We Are Young, We Are One

But if we as an audience are meant to believe Rachel is indeed a theatre kid, they should have had her upset at the fact that Santana didn't tell her/ Santana not trusting her enough to tell her. Everyone knows you need a understudy whether you think you're capable or not. Life doesn't always happen the way you want. You would think someone who randomly got laryngitis, messed up her audition to her dream school and lost sectionals because of a stupid kiss would be well aware of hoe things don't go her way.

Like realistically Rachel would have understood the need to have an understudy. It would have made more sense if she was upset that her friend was keeping secrets from her given the fact that Rachel struggled with making friends her whole high school career. She thought her and Santana were connecting and becoming close enough to even share secrets with one another. This would have made even more sense if Kurt knew and she didn't. Her feeling left out (like she was back in hs) would have been a bit more emotional imo, and it makes no one a villian but just people who are trying to survive life as a undergraduate in New York.
