possible?) but it's not enough to make me not love the game.
I'll probably replay as a Malkavian soon!
they're executing the count from sesame street for violating the masquerade
The Werewolf "fight" in Bloodlines is so damn charming, with all of its custom animations and environment destruction, I love it so much
Just, objective: survive while this guy runs after you
sigh it's that time again
Not you, you're not invited

Every so often I find myself thinking that it's odd for Avowed not to have any helmets and then I remember
I've been greatly enjoying replaying VTM: Bloodlines now that I have TTRPG knowledge / experience. I last played it when I was a teenager and knew nothing of the lore, so it's a very different experience.
It's such a charming game in so many ways and I'm so glad that I thought to replay it so that I don't play something modern and turn my PC into a radiator in a heat wave lmao
It has however got me designing VTM OCs... I have no real odds of playing in a campaign anytime soon but I'm here playing with a Tremere blorbo and (not from Bloodlines) a Banu Haqim also...
anyone who thinks it’s a “win” that obsidian is working on Bethesda’s fallout while having to cancel their IP projects is just… really short sighted
does it not feel like a weird situation? Is there a plan to shutter obsidian until there’s nothing left and the devs go work at other studios or get laid off? Then they can right it off in taxes or whatever? Isn’t this just the beginning of their “overhaul”? I just can not see it as a “win” and can only see it as a bad omen
fanboys would cheer as obsidian burns to the ground if it got them their precious fnv 2 I guess
This is a probably a loose loose situation for obsidian. They do well making a fallout game, Microsoft diverts more resources into having them become a sub studio for Bethesda IPs. They do bad, they get axed and the studio shutters.
RIP pillars of eternity you were a great franchise and could’ve been bg3 levels of popularity
I HATE IT
The game maker is also canceling a planned sequel to last year’s ‘Avowed’

What do you mean the coldest day next week will be 28 degrees? Does the world want me to die? If no one sees me on Tumblr ever again it is because my new liquid form will not possess the manual dexterity to type.
Wishing a swift and uneventful heatwave to everyone affected
what the hell is going on
i believe in you Binface. you can do it. this could be your moment.
Please god it would be so funny
there is no downside to voting for Count Binface. its not taking away from other candidates bcos they aren't any and the more votes he gets the stupider Farage looks.

Does anyone else have such a visceral negative reaction to loss of agency (capture/mind control/etc.) in fiction that they have had to stop reading some works? This isn't to raise issue with the technique; it's just that it's happened to me more than once (I had to stop playing both Knights Of The Old Republic II and Wrath Of The Righteous), and it would be nice to know I'm not alone.
David Lynch was a huge influence on Danhausen. (…) because in a world that is purely sanitized garbage for the most part, as far as arts and films and music and all that go, seemingly at least, he was authentically himself. He was unapologetically himself– why would he apologize? He was weird, but because he was authentically weird, weird is good.
