Friend, @asllinguist, bought me a birthday lunch (it’s Dec. 31st) at my favorite Jewish deli. I had the beef and latkes with a side of chunky applesauce and sour cream, he had the whitefish on bagel. We both had a bowl of Matzoh ball soup. A friend, @asllinguist, sent me a recipe through text for a marinated tomato sauce to put on #pasta or #bruschetta. I had all the ingredients on hand, so why not give it a shot? And I did. It was delicious, fresh tasting, meatless. Recipe called for marinating the #tomatoes in #oliveoil, fresh #garlic, and #basil (of which I have in abundance) and salt & pepper. I couldn’t wait and only let it #marinate an hour. Recipe suggests the longer the better, overnight is best. I agree, a longer marinating time would’ve toned down the strong garlic.
