hi sorry to bother you i would love to hear you talk more abt this!! i have very base level knowledge abt claddagh rings & neeeeed to know what different positioning means & also what it signifies when liam wears it like that. im so intrigued!!

hi! omg thanks for your message! i’m no expert by any means, but i’d be happy to give what knowledge i have on the subject of claddagh rings.

if you look closely at the design of the claddagh ring, you’ll notice that it shows two hands holding a crowned heart. see below:

the hands represent friendship, the crown represents loyalty, and the heart, of course, represents love.

you will commonly see claddagh rings worn as engagement or wedding rings, but they can also be worn as signs of friendship or even fashion statements.

depending upon how you wear the ring, it will usually signify your relationship status.

right hand, heart pointed in: in a relationship

right hand, heart pointed out: single or looking for a relationship

left hand, heart pointed out: engaged

left hand, heart pointed in: married

so how liam is wearing it in the loch lomond interview, he’s got his claddagh ring worn on his left hand, heart pointed in.

mind you, he wasn’t even married to patsy yet. the engagement was only just revealed to noel at this point, but my thinking is that liam wasn’t wearing it for her anyway.

on the subject of noel’s claddagh ring, i don’t know i’ve ever seen a clear image of it. i heard it was silver with an emerald in the center. someone in the gcest community *might* have a photo of it somewhere. but i’ve always seen him wearing a gold claddagh in other, more clear photos and in the “don’t look back in anger” music video. although i’ve seen him wearing it right hand, heart pointed out in those photos, so i’m not too sure.

the idea that they could’ve bought the matching ruby claddagh rings for each other is very sweet ❤️
