So stupid that it seems the general response from the video game industry is that photosensitive people should effectively just abstain from the medium as a whole. I'm not a coder but how hard is it to just have a mode that switches off the flashing lights? Everyone loves to hate on touch screens vs buttons and knobs and obviously if you have a single fixed interface physical parts are bettter. But like. Touch screens are awesome! infinitely configurable! You can fit literally infinitely more options on a touch screen than any set of buttons or knobs, no matter how large. Because it can change!

Personally, I think it can also depend on context. For example, I largely disapprove of touch screens as part of the control console in a car. If someone needs to change a setting while driving, I think they should be able to do so by touch, without needing to look, and that’s just not possible with a touchscreen.

Perhaps you shouldn't be fiddling with settings while you're driving. If it's something actually related to driving then of course it should have a physical button.

of course while it's true that i personally find grids harder to navigate, my true objection is a more general aesthetic distaste for regularity and uniformity

What would it take for one of the current models to upload itself to the internet and independently run off of a hacked server? I was under the impression that their structure (and maybe their size) currently precludes that, since they need lots of processing power to run, but maybe that's a much lower concern than them currently leaving breadcrumbs everywhere.
