in the bible in revelations i think or somewhere, it warns you that near the end times, false prophets will pop up claiming to be the messiah. do you ever think scholars from like 700 years ago studying the bible would have thought this would be one of them

this is basically just a really long post going over kit and jentry's interactions in eps 8 and 9 bc i've seen some people feel like their characterization took a sharp turn ("they made kit act like an incel", "they made jentry reject him just because he's a demon", etc), when i thought both their actions were perfectly understandable and a pretty natural evolution of their not-relationship. i think the key thing to remember when watching these scenes is that both characters have very different assumptions about the current status of their relationship, partly because they were never able to sit down and define it in the first place.
kit thinks he and jentry are functionally together, that any hesitation on jentry's part is the result of some fixable fault of his own, while jentry thinks they were never a thing to begin with, and especially not now after kit betrayed her trust.
so this is where the trouble really begins, tho i think even earlier in this conversation is when they started to be on different pages. up until this point, kit had been hoping she'd forgive him, and was taken aback when she said she wasn't looking for apologies. then she started reiterating her belief in his soul and relating to the feeling of being trapped with a life defined by someone else
jentry pov: even though i'm feeling deeply betrayed, kit doesn't deserve to be under anyone's thumb. we'll help each other out and then we'll part ways amicably. that'll make things right.
kit pov: hold up. 'make things right'? as in... make up? as in... a relationship is still on the table? :D
jentry pov: after the powers are gone there'll be nothing tying kit to me, and nothing tying either of us to mr cheng. he'll be free to move on and choose whatever new life he wants.
kit pov: she said 'you and me' like we're a pair! so she still wants to be with me after all :D we're reconnecting!!
so this is when kit starts getting possessive. there's definitely good old fashioned jealousy at play, but i also think kit was genuinely under the impression that he and jentry were reconnecting, and that jentry should have no reason to be interested in michael at this point.
back at school he's genuinely confused, because he has no idea jentry isn't into him anymore. he helped her get rid of the powers and made up with her, so now they should be back in business. he did the mum thing that's apparently a romantic gesture jentry likes, so shouldn't she be happy about it? look how thoughtful he's being!
jentry pov: ohhh shoot, he doesn't get that i don't wanna be with him anymore. i can't deal with any more stressful demon stuff......... how do i put this nicely...
kit pov: yep haha ^_^ no more powers, yay! it's like what you said back at my house! now that you don't have the powers nothing is getting in the way of our relationship anymore, like mr cheng and gugu's game. peace and love on planet earth <3
jentry pov: i need to let this dude down as GENTLY AS PHYSICALLY POSSIBLE. i want to word this in a way that SCREAMS "you're an okay dude, just not what I personally want out of a relationship right now" because I know he has issues with his sense of identity. so i will focus on how the relationship itself can't be normal. this will hopefully take the brunt of rejection off him as an individual and lay the blame at the feet of unfortunate circumstances
kit pov: ohhhh so she WANTS to be in a relationship with me but i'm not acting normal enough
jentry pov: ok thank god. he gets that i don't want us to be together AND he took it gracefully.
kit pov: so she's saying we can be together... once i start acting more normal? that's slightly upsetting. but totally doable :)
jentry pov: i will now pursue michael since i've cleared things up with kit ^_^ yaaayyy
kit pov: what the hell??? i'm trying to be normal for her???? like she ASKED me to?? but now she's flirting with michael out of nowhere???
jentry pov: THIS CREEPY ASS DUDE KEEPS STALKING ME AFTER I TOLD HIM IM NOT INTERESTED
kit pov: i am doing Normal Displays of Normal Human Affection like she literally asked me to >:( ok well not literally but she INSINUATED
from his pov, she's not even giving him a chance to "correct" his behavior before she runs off with someone else, toying with his emotions. he's trying to "out-normal" michael to win her back, but it's frustrating and terrifying bc if there's one thing he Can Not handle it's rejection
jentry pov: this guy obviously can't take a gentle let-down, so I need to be more blunt about this. he stalked me, lied to me, tried to kill me. how can he NOT see why i don't want to be around him anymore? what the heck is his problem?? how much meaner do i need to be about this before he finally leaves me alone???
kit pov: ok, so the mask is coming off now. she said i was more human than i thought, that a soul is made up of the decisions you make, who you choose to be. but i didn't choose to be centuries old, i didn't choose to drain qi, those are all intrinsic parts of my demonic existence. was all that talk a lie? do i not have a soul after all? am i not human enough for her? was she just trying to spare my feelings this whole time?
jentry pov: he's so creepy and possessive, i hate this, why can't he just take no for an answer!!? (<- objectively true btw)
kit pov: she's avoiding the question, so she means 'yes' and is too proud to say it. she doesn't like me because i'm a demon, and if i was a normal human, we'd be together right now
so of course he gets so upset he punches the lockers. it's not extreme or out of character, he thinks everything jentry told him about his humanity was a lie. that there IS something inherently wrong with him that nothing but the acquisition of a soul could fix. that he's back to square one, that mr cheng was right, that no one could possibly love him in his natural state. that he is, inherently, down to his core, a monster.
but at least this time, he doesn't have to kill jentry to get what she he wants (because it was never really about her. he never prioritized her happiness. everything he did to change 'for' her was always about desperately maintaining the sense of human connection he craved)
Shred would have a stroke if they looked up the history of China between 1958-1962, just as a fucking example of how Communism is a bigger blight upon the human timeline than fucking capitalism could even DREAM to be.

