Thomas Packard was the first Packard in Ohio, settling in Austintown Township in 1801. As an elected supervisor of highways for the Youngstown District, he was responsible for improving old Indian paths and blazing trails through the wilderness. Thomas probably never imagined that his great-grandsons Will and Ward Packard would build a machine in Warren that would blaze a new path across the continent 100 years later. - National Packard Museum
