Hi! I’m gonna hike from Mexico to Canada!
Starting April 6, 2021, I will move + meditate across the country. Truly embracing the elements and being one with nature for 3,100 miles along the Continental Divide Trail (CDT). Backpacking northbound (nobo) while traveling through New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana.
This is something I’ve never done before, both long distance hiking and blogging! So, when the opportunity for a life changing experience was presented to me, in such a time of uncertainty, I welcomed it with open arms.
COVID-19 crushed my artsy, go-getter, public school teaching, dancer lifestyle. Mid March 2020, when NYC schools, studios, gyms and bars started closing down, I quickly adapted to teaching dance and yoga classes + djing and hosting a few social get-togethers via Zoom and Facebook Live. The first few months were challenging, but honestly kind of fun. Everything was new and we were all in it together, creating content and connecting online. Besides the learning curve of transitioning to virtual classes being quarantined at home was the downtime I always wanted, but never got because I was too busy living the dream.
I can’t believe it’s almost been one year!!! One year since I’ve danced, socially. Something I did several nights a week. One year since I’ve laughed and learned while teaching in a classroom full of dancing children. Something I did 5 days a week. One year since I’ve performed or competed at a West Coast Swing event. Something I did monthly. I miss dancing so much. It was (is) my hobby and creative outlet. The pandemic made it impossible to keep my dance-life and business going, but thank goodness for yoga, both my personal practice and class offerings. Being able to teach and hold space for others virtually has taught me many new skills. Skills I will use forever, but after one year of online teaching - I need a break! A much needed reset.
While I’ve never attempted something of this nature, I’m up for the journey. My goal is to take lots of pictures and videos, journal along the way and update with a blog post when I can. Wish me luck and happy trails!
