like SERIOUSLY why didn't we have buck and harry climbing through the elevator shaft to get where they needed to go, and eddie jolting awake at the sound of their clanging footsteps on his roof and just managing to summon the energy to bang on the wall and croak out 'I'm alive down here' and when buck and harry jimmy open the roof hatch we see buck have a moment of pure panic and then push it down and order harry to put pressure on the wound etc before climbing back out into the shaft, because for all he wants to stay with eddie someone needs to finish their job and he can't send the probie off to do it so it has to be buck, but he locks eyes with eddie through the hatch and eddie stares hazily up at buck's face in the emergency light

i think eddie knows but he doesnt Know. he knows that the way he feels about buck is the same way hes always felt about buck. he knows that buck is essentially his life partner he knows that he needs and relies on buck he knows that buck is wonderful and amazing he knows that when hes around buck he feels happy and secure but beyond that he doesnt question it because thats just buck. he doesnt feel like he needs more from buck than he already has. when he wants to talk to buck he calls him. when he wants to be around buck he finds him. when he needs something from buck he asks him. but he doesnt think "im in love with buck romanticstyle and i want to kiss and marry him" . because in his mind Subconsciously they are already married. and sometimes maybe hes laying in his bed alone he thinks man it would be nice if buck was here too. if buck could sleep next to me every night. but he doesnt think too deep into that bc hes aware that theyre a bit codependent so of course he misses buck even at night when hes trying to sleep. especially then. the same way as when you make the room cold on purpose so you can have a blanket on you. you could just make the room warm instead and have no blanket but its not about the warmth, its about the feeling of the blanket being there.

Oh the tragedy of modern fans not knowing that “dickie bird” used to be a way to generally refer to any little bird, and that the name Richard Grayson was most likely specifically picked for Robin just so that they could call Dick “dickie bird” because he’s just a little robin. And Jason would know this because he reads, and that’s why he calls him that. Like, it’s not just adding the -y or -ie sound to the end of Dick’s nickname to make it sound cuter, “dickie bird” was and actual term.

in other news, I’m still not over Maddie going home from the divorce dinner at a restaurant to have a second takeout dinner with Chim because that’s their go-to move. Buffridays. It’s comfort. It’s her safe space. And well. Well, Buck went to Eddie’s to chatter about hats while Eddie and Chris played video games, something long ago established as Eddie’s “idea of therapy” and the Diaz couch being a safe space for Buck too.
