Ollie Reeder (The Thick of It)

Problematic because: "his problem is that he’s a careerist who keeps treating politics like a game where the only real goal is staying useful to whoever might win next. the clearest early example is his relationship with emma messinger from the opposition - information slips across the party line because he’s sleeping with/dating someone on the other side, and emma uses an idea from him so peter mannion can get ahead of the government on immigration. later, ollie and malcolm leak the prime minister’s legacy programme to try to stall the handover, and it backfires badly enough that the pm resigns early. which is confidential government strategy getting tossed around because everyone involved is playing internal power games. he’s also repeatedly part of the westminster habit of undermining his own ministers when it benefits him. he works for hugh, then nicola, but his loyalty is always shaky because he’s watching the next rung. in series 4, when nicola is vulnerable, he helps the move against her leadership rather than backing her, and he later ends up working under dan miller after dan replaces her. it’s very ollie - he isn’t powerful enough to be malcolm, but he learns from malcolm’s world that leaking, nudging, briefing, and abandoning people at the right moment is how you survive. so he leaks things, helps create political disasters, treats relationships as information channels, undermines people he’s supposed to advise, and slowly becomes exactly the kind of hollow little operator the show is making fun of. he starts out looking weak compared to malcolm, but weakness doesn’t make him harmless, it just means he does the same dirty work with less charisma" Propaganda: 1. "ollie is horrible in a very “sent from linkedin to ruin your day” way. spineless, smug, ambitious, leaky, weirdly durable. somehow survives everyone louder than him. deeply irritating. excellent little weasel." 2. "He has the moral posture of a damp leaflet and the career instincts of a cockroach in a government building"

vs. Caitlyn Kiramman (League of Legends/Arcane)

Problematic because: "She imposes martial law and limits freedoms in her efforts to catch an infamous terrorist (Jinx). She tries to kill Jinx in front of a kid who adores her. She's a (fantasy) cop who uses tear gas against gang members. The gas and manhunt unstabilizes the entire community and dislocates children." Propaganda: "She's been through so much in such a short amount of time so her fixation on catching her mother's killer (and infamous terrorist) is understandable. She's not a cruel person, but she is an example of how trauma can impact someone, how people in power justify harmful decisions, and how the cycle of violence is perpetrated. She's a complex female character. Also she ends the series disabled and she's an expert marksman and she has a gf."
