i DO feel vindicated that the half-hearted ihnmaims stuff that bugged me from ep 8 was genuinely intentionally half-hearted bc caine doesn't truly hate the humans. like i feel a little less crazy for having picked up on the fact that caine was forcing himself to play that role to feel in control the same way jax forces himself to play the bugs bunny cartoon mischief-maker role to feel in control

HOWEVER. in execution, the caine side of this caine-jax parallel arc was not nearly as emotionally fleshed out which makes his quick turnaround at the end feel fake and unearned. i think we should have dug a little deeper into exploring how the root of his problems lies in abandonment issues. also im gonna be totally honest i don't think we even needed the ate-my-brother-in-the-womb plot detail if the blue AI's only purpose was to give caine a deus ex machina to suddenly "cure" his anger issues lmao. like he could've just murdered the other AI and the story would've been a little less convoluted

also while i dont think caine’s turnaround was particularly well written i did tear up at how they accepted him despite everything. like i dont think it was a good writing decision bc there wasnt enough buildup to it but the sheer euphoria of a robot blorbo of mine finally NOT being doomed is sorta winning out in my brain at the moment. i am pissed that he magically learned emotional regulation by letting the blue ai go tho. that was weird