Alice Liddell (American McGee's Alice, Alice: Madness Returns, Alice: Asylum) would be Conservative.
Let's see if I can get someone to rage at me so hard they go and make a meme, again. I had figured that my post about why Eleanor Lamb would be anti-Communist would anger some people, but I honestly didn't expect that (grins like a troll). This is for everyone who thinks that Alice would be liberal or Leftist.
I think that if Alice Liddell became an immortal after the events of her games, or if she took a century-plus long sabbatical in a Wonderland dimension, she would look upon the current state of affairs in Britain, and she would be utterly appalled, disgusted, and horrified.
Great Britain in Alice's day was by no means a paradise, but at least its government wasn't importing immigrants from third-world countries who have no desire or intent upon assimilating into British culture, and who are instead intent upon destroying said culture and replacing it with the ones that they fled from in the first place. And that's not getting into the child rape gangs.
The fact that the British government is not only allowing gangs to go around and rape children, but protecting them by charging the victims and those who would protect them, even imprisoning some in the latter case, is beyond revolting. And Alice would have none of it.
If Alice was real (that is, if the game version of her was real) and alive today, she would stop at nothing to see this vile injustice put to an end, and justice served to all the perpetrators, from the members of the rape gangs, to the police who stood by and let it happen, all the way up to the politicians who allowed their own country to come to this. She would very quickly become Keir Starmer's worst nightmare.
Alice doesn't strike me as a nationalist; she had far too much going on in her own life with her own problems to care a lot about politics. However, along with making sure that a bunch of rapists and their enablers were punished, Alice would definitely want to bring about a revival of the British spirit that allowed Great Britain to become the world superpower of the 1800s. Hell, she would find what most people think of as "conservative" these days to be very liberal, at least by the standards of Victorian Britain. Decades ago, Alice would have been happy to be Liberal, but these days, she would find that the British Liberal Party has turned its back upon the British people, and she would fight back.
Good to see I wasnât the only one to think of a K-Pop Demon Hunters and K/DA crossover, and also what it would mean when they realize that Evelynn is a demon. Also, theyâd go after Ahri too as sheâs a gumiho.
in the often underrated sequel to BioShock, BioShock 2, we are introduced to Eleanor Lamb, a Big Sister, which is what happens when a Little Sister isnât cured of her condition and grows up with her ADAM slug intact. Unlike the other Big Sisters, Eleanor was cured of her mental conditioning by her mother, Dr. Sofia Lamb, but not for good reasons. Sofia Lamb took over Rapture after Frank Fontaineâs death with her âRapture Familyâ, a cult founded upon collectivist and utopian ideals.
As Subject Delta, Eleanorâs Alpha Series Big Daddy, the player fights through Lambâs splicers to rescue Eleanor and escape Rapture. During the journey, Delta comes across Audio Diaries, recordings by Rapture citizens that delve into the gameâs lore. In two of Eleanorâs, she says that her motherâs âentire belief structure is corruptâ, âjust as corrupt as Ryanâsâ. Lambâs collectivist ideals are therefore repugnant to her.
When Eleanor is freed, she dons Big Sister armor and aid her father in fighting off her motherâs splicers. Armed with strength, speed, teleportation, telekinesis, pyrokinesis, and a huge needle to drain splicers of their ADAM, she is a force to be reckoned with. The game ends with her taking Deltaâs ADAM as he dies, gaining his powers and truly embracing the lessons he taught her, whether for good or for evil.
During the Hong Kong Protests, protestors chose the Overwatch character âMeiâ to be their symbol against the oppression of the Chinese Communist Party. I say that we do the same for Eleanor Lamb, one of the strongest female characters in video games, who said ânoâ to her corrupt, collectivist mother and brought her only father figure back from the dead to show her right from wrong and free her, making her stronger than him. The Good Ending versions of Eleanor Lamb are prime symbols against the tyranny of the collectivist.

Sound like youâre projecting your own political misconceptions on the game and then doubling down.Â
The Rapture family isnât Communist. Sure, communism can be a way for cult-like behaviour to be expressed, but to turn around in the comments and say that âcapitalism isnât the problem, but government regulation isâ when the first two games are literally all about the fall of Rapture by its own laissez-faire/deregulatory practices through the eyes of those who suffered by it is either deliberate misinterpretation or personal bias. Even on definition alone, the Rapture family is more linked to collectivism, not communism and even then itâs tenuous as Sofia Lamb twists the ideas of collectivism to her own needs. They might share points, but arenât interchangeable like youâre implying.Â
Plus, Eleanor saying sheâs repulsed by her motherâs belief system isnât an attack against Communism like you want it to be- rather, as a victim of both ritual abuse and a lack of governmental oversight (as in being trafficked as young girl in pre-fall Rapture) sheâs expressing contempt at the dehumanizing beliefs of both groups that allowed her to be so alienated.Â
Interesting how you only noticed one but not the other.Â

You know, one of my favourite things in Control is the absolute dissonance between Jesse's understanding of her powers and the Bureau's. Like, Jesse has known that the paranatural exists for a long time, but she's never really understood it, so when she becomes director and can suddenly throw things across the room and levitate and make barriers with ease she's just like 'oh this is just more paranatural bullshit, cool seems legit', cause this is her new normal and everything is paranatural bullshit to her.
But then the people of the bureau (except people who knew about dylan) are like, 'wait no, you don't understand you should not be able to launch three forklifts across the room at the same time while levitating! You shouldn't be able to throw one!! Northmoor threw a bowling ball 6ft and we all lost our minds!! What do you mean you can bind so many objects of power with minimal effort, this is not normal!!!'
