IT’S DISABILITY PRIDE MONTH YALL
BE UNAPOLOGETICALLY DISABLED AND TAKE UP ALL THE SPACE AND TIME YOU NEED!!!!!
If you haven’t heard, today PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome has been renamed to Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome. This change reflects that this is not a reproductive “problem” but a whole body disease.
For reference, from the WHO website:
(Text: PCOS affects an estimated 10-13% of reproductive-aged women. It is estimated that up to 70% of women with PCOS worldwide do not know they have this condition.)
The Lancet link about shift to PMOS. Spread this to everyone who works in health care now. People with uteruses and ovaries are in agony - yes, the whole body suffers a crisis every fkn month - and health care should help

Wait so depo-provera is linked to causing BRAIN TUMORS?????? HUH???????
Honestly I am so PISSED, beyond being linked to brain tumors and breast cancer!!!! which is awful!... *also! Progesterone can decrease insulin sensitivity by up to 40%!!! which if you have diabetes (LADA for me) is iEXTREMELY mportant, and a decade of doctors, specialists, hospital staff, no one could tell me this? when I had dka like 20+ times?!?? and I have degenerative hip dysplasia, and was told I needed a full hip replacement... Depo-Provera use leads to a loss of 5.7–7.5% BMD in the hip and spine after two years!! I am livid, WARN OTHERS!!!
Lol.
so the birth control im taking to stop my periods was revealed to cause brain tumors and breast cancer 🙃 thats so great dude thats so great that the only thing my insurance covers is prolly gonna kill me

For people who don't know how to drive or cannot drive due to medical reasons. Do you feel like a burden to people cause they have to drive you around even though you have the money for gas and stuff?

having chronic pain for the last while has made me ironically really bad at processing pain. I have an absolutely skewed perspective on what pain is vs discomfort, mild or severe, I'm genuinely getting bad at realising when I'm in pain and how bad it is. Arhgh.
due to my degenerative hip dysplasia with laberal tears and my uterus lying against my tailbone that was injured, on top of the POTS, Endometriosis, etc,... my doctors are sometimes in literal tears lookign at my imaging, & like OMG how do you even walk!?... idk I am used to it? *shrugs*
there's a thing where someone will hear a disabled person talk about how awful it is to be unable to get out of bed all day, and they'll think "I wish I was in bed all day." like there is a disconnect.
why aren't you in bed all day? because you need to work, to keep up with your responsibilities to other people, to bathe and exercise and move your body, all sorts of reasons.
disabled people still have all those things going on. they also need money and have responsibilities to other people and want to feel clean and move their bodies. they suffer the same consequences you would for not doing them.
you know that keeping up with all those things, even when exhausting, works out better for you in the long run than staying in bed all day, which is why you do them. it's such an obvious choice it doesn't even feel like you have a choice.
there is a difference between not needing to do all those things and not being able to do all those things. that's disability.
agreed, tell them, "just do it, stay in bed" and they'll be like "no, I need money", etc. Then you can be like "me too!" 🙃

this is one of TWO great new tooth therapies i've been very interested in!
in one, they pack your cavities or cracked tooth or whatever with stem cells and then trigger those stem cells to become tooth cells and your tooth basically heals itself :D
in this one, they basically tell your genes, "hey, remember that bit of genetic code that caused your body to grow a whole new set of teeth when you were like 8 years old? Yeah, run that code again right here" or, more accurately, what they really do is tell your body to temporarily stop running the extra bit of code that prevents you continuously growing new teeth like a shark.
anyway, can you imagine? Right now if you lose an adult tooth, in order to replace it they have to drill into your skull bones and screw in a fake one. In ten years you might be able to just... grow a new one! the future of dentistry is about to be so cool!
Scientists are on the verge of a dental miracle.
For clinical treatment of tooth defects and tooth loss, nonbiotechnological approaches, such as the use of prostheses and implants, have gen
Reminder: it’s okay to need medication! If it works for you, doesn’t harm anyone, and makes your life better, then why beat yourself up about it? Taking your medication is self care. 💖
very important

It's so cruel that if a black schizophrenic person wants any kind of help, they probably have to call 911, a centralized line for all emergency services. Even if they don't intend to call the police, there's a chance of them being sent in place of other emergency services. If you ask for them not to be called, you'll rarely be listened to. Then, the advice for dealing with police is to be in complete control of yourself, not be erratic in the slightest way because it gives ground for your death. So if you are someone who is not in control of yourself, who has a disorder that effects your ability to control your speech, body, mind, etc etc, you cannot call for help without risking death or institutionalization
I think I made this post because I was thinking about the advice "don't call the police" and how nebulous that can really be in practice. Not only that, but if you're having delusions you might not even be able to understand the "calling 911" in your reality to be the "calling 911" you know is dangerous in your usual world. It's so cruel to see people made so vulnerable that their survival instincts are not functioning be punished for it with death, and to know the advice about self control and not participating in the system doesn't function for them
And I should say directly this is in response to the disgusting murder of Sonya Massey, a black schizophrenic woman. I pray for her and her family to find justice and peace in this world
my disabled ass, after (1)good day: "obviously I am cured. in fact it may have all been in my head. who can say? now to rejoin society!"
me, the next day: "it has come to my attention that i may be chronically ill."
